Congrats to you Sir!

Commissioner Wretched

Accepting the fact that I missed being FIRST by just a few minutes, I’ll settle for fourth. In place of pouting, though, I’ll send up this week’s trivia column for all of you to enjoy! DID YOU KNOW…? Who is really being depicted in the famous painting, “American Gothic”? By Commissioner Wretched Less than two weeks to go until summer 2021 arrives! Think back to the summer of 2020. (I know, it’s scary, it’s frightening, but humor me for a moment.) Most were stuck inside, not able to enjoy ourselves, not able to do what we normally do, during the “long, hot summer.” It’s different this year. Worth celebrating, don’t you think? I am celebrating it every day! How, you wonder? Well, in this case, I’m celebrating the arrival of summer with some specially crafted trivia. Be sure to check this space next week, too, for the promised “all silly laws” edition of the column. Laws are written against having that much fun! Did you know … … the term for a group of porcupines is very appropriate? As we all know, collective plural words for animals can be very elegant – a parliament of swans, for instance – or very sinister, such as a murder of crows. But when you get to porcupines, it gets very descriptive and accurate. A gathering of porcupines is called … a prickle. (That could explain all the porcupines in Congress, couldn’t it?) … your credit score affects more than just loans and mortgages? Some insurance companies consider credit scores when determining rates for life and auto insurance in states where it is legally allowed. Employers and landlords can also pull credit reports on those who want to work or rent from them. (Wonder what a credit score with a “–” in front of it means? Asking for a friend.) … women have a better sense of smell than men do in odor detection, discrimination, and identification? (Especially if their significant other is wearing someone else’s perfume!) … a baby octopus is about the size of a flea when it is born, depending on… Read more »

My Man CW, another fine job, and our Thanks, again!

CW:

Once again, THANK YOU for posting your trivia column…

Did you play Trivia Pursuit in the 1980s?

Never knew about the Scrabble game with the French game (but as you stated, Now I Know!)

Was not surprised when you wrote “Americans don’t know much about their own history?”

Check out this 5 minute Jay Leno Video where he questions college kids…Scary…right??

Commissioner Wretched

Somehow, the answers in that video do not surprise me – and I was a teacher for almost 30 years.

I own three or four Trivial Pursuit games but nobody will play against me … whenever I play the home version of Jeopardy! I have to be the host because no one will challenge me.

I get my revenge by writing a trivia column!

Thanks for your kind words, my friend!

Recently my VSO had a get together for anyone who wanted to show up. The get together was for the public, not just for vets. Two phonies showed up. One of them didn’t say anything; he just got in the chow line and got himself all he could eat. The second begged and pleaded; he was asked what his MOS was and he responded he couldn’t remember, nor could he remember where he did his boot camp.

Perhaps the first one was a vet; nobody asked; his behavior was suspicious since he had no stories to tell, everyone else did; he sat by himself and didn’t socialize, everyone else did; but then again, some folks just don’t want to talk about things. From the way he looked, smelled, and dressed, folks figured he was living on the streets.

Nobody asked either one of them to explain why they were there. The door was open, c’mon in.

There’s lesson here somewhere. The first guy wanted to score some groceries and was rewarded. The second guy wanted all of his wishes fulfilled and went away disappointed.

For what it’s worth; the second phony was encouraged to eat before he was shown the door.

I wish the phonies would knock their nonsense off. If people need help they can get it.

i had my rotator cuff surgery this past tuesday and already i got two nurse visits to change the dressings and today the pt came and went through passive arm/shoulder movements and tommoro i have a cpm machine coming in to run the shoulder/arm through passive movements. insurance doesn’t cover it so it’s rented for 250.00 bucks a month. back in 2016 when i had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder, i didn’t see or use any of this stuff.

Had the cpm for one knee replacement, not the other (VA didn’t have enough.) Night and day difference, worth every penny. (Had one for neither rotator cuff surgery, wish I did!)

Graybeard

Here-ish.

Airborne Son in so much pain from his back he was crying this morning. Hoping he can get some relief soon. When he is in pain, he gets shorter of patience and threw his pain meds away because they weren’t helping.
#1 son had a quack damage his esophagus doing an EGD – PCP is furious. They’ll be talking to a lawyer friend of ours soon.

Life is rough sometimes. It’ll get better.

On the upside, the green beans, yellow squash, and corn are coming in. Harvested two 9″ cowhorn peppers today and three jalapenos > 2″ long. Butternut squash and tomatoes coming on soon. Watermelon and pumpkins promising good things, too.

