Haiti’s President Assassinated

| July 7, 2021

Haiti’s president Jovenel Moïse was assassinated last night in his private residence, according to Claude Joseph, the country’s acting prime minister. The first lady was wounded in the attack by a bullet. Her condition has not been released, except that she is receiving care in another country.

“This was a highly coordinated attack by a highly trained and heavily armed group,” he recounted in a statement, according to a CNN translation.

OAM sends.

President of Haiti Jovenel Moise, 53, is assassinated by ‘gunmen claiming to be DEA agents speaking in English and Spanish’ in night-time raid on his home that also left his wife seriously injured

By ROSS IBBETSON

A group of ‘foreigners’, some of whom spoke English and Spanish, broke into Mr Moise’s home in the hills above Port-au-Prince at around 1am on Wednesday, according to a statement by country’s prime minister.

The 53-year-old was shot dead and the First Lady Martine, 47, was left fighting for her life after what PM Claude Joseph called a ‘hateful, inhumane and barbaric act’.

Haiti’s embassy in the Dominican Republic said the First Lady has since been flown to another country for treatment.

In footage purportedly recorded by a witness, someone with an American accent shouts into a megaphone: ‘DEA operation. Everybody stand down. DEA operation. Everybody back up, stand down.’

Mr Moise had been accused of turning Haiti into a dictatorship, refusing to relinquish the presidency after his term ended, using armed gangsters to spread fear among the populace and of trying to change the constitution to consolidate power – including installing an intelligence agency that answered directly to him.

He also was about to replace Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph, too. Isn’t that interesting.

Thanks, OAM.

Interesting… Just read this:
according to Agence France-Presse –

11 mins ago (19:54 GMT)
US says elections in Haiti should move forward

The United States said elections scheduled for later this year should go forward to provide a path forward for Haiti after President Jovenel Moïse’s assassination.

“It is still the view of the United States that elections this year should proceed,” State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters, saying that a fair vote would “facilitate a peaceful transfer of power to a newly elected president”.

Price said the US believed that “President Moise’s term was to end next year” while the president’s opponents had contended, he finished his time in office earlier this year.

Presidential and legislative elections were to be held on September 26 with a second round to be held on November 21.

Hey, we were just talking about Afghanistan but here’s a nice reminder of another 3rd world shithole we tried to “rescue” with armed force and ended up spending US blood and treasure on, only for it to end up just as bad as it was before.

Any other OUD vets here? I was at FOB 33 in Gonaives from Sep 94 to Feb 95 with 3/3 SFG.

Haiti was BY FAR the shittiest place I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to Afghanistan AND Iraq.

Hatchet

Nope. But my uncle was(RCMP) posted to Haiti and told us it was THE worst filth-pit he’d ever had the misfortune to be posted at. Not surprisingly, he retired six months after returning home. Barely knowing the half of it – many kudos’ to those that actually did serve there.

I remember these guys- I forget the name of the program, but the UN paid cops from all over to teach the HNP NOT to simply beat the people for no reason.

Interesting now that we know all cops are bastards…

Yeah, I was in Baghdad and Basra but Cite Sole (the inner slums of Port au Prince) were right out of a dystopian science fiction movie.

I did foot patrols there day/night middle of summer of ‘96. There was a low to moderate threat level of being shot at, but my greatest fear was falling down into the raw human and animal waste in the street.

This was BEFORE the earthquake made it really bad…

The puzzling thing is: Why stage a coup in Haiti? Even if you “win” you still lose.

Hatchet

*shrug* Strategic geographical location..? Agreed. A coup makes no apparent sense.

Hack Stone

Remember a year or so back when that Camp Lejeune Marine tried to go coup coup for Coco Puffs in Haiti? Whatever happened to that guy?

They can’t decide if they want to be a Big Turd in a Little Toilet, or a Little Turd in a Big Toilet.

What exactly is there to win? It’d be like winning Somalia. The one in Africa, not Minnesota.

