It appears that the new variant Delta form of the coronavirus, which originated in India, is now affecting China. More than 300 new cases have been spotted in the last 10 days.

One of those people traveling from Moscow had the Delta variant of Covid-19. After they left the plane, staff from the Nanjing Lukou airport swooped in to pick up their rubbish.
According to Chinese officials, when those cleaners exited the aircraft they brought the virus along with them to the outside world – sparking what has now become China’s widest outbreak since Wuhan.
One of the biggest challenges for authorities, as Zhang appeared to hint at, is how to convince a risk averse Chinese public.
“There was this massively traumatic experience they had, seeing what happened in Wuhan where their health systems were completely overwhelmed. If they reopen, they are afraid that the Chinese health system would not be able to handle [another surge], especially in rural areas,” said Prof Huang.

Now, understand that viruses mutate and shift their antigens constantly, which is why you have to get a flu vaxx in the fall, before flu season starts – unless you WANT the misery of the flu inflicted upon your whoreson souls.
Most variants of viruses are harmless and frack off quickly, but some stick around, hence a new influenza shot being due next fall. Oh, yeah, that’s only a few weeks away, so if you’re going to get a booster for Covid, get the flu shot first.
The important thing about coronavirus is its spike proteins, which attach to human cells to start the whole sordid business of infecting the host. Those spike proteins seem to be more aggressive than the average virus, but that could be due to the disastrous effects of the disease itself.
I’m curious to find out just what will go on in China, since their denial of reality is always disastrously stupid. If that weren’t so, then why and how did the coronavirus spread in the first place????

I haven’t had a flu shot since 1998; I haven’t had the flu since 1991. Doesn’t matter though, the flu magically disappeared when the china bug showed up, and after enduring the first political virus circus, I’ve chosen not to participate in this one, or the next one, or the next one…
Truth. I managed to finagle my way out of flu shots my last 5 years on active duty. Once I stopped taking that shot, I somehow managed to stop getting sick. Shocking.
It’s amazing what eating fairly well, drinking more water than soft drinks/beer, and generally taking decent care of your body will do for you.
As they began the hype and panic campaigns over the Delta Variant, a few other outlets started spazzing about a Lambda Variant spawned in Central and South America. NOW let’s just guess about those pouring over our Southern Border and assume whether or not the current administration WANTS more people infected with this Chinese CRAP so they can demand more and more control over our personal lives and business.
But API®™, the Gubermunt(US of A & Canada) just wants all of it’s highly prized and revered citizens to have HEARD IMMUNITY – nothing nefarious about it/sarc

I never bought the hype when this crap FIRST came out last year. Had some co-workers in genuine PANIC when it first came out, when Fauci was spewing his doom and gloom numbers about “millions dead” in the US alone. I knew it was a crock then.
If we don’t have the homeless laying dead in the streets; due to poor health to begin with…..then who is this thing killing?

The ‘millions dead’ line is just math – early on, the initial estimates of mortality were pretty high. I think I recall seeing even 5% in the very early, fog-of-war sort of information that was coming out. But even if it was just 1%, and highly transmissible so 60% of the country got it, that would still be ~2M dead here.
Thankfully, early estimates of mortality were greatly overestimated for a large variety of reasons, and it’s considerably less deadly in practice – with high variability showing that the elderly are much more susceptible. But the point is, it’s pretty easy to reach ‘millions dead’, and wasn’t outside the realm of possibility based on what we were hearing early on.
Mostly older people. 333K men, 301K of whom (90.5%) were 55+ years of age. And 274K women, 257K of whom (93.8%) were 55+. But no, most doctors aren’t lying about cause of death, even though some mistakes happen.

A virus does 3 things. It infects, multiplies and mutates. That is the reason there is no vaccine for the “common cold” and why there is a different flu shot every year. Coincidentally the medical sleuths go to china every year to try and determine what variety of the flu will be traveling the world next.
