Ready to mask back up?

| July 22, 2021

If they do make people put their masks back on, regardless of vaccination status, they might as well “hang up” on their efforts to get more people vaccinated. (IMGFLIP)

Joe Biden and company are playing around with the idea of requiring Americans to mask back up. It does not matter if one is vaccinated or not. This consideration is in response to rising cases of the Delta variant coronavirus. Staff from the White House is in communication with the CDC to discuss safety precautions going forward.

From Fox News:

People familiar with the discussions told the Post that the White House is hesitant to implement policies that would explicitly mandate people show proof of their vaccination status. One idea reportedly thrown around was to ask Americans to wear masks when vaccinated and unvaccinated people not to congregate in crowded places.

The talks come as COVID-19 cases have nearly tripled in the U.S. in recent weeks, putting yet another strain on hospitals, and exhausting doctors.

The seven-day rolling average across the U.S. for daily new cases rose over the past two weeks to more than 37,000 on Tuesday, up from less than 13,700 on July 7, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

Health officials are blaming the delta variant and slowing vaccination rates. Barely more than 56% of Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC.

For now, they are just playing around with the idea. However, if the CDC recommends people putting their masks back on, some states may follow through and order a re-masking. You could read more here.

40% of Americans have had Covid, around 50% somewhat vaccinated. Shouldn’t that vaunted “herd immunity at 75%” be working by now?

Mason

Get the vaccine so you don’t have to wear a mask. Now that you’re vaccinated, you need to wear a mask again.

So it pointless to get vaccinated? I can’t see any of the vaccine holdouts being brought in for the big stick by this.

LC

I think you know this, but the mask wearing is largely to protect other people from what you exhale, as even vaccinated people can, it seems, be asymptomatic carriers for a little while, until they fight it off completely.

I’ve heard the Delta variant has a much higher viral load, so anything that reduces that, like masks, helps reduce spread.

https://www.businessinsider.com/covid-expert-vaccinated-people-can-spread-the-delta-variant-2021-7

If you haven’t gotten the vaccine, I hope you do soon. The overwhelming majority of deaths right now are among unvaccinated people.

OldManchu

Why do I, or anyone else, need to protect other people from a virus with a 99.8% survivability rate?

Should I also remove the soda and snacks from other folks grocery carts in the store when they are obese and killing themselves with what they put in the cart?

Roh-Dog

Carful there, OM. Anyone comin’ for my smokes or hootch * best come loaded for bear.

*or force me to take some BS “‘medical intervention'”

LC

Because controlling an infectious disease seems like something we should do, as these are preventable deaths? And I’m also going to hazard there’s a wee difference between a physically communicable disease and … snacks.

Ultimately it comes down to whether you’re willing to help your community and your country out, and, with no intention of being glib, balancing that with your personal freedom. I’m not about to give up my Jeep and go all green to save the planet, but some things seem more urgent to me, and I’d do whatever it takes to help. For example, if, for whatever magical reason, wearing a mask in stores would help stop suicides among military veterans, I’d absolutely do it. Call me a sheep, but I feel that mask is about as much of an inconvenience to me as wearing pants. No big deal. And that’s to save only 1% of those who’ve died from COVID.

Now, maybe you don’t know anyone who has died from this virus. I do. I don’t want to see any other kids mourning a parent that didn’t have a to die. So if I can do my part by getting a shot and wearing a mask, yeah, you but your fucking ass I will, and I’ll encourage others, like Mason, to do so as well.

For that matter, I hope you change your mind. And that your family stays save. I don’t like you, but I don’t want you or anyone you know to be sick and/or die.

rgr769

READ THE BRIEF, and then tell us if you think the regime in power should be goading people into vaccinating/inoculating their children and those who have already had the ChiCom virus and recovered.

If I were the judge, I would issue that preliminary injunction.

rgr769

And I am referencing Forrest Bondurant’s link below.

OldManchu

Nah…. no need to read that. LC and Lars and the like just spout what politicians say.

“Wear a mask to protect others. Save lives…. blah blah blah”

LC

I told Mason I hope he gets the shot – unless I’m wrong, he’s not a child, right?

It’s clearly the case that children are at less risk of dying than older people, so I think advocating for children to get it -while likely still a net plus- is a much harder sell.

And people who’ve already had it? Yes, I think absent evidence to the contrary, it makes sense to get it. The immune response seems related to the viral load, so plenty of people have had mild cases and have some protection, but not as much as a shot would confer.

