I feel like I’ve heard this song before. Jeff LPH 3 sends in this Reuters piece;

White House does not rule out Haiti request for U.S. troops

The United States is still reviewing a request for troops made by Haiti’s interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph to help secure its airport and other infrastructure after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise, the White House said on Monday.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Haiti’s political leadership remains unclear and that it was vital for the country’s leaders to come together to chart a united path forward.

“It’s still under review,” she said of Haiti’s request to send troops. Asked if it had been ruled out, Psaki said, “No.”

U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters later on Monday that his administration was “closely watching” developments in Haiti.

“The people of Haiti deserve peace and security, and Haiti’s political leaders need to come together for the good of their country,” Biden said.

I don’t know if you should be throwing stones from that particular glass house there, Mr. President. More at the source.

Isn’t Haiti required by international law to have some sort of violent uprising every 3-5 years?

  2. MI Ranger says:

Wow, another deployment to Haiti…I have fond memories of the last time we went there…NOT!

    • AW1Ed says:

A former squadron-mate of mine was O-In-C of a small Mobile Operations Center there, last time. He carried an M9 everywhere he went, and had to let one of his Petty Officers go for trading MREs for sexual favors with the locals.
      What a garden spot.

      haiti dom rep

Haiti to the West, Dominican Republic to the East.

Instead of US Military Troops, maybe we could find some sort of Charitable Foundation that could go in and provide help to the Haitian People. You know, like when there is an earthquake or tropical storm type of event. IIRC, there is a group that has had experience in just that sort of undertaking, in that same country from about 10 or so years back. I believe that the Haitian People would welcome the return of that Foundation with open arms.

    • penguinman000 says:

Perhaps if they get another half billion $$$ they could build another 6 houses too!

      • rgr769 says:

And then there would be 10% to be held in trust for The Big Guy to fund his care in an exclusive home for the severely bewildered. His bro can handle the construction contracts for those six houses.

  4. Ex-PH2 says:

Why not round up the BLMs and send them down there?

  5. David says:

Dems… protesting wars that they initiated for over 50 years.

  6. NECCSeabeCPO says:

That hell hole sucks, deployed there three fucking times and it sucked. In 95, we were not allowed to carry weapons. We had to have training on OC spray at UN camp,Before would could convoy our in town, to helps those fucks out

  7. rgr769 says:

A violent, corrupt dictatorship seems to be the only form of government that works in Haiti. One thing you could say about ol’ Papa Doc, he kept order.

Too bad they can’t figure out a controlled corruptocrat/deep state
form of government like the one run out of DC by the DNC.

    Remember “ol King Cole” cadence?

“We want our war -now- said the Generals…”

    • rgr1480 says:

“War, war, war!” said the generals
      Brave men are we.

But there’s none so fair that they can compare

      to the Airborne Infantry.”

      (*___^)

      • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Somewhere out there is an opportunity for serious Historian work on the changes to cadences over time.

  9. MCPO USN says:

Quite a statement when the Dominican Republic doesn’t ever want to help out the Haitians…

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

But the lefties won’t hesitate to set up a bogus charity and steal most of the money from it!

  10. USMC Steve says:

    Let. It. Burn.

We have been to Haiti countless times, and after we fixed it, they crapped it all up in record time. Back when the Marines were going in there every other week, or there on a relatively permanent basis, they behaved properly, because if they didn’t the Marines killed them.

  11. Old tanker says:

It pretty much sounds like Haiti is the penultimate liberal utopia where there is no Police Dept managing the population so they are free to do as they please. Perhaps the city clowncils of some demokrat cities (portland seattle shitcago detroit, minneapolis etc etc) should go and see just how enlightened their liberal ideas really are.

    • A Proud Infidel®™️ says:

History tells us that every time we mention that they’ll reply with “OH NO, they’re just not doing it right, watch US do it…”