Y’all have a great weekend.

ninja

Prayers for both your Sons, Graybeard….They are so blessed to have a wonderful Father.

Yep, Life can be rough sometimes. Your Son’s situation reminds me of a song written by Andre Crouch “Though It All”. I always remember these lyrics from the song:

“I thank God for the mountains,
and I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms He brought me through.
For if I’d never had a problem,
I wouldn’t know God could solve them,
I’d never know what faith in God could do.”

Thank You for always staying positive, looking at a glass half full. Glad to hear the garden is doing well.

Hope your Brother is doing Ok these days.

Graybeard

I remember that Andre Crouch song!
Got to see him in concert once at a state-wide Baptist Student Union convention back in the mid-70s. His sister was a wizard on a tamborine – it became much more than a rhythm instrument in her hands!

My brother is doing as well as can be expected these days – thanks for asking. He can actually receive visitors besides me (2 at a time!). And he is eating some now, too.
Plan is to bake some biscuits like our mother did and take them and some figs like our grandmother made to give him to nibble. (Carefully & under supervision – but by golly he gets to eat one!)

😆😅😂😆😅🤣😂👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👌👌👌 BTW, he IS an American Indian…found his High School picture… It is so easy to write these type of “Look At Me!” books with self publishing companies. Here are two examples. The first book is one I received from the publisher FREE after the news went around that the guy in the book was NOT a Vietnam POW as he claimed. The guy, Joseph Johnston, New Jersey, born 1924, is still living. The author fell for Joe’s Walter Mitty stories, but quickly changed the book from being “nonfiction” to “fiction” after he discovered Joe told all the lies depicted in the book. Check out the lies: “For Which It Stands” https://www.amazon.com/Which-Stands-George-S-Bockius/dp/1595267921 “Most people adapt their lives to natural cycles. Joe adapted his to a need for support, service, and defense. A soldier in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, he earned seven Purple Hearts for wounds received, among many other medals and honors. Filled with sensational beginnings and extreme changes, Joe’s true story begins with D-Day, WW II, and goes on to dramatic experiences– serving with the 101st Airborne during World War II, liberating Nazi concentration camps, being a Nuremberg witness, serving a call to duty in Korea, standing guard in Dallas when President Kennedy was shot, and serving in Vietnam, where he was a prisoner of war and suffered extreme torture. Trimmed with historical facts and pictures, the stories of Joe’s life are tales of survival, and of what one man can do.” The second book is by a Jonathan Christopherson from Arkansas, who unexpectly died last year right after his son unexpectly passed away. That wasn’t his real name at birth nor the one he had when he enlisted in the Army during Vietnam. He wrote and self published a book where he claimed he was captured by the Viet Cong, but managed to escape. In reality, he was a problem Soldier while in Vietnam and spent time in the Stockade there (does this all sound familiar?). Based on what he wrote on his Facebook before he died, it sound as if someone turned him… Read more »

These kind of people just burn my biscuits. Checking on folks that claimed to be war heroes is what brought me here years ago. Sadly some of these people keep popping back up with their claims and have their families, and others, convinced of their derring do, PTSofD and poor poor poor me. There’s in that is very similar to the post you have below with the GFM. Dude has told so many lies thru-out the years that he doesn’t remember what lie he is living now. Years of drug and alcohol abuse brought on heart problems that he blames on his Viet of the Nam Times Service. And no he wasn’t there, neither as a door gunner, M-60 operator, 82nd AB with 300 combat jumps, Ranger Green Bay Rhett, the sniper that taught White Feather how to shoot, or a POW. Scammed a lot of free stuff, including pacemakers, medical care, new roof, trips, vehicles, ect. His records used to be classified before they were lost in the “fire”. He did serve in the local NG for a little while ’72-75(?). I feel sorry for his wife and kids when they finally believe the VA when they wouldn’t believe the people that knew the truth.

The research and linkys you bring us are muchly appreciated. BTW gabn/rtr/hbtd!

Green Thumb

I wonder if this dude served with Nathan Phillips?

rgr769

Undoubtedly they served together in those Vietnam Times.

Hatchet

Me wonders if he actually has any Lakota/Sioux lineage? Claims to be elected or hereditary ‘chief’ at seventeen?!
That unto itself would be memorable and very easily researched. Going to be REALLY interesting to see if Pine Ridge and/or Rosebud Tribal records actually bear any of Hendren’s ‘claims’ out.

Sapper3307

Think he fly’s a plane also?