There is still something to steal, even in Haiti. And being a big fish in a small pond is still better than being a small fish in a small pond.

Ask the Clinton Foundation.

Also further read that Moïse seemed to be reverting Haiti into another dictatorship. But a DEA hit-squad? Talk about flailing in the dark.

Here we go with the fucking Blue helmets again.

Martinjmpr

Well, they did such a great job last time, right? And the time before that, and the time before that…

And the sad thing is there are generals and colonels right now who are SALIVATING at the prospect of going back to Haiti because it will keep them from being put on the “what have you done for me lately?” list.

You can bet that with the drawdown in Afghanistan, there is a BIG drawdown coming. As sure as the sun rises, Congress is going to look at the military budget and wonder “where can we cut?”

Military commanders (especially Army) are going to be scrambling to try and make themselves “relevant” to the current world situation because not being relevant is the quickest way to have your battalion or brigade be the next one on the DoD chopping block.

It’s gonna be a whole new “woke” Army with critical race theory and the country’s
second largest defense contractor RTN jumping on board:

And guess who was on the board of directors at Raytheon from 2016 until his appointment as head of DOD. Yup, Gen. Austin.

I find it scary that RT is more American than American news these days. It’s bad when the Russian propaganda site is exposing Anti-Americanism in America.

How far we’ve fallen.

There is still a whole continent, Africa, to “save”. Strangely enough, Al Qaeda has grown like a weed since we went to A’stan to destroy it. And now all those little branch offices of Al Qaeda need to be whacked “before they come over here”.

Martinjmpr

Heck, let’s start a pool:

According to Wikipedia, there were 31 Brigade Combat Teams in the US Army as of 2018 (apparently that’s the most current info they have, if someone has a more current number, post it up here.)

How many of those get cut next year? I’m going to say 10, minimum, most of them the heavy/armored brigades that are the most expensive to maintain.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost a division HQ or two either. Does Fort Hood NEED two divisions? Do we NEED a division HQ at Fort Drum (10th Mountain) AND at Fort Campbell (101st Airborne?)

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Drum cut down to a single BCT under the 101st.

Speaking of Fort Drum, I don’t see why they ever reactivated Drum in the 1980’s anyway. It is far away from most transportation routes (except for the St. Lawrence Seaway, which is a pretty roundabout way of deploying), and it is not located in any kind of “strategic” position (unless we anticipate going to war with Canada, that is.)

Fort Drum dwindled down to almost nothing after WWII, and for good reason I think.

I can’t help but wonder if the building up of Drum in the 1980s (when the 10th Mountain division was reactivated) was some kind of political payoff to the NY Congressional delegation because I can’t think of any other reason for it to be there.

My moneys on both the 4th ID (again) and the 1st ID both going away.

SteeleyI

You are wrong but not far off.

MDO calls for MDO Task Forces rather than BCTs. MDOTFs are built around Fires Brigades- LRPF, AD/BMD, and a lot of cyber/EW/MI/Space. A little bit of infantry/armor for security.

This is why the “My Two Mommies” commercial featured a Patriot Soldier. We have plenty of potential 11/13/19 Soldiers, but filling the 24/35/17 ranks is tough- smart, clearance, no face tattoos, no drugs

Meet the new boss.
Same as the old boss.

Hack Stone has the utmost confidence that Hillary Clinton had nothing to do with this death. If she was involved, they would have found him rolled up in a rug at Fort Marcy Park.

The Clinton Foundation stands ready to once again provide much needed emergency aid to the people of Haiti. Your donation is appreciated.

So in the last 200 years, Hati has had what, 30, 40 coups? This is just par for the course, I think the longest stretch of peace they had was when we occupied them in the late 19th, early 20th century? This is just par for the course.

So we forgot about the seven contractors arrested, but not charged for weapons charges and some other shit in 2019. Two US Navy SEAL’S the two Christopher’s,one was deep and I mean deep into the QONAN Rabbit hole. Just saying they got pulled out and zero charges. Smells funny down there.
