Texas. It’s like a whole different country.
As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. — Justice William O. Douglas, US Supreme Court

Totally Off Topic, but, since most here are military related in some way, and since I know one of the speakers in the video, I want to share this most interesting, enlightening, video of the A/C-130 gunship program, from its first life aboard a C-47. It is 50 minutes or so long, showing its history of DRTs below it.
Just had to distract me FIRST thing this morning, didn’t ya Frankie Cee? Wingwiping brother spent his last few years in the Chairfarce bringing the 130J on line.
“Charming bunch.” Now now now ‘Ed…them gud bois was only going to take $949.oo worth of goods (each) and use it to buy new choir robes.
BZ Grand Papa Bear…defending the cubs.
Don’t mess with Texas.
“To Hell with them fellas…buzzards gotta eat *spit*…same as worms.”
“You say those horses belong to them pilgrims…”
“You gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?”
Did not realize how many had been lost.
I love listening to them shoot. The first time I heard them I could not figure out what it was, there was this kind of low whirring sound (vvvvvrt) followed by several thuds. They were on a night range near us.
Their IR spots are also nice when you get mis-oriented. They can just walk you back to your unit by lighting the way (provided you have NODs on)!
The jewelery store owner used a Colt Dragoon to thwart getting his store robbed??? Now that’s retro.
The Alec Baldwin special pictured above is today’s gun pron.
Close… Alec would’ve probably know whether his stuff was loaded or not better with this one.
I have started referring to any single action (Army) type pistol (either cap and ball or cartridge) as an A.B. special. Because it takes a special type of dumbass to f#$k up with them.
You are correct. My only ND/AD in sixty years of handling pistols was with a .25 semiauto Saturday night special I was showing my secretary how to load and chamber a round. Her ex-boyfriend gave it to her but failed to show her how to operate it.
Way back in the early 60’s, my oldest brother refurbished a lot of old firearms as a side gig. He was working on a .45 SAA for somebody and asked me if I wanted to shoot it. Of course, being a 5yo I wanted to. He loaded it, took a knee behind me, put it in my hands, held me and the gun, cocked it and said squeeze the trigger. I did, I remember telling him “That’s loud”, he said get used to it.
Today it would be considered child abuse, I thought it was the best thing ever. The first pistol I ever fired.
My first shot was fired from my father’s Colt Woodsman when I was five.
But I doubt Alec would know what a percussion nipple with a copper cap looked like. No percussion caps, no bangs; doesn’t matter what is in the chambers of the cylinder.
Side note: I carried percussion revolvers loaded with black powder blanks for about ten years, firing them repeatedly, mostly on horseback. I never had an accidental or negligent discharge.
“Well, this’ll sure get the job done if you can find a fence post to rest it on while you take aim.”

You can’t realize how massive the Colt Dragoon is until you handle one. Loaded, one weighs over 4.5 pounds. Thus, they were commonly carried in pommel holsters attached to a saddle.
I still think of True Grit when I see a dragoon.
