One person died and another is critical condition following a robbery attempt that led to a shooting early Sunday morning in a truck stop in Avondale, according to Avondale police spokesperson Officer Jaret Redfearn.Avondale police were called for reports of shots fired at the Pilot Travel Center truck stop near 99th Avenue and Interstate 10 around 4:46 a.m. and found two men with gunshot wounds.
Police learned the suspect, identified as Sidney Luckett, 19, tried to rob two men inside the Pilot Travel Center which led to a fight with the victims. Luckett shot one of the men multiple times, according to Redfearn.
A security guard from the truck stop intervened in the confrontation and shot Luckett when the suspect pointed the handgun at him, according to police.

UPDATE: Robbery suspect dies after confrontation with convenience store clerk
An early-morning robbery attempt at an Oxnard convenience store ultimately left the suspect dead after the clerk fought back, authorities said.
The scene unfolded shortly after 1:50 a.m. at the Circle K store at 490 S. Victoria Ave., located at the corner of West Fifth Street near the Oxnard Airport.
The suspect, a 30-year-old Oxnard man, had gone into the store armed with what appeared to be a handgun, said Oxnard Police Department Cmdr. Luis McArthur. Later, officers found it was a replica BB gun that looked realistic, he said.

Deputies: Man shoots girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend in brick attack

A man who tried to attack his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend with a brick was shot and critically injured Saturday night at a home near DeLand, Volusia County sheriff’s investigators said.The shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the 400 block of South Blue Lake Avenue. The victim, 50, then drove to a home 1 mile away on South Kentucky Avenue, where he was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, said sheriff’s spokesman Andrew Gant.
According to investigators, a woman at the Blue Lake Avenue home said her ex-boyfriend showed up uninvited, entered her house and confronted her and her current boyfriend.

Well hell! Another tradition at TAH is changing. I have looked forward to my morning hit of Good Guys with Guns stories, blended with my morning Cuban Coffee, for quite awhile now.
Me thinks that Patricio G Balona, of the Dayton Beach News-Journal, might want to consult that dictionary a little more often. Especially when identifying the word “Victim”. Perhaps a better word would have been perpetrator or assailant!