If you go strictly by the numbers -that is, adverse effects of the vaccine vs benefits- it seems a simple choice.

Mason

I identify as a child. If you ask my wife, I am also about as mature as a child. 😉

“Because controlling an infectious disease seems like something we should do, as these are preventable deaths? ” Are you speaking of the true deaths? Or the ridiculous hyped up “covid deaths?” Don’t feign ignorance either. You are obviously an intelligent person and you are well aware of the lies stemming from power and control. I know several who died of “covid” yes. One was 94 years old, a great depression greatest generation champ of a great aunt. Oh… no symptoms. But as she faded on her last days on earth, before dying very peacefully in her sleep, she was “positive” for covid. She went into the death tally. No symptoms. Then there was a great uncle. A veteran of the Korean war era. Living happily for 15 years after a quadruple bypass and a life of smoking before the bypass. After hanging our with grandkids one evening, he began to turn blue at his extremities. After an ambulance trip to the ER late that night, he coded three times but died early the next morning on the third. Heart attack. He was “positive” for covid when they checked him into the ER. No symptoms. He went into the tally. A third, middle aged friend (respiratory therapist) had classic covid symptoms. Took a consistent downhill path while in the covid ward of the hospital. Unfortunately succumbed to it as his body quit uptaking oxygen. He died of covid. He had some very serious comorbidities around obesity. I’m not a doctor. I don’t know if those were a factor or not. He went into the tally. And your veteran suicide analogy was ignorant. But for the record, my Family and I and many in my community put in some serious sweat equity hours annually volunteering with an event that has testimony after testimony from troubled (and not troubled) veterans who attend of making a difference in their mindset. You probably do things as well I’m not saying you don’t. What about the psychological effect of masking people especially children? We have yet to see the price tag for that foolishness. So regarding… Read more »

Are you speaking of the true deaths? Or the ridiculous hyped up “covid deaths?” Don’t feign ignorance either. You are obviously an intelligent person and you are well aware of the lies stemming from power and control. Deaths being incorrectly attributed to COVID happen, yes. Not on a huge scale, though. This is why there’s a decent tracking of fatality rates across countries. If the US were cooking the books, it wouldn’t look that way. Unless you’re suggesting multiple countries -like Spain, Chile, Mexico, the US, the UK, Poland, Italy, Croatia, etc- are all in on some massive conspiracy, since all are within a reasonable level of noise on this metric? If you think there’s that level of power and control across multiple countries, … who is it? The shadowy ‘elite’, or are we in full Illuminati territory here? There’s also the issue, as I suspect might be the case with your great uncle, of not understanding a cause of death and a finding on an autopsy. Plenty of cases where people said someone died of COVID have, instead, been proven incorrect – COVID was listed as a positive test, but not the cause of death. Again, how else do you explain the relatively small distribution of death rates across countries? On a different note, thank you for the work you and your family do with volunteering. I don’t know why it was ignorant; it’s a cause that matters to me, too, and I do what I can to help it. I was simply saying that for me, if wearing a mask somehow magically helped, I’d do it in a heartbeat, even though it affects far fewer people than COVID. Again, it’s balancing an inconvenience with a greater good. I don’t do that for every inconvenience / greater good, because there are far too many good causes needing time or money than one can count. But I do feel this one is worth it, since yes, we’ve lost over 600K Americans to it already. Finally, wearing a mask or not getting a shot doesn’t ‘kill’ someone, no. It’s not a… Read more »

OldManchu

Exactly. I just gave LC two out of three examples. And he thinks my Family doesn’t know how to read the cause of death…

Not to mention he can’t discuss the false numbers attributed to covid. He has to go straight to illuminati accusations. Never mind that there is power and egos involved in wielding power at local, state and national levels by covid fear. It’s human nature. But he assumes that I suggested it all be from one string puller across the world.

Mason

Ultimately it comes down to whether you’re willing to help your community and your country out, and, with no intention of being glib, balancing that with your personal freedom.

Since the majority of people here have (often repeatedly and for years or decades) sacrificed for their community and country so that we have personal freedom, I’m not a fan of calling our patriotism into question here, LC. Individual liberty is the cornerstone on which this country was built, and why it’s risen to where we have.

The mask may not be an inconvenience to you. Nobody is saying if you want to wear a mask that you can’t. You do you. The mask to many though is an inconvenience.