KoB

No plane that I’ve heard of Sapper, but according to his Book of Fake, he did leave his Door Gunner spot when the Co-Pilot’s brains of the Huey splattered all over him. Upon noticing the Pilot had a sucking chest wound he grabbed the plastic off a pack of C Rats Smokes and taped the hole up. He then flew, dead stick/reckoning, the chopper full of wounded back to a Firebase. Knew how to fly the bird by watching flight operations from his gunner’s perch. And, naturally, the pilot died in his arms, thanking him for getting the bird back home.

Bitch was an only son that turned 18 in Sep of 71, reported for NG Basic/AIT at FT Lost-in-the-Woods late Nov and reported in to Hometown NG Unit in Feb ’72 as a motor grader operator. Calls hisself a Combat Engineer now and again.

Hatchet

Going through Chief Shot with Arrow’s claims is just a repetitious list of Record lost, records lost, Records lost and not in file etc. To paraphrase Don Shipley – ‘No records, no detailed DD-214’s – no factual claim’. And owing to Shot with Arrow/Hendren’s claimed Lakota/Sioux heritage, I’ve given my cousin a call and started inquiries with Pine Ridge and Rosebud Tribal councils to find out if Richard A. Hendren actually exists anywhere on anyone’s tribal records. Very much like the Spec-war community – the First Nations community is a clannish and tight-knit one and people love to talk, especially if it involves anyone lying about their family bloodline or a lack of it…

Hack Stone

A lot of lost records there. Hack knows exactly how he feels. After Hack left 3rd Amtracks at Camp Pendleton, he ended up at 1st Tracks on Camp Schwab. A WestPac cruise from Pendleton stopped on the island, and Hack met up with his old buddy Chuck from 3rd Tracks. Chuck borrowed Hack’s U2 War and first B-52’s cassette tapes, and he never saw them again. Hack has been waiting 37 years to get them back.

This must be the 3rd or 4th GOFUNDME story where a Widow or a Widow’s friend tries to collect money via GOFUNDME using the story that their deceased husband was a Vietnam POW.

Here we go again. There is also a picture of the Marine Corps “Vietnam POW” on the GOFUND ME site (Donald Dwojewski).

Donald Dwojewski is NOT on the Official DoD List of Accounted For, Marine Corps.

https://www.dpaa.mil/portals/85/VietnamAccounting/pmsea_acc_MARINE%20CORPS_20210611.pdf

In other words, Donald Dwojewski was NEVER a Vietnam POW…looks as if he led his widow, Stefania, to believe that story as well as the GOFUNDME raiser, Gail Bateman Bliss:

Here is the GOFUNDME Site.

You Be The Judge.

https://www.gofundme.com/f/water-for-amputee-pow-widow-stefania

“Water for amputee, POW widow, Stefania”

“She spent months in an induced coma, struggling for her life, then another year in a rehab facility far away from home, only to finally return home to where her husband, Donald, a decorated Vietnam Veteran, a PRISONER OF WAR, was battling terminal cancer.”

ninja

Well, this is interesting.

Remember LTC Andrew “Dru” If You Are A White Male You Are Part Of The Problem” Rhodes?

Check out this writer’s opinion. A bit different from other assessments.

What Do You Think?

“ARMY LTC TO TROOPS, “IF YOU ARE A WHITE MALE YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM”

https://sofrep.com/news/army-ltc-to-troops-if-you-are-a-white-male-youre-part-of-the-problem/

“There is a possibility that LTC Rhodes may lose his command over these remarks. This seems unfair to me. The dogmas of Critical Race Theory include a Marxism-based idea that your gender, race, or sexual orientation makes you either the oppressed or the oppressor. Further, that your status can never change until all existing societal structures, deemed as irretrievably and inherently racist, are overthrown and replaced. Those societal structures would include free-market capitalism, organized religion, and the Constitution of the United States.”

“If the Army is going to teach this system of belief to the troops, it’s unfair to then punish them for adopting these teachings and saying so in public as LTC Rhodes appears to have done.”

Daisy Cutter

It’s a language shell game, apparently.

We all know what’s happening but it shouldn’t be expressed in so clear of a statement. It needed to be sugar-coated or he should have avoided such a frank articulation.

It is similar in my view to when a VIP is coming to your command and we are encouraged to freely ask questions. Then, they want the questions pre-screened and submitted beforehand. This pre-submission is hidden from view but if you suggest that the command doesn’t trust us or giggle when they say you are free to ask any question you want, you will be looked down upon or removed from the room. Free speech doesn’t exist in the military and probably for good reason.
