Group robbery attempt thwarted at South Bay Macy’s — employee injured

By Kellie Hwang
A robbery attempt by a group of suspects at a Macy’s store in San Jose on Saturday was thwarted by employees and police officers, authorities said.

Officers responded to the Westfield Oakridge mall around 6 p.m. Saturday to reports of “a group of 6 to 8 males” who entered the store and attempted a theft, San Jose Police Department spokesman Sgt. Christian Camarillo told The Chronicle on Sunday.

Loss prevention employees tried to stop the suspects, and one female employee was assaulted, resulting in “minor to moderate injuries,” Camarillo said in an email.

When officers arrived, the suspects fled, police said.

Homeowner cooperating with HPD after killing intruder

By Patrina Adger
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A homeowner shot and killed a 31-year-old woman who was intruding into his house early Saturday morning on Houston’s East End, police say.

The shooting was called in to police at about 1:30 a.m. from the 7000 block of Avenue F near 70th.

According to HPD, the homeowner was in the kitchen when he saw a couple of suspicious people outside of his fence, so he grabbed his gun.

When he returned, one of the individuals was trying to push in the door.

I wasn’t there, but shooting through a door goes against the grain. Something about knowing ones target, and what is beyond.

“I wasn’t there, but shooting through a door goes against the grain.”
Being an entry door, it most likely had some glass in the door, however big or small, clear or opaque, allowing him to see what was coming.
In handguns, .38Spl is my favorite. I have a Taurus wheel gun in .38Spl, that I usually carry along with my M&P 9MM. With a casing twice as long as the 9MM/.380 ammo it is easy to see why it is a stopper.

When bullets hit windows they do some awfully weird stuff and not consistently either.

Um, Frankie Cee . . . the .38 Special is effectively the same caliber (e.g., within 0.002″) as a 9mm and generally has substantially less muzzle energy than most 9mm Parabellum rounds. That’s true for standard and +P ammunition. And it doesn’t have much more muzzle energy than the .380 ACP (AKA 9mm Short) which is also the same caliber.

Now, if you want to talk .357 Magnum . . . different story. But I wouldn’t recommend firing .357 Magnum ammo from most .38 Special revolvers.

You normally can’t fire 357 Mag cartridges from a 38 Spl revolver. Cartridge too long & cylinder too short to fit & work.

True, but they’ll reputedly chamber in some. Doing this is NOT a good idea, as the .357 Mag round is specified to produce up to 2x the max chamber pressure of the .38 Special.

Some firearms chambered for the older .38 Long Colt may also be problematic, as they have straight sided chambers and will supposedly chamber either .38 Special or .357 Mag. Using .357 Mag in that type of firearm is an ever worse idea. (Using .38 Special is also a bad idea, but I’d guess you’re more likely to get away with that if you use a standard .38 Special round vice +P.)

Found this feel-good story one over on vidmax, this morning. It’s not nice to steal an 87 year old gramma’s purse… and a good guy took appropriate action 🙂

This one is even better, but the video stops just before the kid initiates the field expedient facial reconstruction surgery. The guys new street name is Pizza Face.

Do you recall the snow shoveling incident from earlier this year, in the Scranton area, where some serious issues were “resolved”.

Not exactly a feel-good story though the payback feature is strongly featured.

Be forewarned, this shootout is “over the top” as some may say.

Wow! Vivid video demonstration not to poke the bear. The retired Navy vet did society a favor by shooting himself as the end of this double murder/suicide. This is the most graphic and egregious video I have ever seen of an acrimonious neighbors’ dispute.

There is a considerable amount of background to the story… you might imagine.

Dang it took him 7 rounds to get lined up but when he finally got’r sited in he took care of business.

Lisa Goy was a piece of work, begging him to do it.

Oops. I see you beat me to this one.

A good outcome indeed.

Outstanding job to the young man who chased down the purse snatcher. He got in some good hits there. I hope the thief has a long time to recover in the grey bar hotel.

Some of them fed up civilians are putting the word out on the streets. Let’s see some more!