I got the vaccine. I have my reasons. I don’t care if someone else has gotten it. Not my business. My getting the vaccine was a personal choice and should remain a choice (as all other vaccines are). I know many people here on this site have also gotten the vaccine. I bet if we took a poll the number of vaccinated would surprise you. This is all despite this being an experimental vaccine and the folks around here knowing from personal experience the incompetence of the US Government.

Hate_me

I still blame the explosions and gunfire for my tinnitus, more than the anthrax series.

I’m not anti-vaccine, but after so many un-asked-for shots, it just felt good to be able to say, “no.”

Until it gains FDA approval and I’m forced to take it (orders are orders), I’ll keep saying no.

I’m not especially afraid of either, but potential sides effects concern me much more than the actual disease.

LC

Since the majority of people here have (often repeatedly and for years or decades) sacrificed for their community and country so that we have personal freedom, I’m not a fan of calling our patriotism into question here, LC. I certainly wasn’t calling anyone’s patriotism into question, Mason – if it came across that way, I apologize for not making my point more clear. We all make decisions about balancing our personal interests with those of our community on a daily basis – it could be as simple as choosing to pick up some litter on the sidewalk to keep the area cleaner (takes a little time, helping in a virtually negligible way) to donating blood, to volunteering with various organizations, to, yes, getting vaccinated to help control a pandemic. Again, I’ve got a Jeep, and have tree-hugger friends who suggest I get rid of it to ‘protect the environment’. Am I doing that? No. And you can make an argument that increased pollution results in more deaths, etc., but the effect seems incredibly small for the effort. So to me, it’s not worth it. The vaccine and masks, on the other hand, seem very worth it to me, given the number of deaths we’ve seen across the country… and the families I personally know who’ve lost someone. So, I advocate for people getting it. I think it’s a no-brainer. I don’t think I’ve been rude about it here, and I simply said the cost/benefit seems extremely obvious in terms of one’s personal time, freedom, etc. And like masks, I don’t expect my words will magically be 100% effective.. hell, I’ll settle for 5% effective. If I can get someone to hear a different perspective and consider it, great. I just hate losing more fellow Americans, and people around the world, to something that’s easily preventable. I’ll admit I don’t get the argument that a mask is an inconvenience to any real degree, at least for 99+% of the people out there. You wanna change my mind, go for it. As for all vaccines being a personal choice, I see a… Read more »

Mason

On the inconvenience of masks, I’ll list just a couple of mine.
* I wear glasses, so they always make the glasses fog up.
*For some reason, they make my nose run like a faucet. That means I have to take it off/down repeatedly to clear my nose.
*They hinder basic face-to-face communication. God forbid trying to talk to someone on the phone or through a drive-thru speaker wearing one.
*They are a facial irritant and cause in-grown hairs and/or “maskne”

Dictionary definition of “Inconvenience” is;
n.trouble or difficulty caused to one’s personal requirements or comfort.
v.cause trouble or difficulty to.

I think I’ve got both definitions covered. Calling them an inconvenience is being generous. There’s a reason everyone who wears respiratory protection removes it the moment they’re able to. Doctors leave surgery and throw off their N95. Fire fighters get out of the structure fire and take off their SCBA. When we called “Alarm Green; MOPP 2” I never once saw anyone leave their mask on. In fact, the person making said announcement would be one of the first to remove their masks, because they are, at their most basic, inconvenient.

I don’t really give a shit about my fellow man anymore. But I also am very antisocial, so my interactions with my fellow man are very limited. With a disease that affected roughly .0000366 percent of the population, and killed less than 1 percent of those, I am not going to go out of the way to do anything about it. It was a legit disease, but it was also the biggest psyops event of our time.

Forest Bondurant

Interesting.

Closely related to this, there was a motion for preliminary injunction regarding “all things COVID” which was filed with the U.S. District Court in Alabama, which might be of interest to a lot of readers here. It’s 60 something pages, so…

PDF version found at: https://edgarcountywatchdogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/516493624-Motion-for-Preliminary-Injunction-File-Stamped.pdf

(I don’t know how to attach an actual PDF document here, which is why I’m providing a link).

Mason

Only about 12 pages in. Wow.

It would be nice if the term “emergency” hadn’t been so misused over the years. We still have a “National Emergency” that dates from the Carter Administration! A 41-year-old problem is no longer an emergency.

