NJ Stiffens Penalties for Stolen Valor

In a newly published article in the ShoreNewsNetwork, New Jersey has signed into law a bill to increase punishment for Stolen Valor.

New Jersey Law Increase Penalties For Stolen Valor

TRENTON, NJ – Legislation sponsored by Senator Joe Pennacchio that would upgrade certain crimes of misrepresenting oneself as a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces was signed into law today by Governor Murphy.

“It is inspiring to see a veteran who has honorably served our nation return home and continue serving their community. Unfortunately, there are professional scammers right here in New Jersey who make a living by deceiving others into thinking that they are veterans—in order to claim financial benefits that are reserved for our actual veterans,” said Pennacchio (R-26). “My legislation will increase the punishments for such crimes and help curb this despicable behavior going forward. I am pleased that the Governor signed this bill into law today because all veterans should be provided easy access to the benefits they’ve earned, and anyone who knowingly impersonates a veteran in order to steal those benefits, should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

The legislation, A-1121/S-1871, would upgrade certain crimes of misrepresenting oneself as a member or veteran of the United States Armed Forces or organized militia. These crimes would be elevated from third degree to second degree if the individuals obtain money, property, or other tangible benefits in the amount of $75,000 or more. A crime of the second degree is punishable by up to five-10 years imprisonment, up to a $150,000 fine, or both.

Methods of impersonating a veteran with the intent to deceive in order to obtain benefits include, but are not limited to: wearing the uniform or any medal or insignia authorized for use by the members or veterans of the U.S. Armed forces; or, holding oneself out to be a recipient of any decoration or medal created by federal and state laws to honor members or veterans.

Sounds like the “vets” with the squeegees at the stoplights can now easily get three hots and a cot and may not have to clean windshields.

Okay they passed that Law, now we’ll see if they bother to enforce it!

A Proud Infidel~
Flashback 1 month to VG comments,
when this law was proposed.
Looks like the black and yellow ballcap
Phony Vietnam Veteran and Phony Desert Storm Veteran
Atlantic City panhandling racket is safe.
Ugh.

Even if the police make arrests it isn’t likely that any DA will prosecute without a media spotlight.

5JC,
Big city business and charity big fish, yes.
Statewide street corner and Atlantic City panhandlers
with black and yellow ballcaps, buckets, and shivs,
only if they brandish the shiv.

Ok, so a group of politicians got a warm and fuzzy feelz from their photo op of “doing something for Vets”. Well now ain’t that just special! Now they need to give us Vets a warm and fuzzy feelz and start rigorously enforcing the law. Y’all let me know how that works out.

Poetrooper

As for rigorous enforcement, they most assuredly will arrest and charge veterans and anyone else caught driving through their state with a gun in their car.

That photo reminded me of Bert and Ernie.

If I catch someone wearing an unearned CIB it’s going up their ass and I’m going to claim temporary acute non-GAFitis.

EDIT: Also, having been subjected to the Hell that is The Garden State against my will, I have to ask the burningest of questions: if its just the insane that can tolerate NJ, how can we hold any of them accountable?

A little off-topic, but here’s an example of what “woke” commie bullcrap does to people:

I guess All-Points Logistics will not be expanding to that area anytime soon. The False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) may have issues recruiting now that there are penalties for Stolen Valor in New Jersey.

But those squeegy dudes mentioned above might be nice fill-ins. Quite the promotion actually, if you think about it, and what do they have to lose? (Outside of knowing and working for Phil Monkress, of course).

Though I think one of the new Phildo Supporters is from up that way.

Well for all the naysayers, I have to look at the positive, at least it’s more than nothing. I mean, if they passed this and we get nothing then, well, it’s the same as it was. IF, at any time, this is enforced, then it’s more than we had when we woke up with this morning SO, there’s that.
I guy can dream, can’t they??

Good reasoning!

This is what happens,
when a City Council (in San Clemente, CA)
has Stolen Valor sitting in their lap, and stonewalls.
It’s their MAYOR (Gene James (2 VG articles)),
who (again) gets to cast his own tie breaking vote. (5 minutes)
