Trooper escorts woman in labor to hospital after pulling her over for speeding
Kentucky state trooper says he had to switch from ‘pursuit’ mode to rushing a woman in labor to the hospital

By Emma Colton
A Kentucky state trooper escorted a woman in labor to the hospital after he pulled her over for speeding.

“I went from, you know, thinking that I was in a vehicle pursuit to how am I going to get the lady that’s in labor to the hospital as fast as I can,” Trooper Jason Adkison, of the Kentucky State Police, told WBKO.

The situation unfolded on an interstate in Elizabethtown, as Adkison headed back to Bowling Green from training in Frankfort.

“I couldn’t believe that this person just passed me at that speed approaching from the rear,” Adkison recounted.

“I was kind of mentally, you know, preparing myself for that, to go into pursuit mode, and turn on my siren. She’s still not stopping initially. And eventually, she pulls over after a couple of miles,” he said.

No score.

Tucson PD: Alleged shoplifter running from business struck, killed by driver

TUCSON, Ariz. – A man who was reportedly running from a business he had shoplifted from was struck and killed by a driver in Tucson on Saturday, says the police department.

Just after 9 p.m. in the area of Wilmont Road and Broadway Boulevard, officers responded to a 911 call about a man who was hit by a car, says Tucson Police Officer Roman Acosta.

The man, Nicholas James Hernandez, 32, was rushed to the hospital but died soon after.

Acosta says the incident happened when Hernandez shoplifted from a business in the area, ran into the street and then was hit by a car.

I hope the car wasn’t TOO badly damaged, and that the store owner was able to recover all the store’s property (again, undamaged).
I can’t say the same for the thief.

Good on the sooper trooper for going from pursuit to escort so quickly.

A TV interview of him saying he went Rodney King because his “training kicked in” would’ve been very bad for his superiors, of course…

BZ to the KSP for his “just another day at the office” action. Good example of the many ways that they “serve and protect”. Thought y’all might like a “warm and fuzzy” FGS for a little change. Cool pics in the linky. I ^LIKE^ the KSP Trooper Bear.

Guess Mr. Hernandez’s Mama didn’t teach him that whole “cross at the crosswalk and look both ways before you cross the street.” He missed that “thou shalt not steal” part in Bible Study too. Good Riddance to the trash, and I too, hope the car is OK.

Gunz reviewer throwed a lot of rocks at Glock. Heh heh. Sang the praises of the Sig. Might make one wonder if Glock and the buyer for the feebees might of had a little collusion going on.

In an attempt to imitate the Onion News, the first story should have read:
“Kentucky Trooper fails to shoot woman in labor as she sped by him during miles long highway pursuit!”

Congrats to the young mother and the Trooper! I can only imagine what it was like driving herself to the hospital while in labor…I remember my wife screaming at me while we drove with our first (I mistakenly listened to the On Call “doctor” who said she would be fine waiting four or five more hours)!
