Man shot after charging officers with piece of glass at SW Houston apartments, HPD says
Houston police said an officer shot the man after he charged and tackled them with pieces of glass in his hands.

HOUSTON — A man was shot Wednesday by a Houston police officer at a southwest Houston apartment complex after charging two officers with pieces of glass in his hands, according to authorities.

It happened in the 10600 block of Beechnut, just outside Beltway 8. The Houston Police Department tweeted about the shooting around 4:30 p.m. but it actually happened about an hour before that.

The man was shot in the stomach/abdomen area and was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition. No officers were injured in the shooting, according to police.

HPD officials said officers were dispatched to the apartment complex in regards to a man in crisis, who was possibly on drugs, breaking windows and cutting himself with pieces of glass.

Legally-armed Philadelphia man taking smoke break ‘turned the tables’ on armed would-be robber
The South Philadelphia shooting unfolded late Wednesday

By Emma Colton | Fox News
A Philadelphia man taking a smoke break outside his home “turned the tables” on an armed would-be robber when he pulled out his own legal gun and fatally shot him, according to police.

“It looked like a robbery victim, at this time, turned the tables on a would-be robber and shot him in the head,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said of the matter, according to NBC 10.

The incident unfolded just before 11:30 Wednesday evening in South Philadelphia near Moyamensing Avenue. A 24-year-old man smoking outside his home told police that a would-be robber approached him while riding a bike and soon pulled out a gun and “announced a robbery,” according to police.

You must understand, therefore, that there are two ways of fighting: by law or by force. The first way is natural to men, and the second to beasts. But as the first way often proves inadequate one must have recourse to the second. — Niccolo Machiavelli in “The Prince.”

“man in crisis, who was possibly on drugs, breaking windows and cutting himself with pieces of glass”

Should have left him alone and the problem would solve itself.

SPLASH! He musta missed the “Shot Out” from yesterday. You have the range, enfilading fire when ready. Target seems to be drifting aimlessly into the danger zone.

Waiting for the investigation to wrap up, but it looks like we may have a Feel Good Story within the Beltway.

That asasination at a gas station in Philly yesterday was
quite similar and had me thankful be home from my recent
trip to that area. Fueling up is extremely dangerous lately.
Screw the CC permit…open carry something obvious.

The SW side of Houston used to be a nice area. When the developers started putting in mile after mile of apartments we knew it was going to become little slum mazes where the cops were going to have trouble just finding the bad guys.
Go glad to have escaped all that.

Now, granted, we do have an escaped murderer north of our AO – but everyone there is armed. He may not make it out.
