Facebook popup warns users of potential exposure to extremists

Many Facebook users received a message warning them that they may have been exposed to extremists. One of these messages stated that extremists would try to leverage people’s anger and disappointment to take action. The user has the option to “get support”.
Facebook provided information aimed to counter extremism. One “sign” that they warn about are arguments blaming immigrants, Blacks, or another group for problems.

There appear to be two different messages that certain Facebook users are receiving. One message asks “Are you concerned that someone you know is becoming an extremist?”
The other message comes to users by their names, and states “You may have been exposed to harmful extremist content recently,” going on to state that “Violent groups try to manipulate your anger and disappointment. You can take action now to protect yourself and others.Both of these messages have a button users can click on to “Get Support.”
The Twitter thread goes on to say “whether these alerts are triggered by a ‘bunch of algorithms’ or a trained complex neural network remains a mystery to the public. The same applies to the ranking of content in the ‘personalized’ newsfeed. There is no external oversight or transparency for any of this.”

Most of us that are parents spent a lot of time giving advice and guidance to our children. Sometimes they took it, sometimes they didn’t.

In the grand scheme of things, there is NO privacy or unknown data about any of us anymore. What has not been hacked from medical records, banks, on line sales, or whatever, is out there for the finding. Rest assured, Big Brother is monitoring this site and taking notes.

Agreed, if you’re on my Facebook friends list you’re probably getting that notice and being asked if I’m some sort of extremist loon…because I tend to point out how much our Government is not to be trusted, especially as it continually seeks to infringe upon our rights.

(What they’re really saying is Facebook is monitoring what people post, and if those posts are antithetical to FB’s “values”, they will begin banning those users for violating their community standards.)
Interesting how one of the “signs” they warn about are arguments that blame immigrants, blacks, or another group for problems.
Since CRT seems to be taking a foothold in some areas of the country, including most social media platforms, “whites” are should be considered another group that is getting the blame for the problems of others, but I’m not holding my breath that FB will address those extremist views.

One does not merely delete an account… there is a waiting period of at least 30 days.