LC

I just took a cursory look at this, too, but I’m already calling shenanigans. The very first falsifiable thing I looked up was wrong, which certainly isn’t a good start for the veracity of the filing.

On page 6, it lists manufacturer’s recommended cycle threshold (Ct) values, which is a technique used in PCR tests. I picked the Quest one randomly, where the document above claims Quest recommends a Ct of 40, yet their own documentation, seen in this link below, shows numbers above 35 being unacceptable.

Page 8, section 4, here, for the RC version of the Quest test:
https://www.fda.gov/media/140234/download

And more detail, showing a more thorough sensitivity analysis here, on page 18, section 1:
https://www.fda.gov/media/136231/download

You can see that lower Ct values correspond to a greater accuracy of the test, and the line beneath table 1 explicitly says that samples with Ct >= 40 are considered not detected. Averages range from 30-36, with lower being better.

Now, it’s possible I magically stumbled on the only thing wrong in an otherwise perfect report from the group that includes the woman who ranted about ‘demon sperm’… but that seems unlikely. So I hope your ‘wow’ was more akin to, “Wow, this is quite the work of fiction!”. After all, I too love a good yarn. 😉

Fully agree on the ‘National Emergency’ stuff though.

The CHICOMS would love to see it. They’ll foment and feed off of the panic and fear over this variant as much as they can. They’ll help to generate as much hype as possible, because it suits their economic and geopolitical agendas. And they know us. They know they can play the Biden administration and the CDC, who will help perpetuate the economic chaos and destruction. It’s all to their advantage, and we’ll play our part perfectly, with Fauci and the Biden administration eager and willing to participate. And the CHICOMS will laugh as it all unfolds.

Ex-PH2

wear masks when vaccinated — the whole point to getting a vaxx was/is to NOT have to wear a mask.

This ain’t the Middle Ages, when plagues swept through Europe like a warm knife going through butter. And those bird-beaked masks were likely more effective than these silly things we’re supposed to carry along with us nowadays.

This is just silly. Instead of a real plan, it’s “DO SOMETHING!!!”

Don’tcha just love it when idiots prevail???

OldManchu

I Successfully resisted all the masking last go round. I suppose I’ll do the same this time. Hopefully with a few more people willing to not comply this time around.

No I didn’t get in any confrontations or Karen situations at all. Simply quietly did not comply.

Not taking the vaccine either. I had Covid in May 2021 and am full of antibodies (took an antibodies test) but I wouldn’t take the vaccine regardless.

Oh, and fuck you Lars.

You are better protected by your antibodies than any of us who were inoculated with this experimental substance that is not really a vaccine. If I had read that brief in support of the preliminary injunction, I doubt I would have consented to those two injections.

OldManchu

Could you explain that to my coworkers? Lol.

rgr769

Well, you could hold a gun on them and make them read the legal brief linked above. But then they would likely not comprehend most of it; and you would end up in handcuffs in the back of a squad car.

The bottom line is that the pubic has been sold a bill of goods by a massive government/media propaganda campaign that is now on steroids.

Ummmm……….no. Just. No.
I caught the coof late last year & survived quite well, ThankYouVeryMuch.
So now I have “natural immunity” which should be good for the rest of my life against the original WuFlu and all its mutations and variants (which get more contagious but less deadly).
Speaking of “another strain on hospitals”……is this the same panic plague that (didn’t) overcrowd hospitals (shown on videos as empty)? And (didn’t) need hospital ships and military mobile MASH-style units? Interrrrresting………
“rising cases of the Delta variant coronavirus”…..how many ACTUAL serious life threatening hospital admissions are there for this DEADLY “new” coof mutation? Versus hospital capacity and general population? I.E., what is the survivability rate? 99.9+%? Verified as Delta mutation?

Roh-Dog

This again?! Really?
To back up a lot of y’all, the population that has natural, infection-conferred immunity and/or have taken one of these shots has got to be close to ‘herd immunity’.
Even if that wasn’t the case, what benefit does this policy have?
Even in the depths of the masking order I saw too many people touching surfaces and adjusting/removing their masks. Unf*ckingsat! (even IF they did help)
Not to mention the likelihood of bacterial pneumonia!
Last summer I had a sore throat, swollen tonsils, sinusitis, presenting with no elevated temperature… flat out told a store owner I couldn’t wear a mask because I was sick with a non-covid, non-respiratory illness.
The look on his face was priceless.
I’m not going to willfully concentrate and breathe in my own funk so I can get bronchitis.
