Risk averse liberals might keep wearing masks despite new CDC guidelines for the fully vaccinated

| May 19, 2021

Tomorrow will mark one month of being fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. So far, so good… Gladly walked into establishments that allowed the fully vaccinated to enter without masks. Yesterday’s itinerary included a bookstore with café, the PX, and the commissary, all without a mask.

Granted, those in some of the other states, red states, went mask-less before the CDC’s new guidelines. But, being in a blue state with a Democrat governor and legislative branch, this was something that wasn’t expected until later. Going without the mask indoors felt like freedom.

From the Washington Examiner:

“Lurking among the jubilant Americans venturing back out to bars and planning their summer-wedding travel is a different group: liberals who aren’t quite ready to let go of pandemic restrictions,” Emma Green wrote in an Atlantic story headlined “The Liberals Who Can’t Quit the Lockdown.”

It’s a position common among liberal influencers in the media. “I feel like I’m going to have to rewire myself so that when I see someone out in the world who’s not wearing a mask, I don’t instantly think, ‘You’re a threat,'” MSNBC host Rachel Maddow told her audience. “Or you are selfish, or you are a COVID denier, and you definitely haven’t been vaccinated.”

Liberal pundit Keith Olbermann tweeted at a libertarian journalist who criticized “performative” mask-wearing in public, writing: “You do realize, Mr. Dips—, that we still haven’t confirmed that the vaccinated can’t carry the disease asymptomatically. We are doing the ‘performative act’ to save your worthless ass.” Olbermann alleged via hashtag that the journalist was a “fascist.”

If flying the American flag is a good indication of someone that is a conservative, then the wearing of the mask when one does not have to may indicate a liberal. You could read more on the Washington Examiner.

I would prefer liberals wear masks forever.

STSC(SW/SS)

I would prefer liberals just go away.

Their “seen and not heard” performance could be greatly improved:

Fyrfighter

Can we have them substitute plastic bags for masks? PLEASE???

MI Ranger

The kind that have a securing band around the neck that give whole head coverage!

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Pretty safe bet those wearing them after the mandates end will be virtue signaling wienies…

5JC

More like paranoid schizophrenics and immune-compromised people. Mask usage has dropped about 95% around here.

Waiting on the next China bug.

MI Ranger

Saw the article about “the President” and his overtures to the Chinese sympathizing WHO, where he gives away all of America’s IP for vaccines (not just giving all of them free vaccines)…just about guaranteeing this will never happen again!

And I don’t mean a world pandemic coming out of China! I mean creating a vaccine to end it in less than a year!!!

The Other Whitey

It’s the new swastika armband.

Sparks

You got that right TOW! Went to Costco without a mask because we’ve been vaccinated and the CDC announcement. Those with masks looked at us like we were open carrying an AR, with a sign saying “I’m here to make you sick”.

Turds.

DocV

Go ahead and wear them. It makes you easier to spot in a crowd.

Here in the formerly decent state of Connecticrap, yesterday the lady and I visited the local package store. For a Tuesday afternoon it was pretty busy.
We had our faces bare…

We were treated like zombies.

But not a word was said, the looks were enough. Best part is the illegal, nonsensical “‘mandates'” loosen today. What is a day mean in terms of transmissibility?

Idiots all.

And Keith Uberdouche need a tall glass of stfu.

I was working from home from November-March due to “RONA”. I slowly devolved into a ‘Person of Walmart. It got to the point that I would venture out to the grocery store during lunch to pick up odds/ends for the wife wearing my standard ‘work apparel’ of slippers, pajama pants, and hoodie along with about 2 weeks worth of facial growth. Some chubby buggy riding hag proceeded to chastise me for not wearing a mask.

“It’s not about YOU. Its about OTHER PEOPLE. Don’t you care about OTHER PEOPLE??”

“Lady, look at me. Im in my pajamas at 1 oclock. I barely even care about myself.”

Roh-Dog

You just wrote my life…
I haven’t shaved since fall ‘19 so masks seal for shit. I had some Karen Bitch at me for a mask and I pointed to the beard and said “Lady, it won’t seal with this thing. It’d be pointless”.
She replied in some high-pitched staccato but I caught “feelings” and “thinking of others” and “why don’t you shave it off then”
Maybe it was the whiskey, maybe it’s the natural contempt I have for her kind but I turned to her and said “You wouldn’t tell an Imam that, would you?”

I didn’t wait for a response or her contorted face…because cool guys don’t look at explosions

That’s normal life around here. Masks didn’t change much.

Very similar to wearing a star on your coat/jacket back in Nazi Germany so now we can tell who the libs are. My liberal neighbor up on the 4th floor got his 2 shots but still wears the mask and gloves even to go 20 feet to throw the garbage down the chute, voted for the new Supreme Ruler, (biden) has more firearms that I ever had and tells me that the 2A is in the Constitution and they can’t take the guns from us. Stays holed up all day and only goes out at night to shop where there are less peeps in the stores.

Nope! I dissent.

I break the liberal’s paradigm: I am a gun owning Conservative, Republican, Latin-Mass type of Catholic, and have a post-graduate degree; YET … I will continue to wear my mask until I feel it is safe not to wear it … not because the weenies at the CDC changed their minds …. again (and again, and again).

I lived in Korea for 1.5 years and Japan for five years; I saw masks worn all the time: when people had a cold, or didn’t want to catch other people’s cold (d’ya know what it’s like to be on a crammed subway, in winter, with sick people pushed up against you because there’s no room?). Granted, masking is done normally during the winter season, but you still see masks throughout the year. Y’know why? 1918, that’s why. Everybody was masking (and washing hands) for the Spanish Flu, and when it was “over,” everybody quit masking …… except for the Japanese — it became their habit, if you will. They still teach school children to wash their hands with soap and water as soon as they arrive home. I only ever had to wash my hands when you could see the layers of dirt/mud on them. (^__^)

I even wore masks here in these United States of America donkey’s years before CV-19 … just because I didn’t want to pass along my cold/flu — or to catch the flu from the sniffling-sneezing budget lady down the hall (which I caught once because I was not masked).

I was often asked, “Why are you wearing a surgical mask?” — my answer: “To keep you from getting my cold.” I normally did not state the obvious reason: “so you don’t give me your cold.”

Anyway, I’m pretty certain that I will be the lone dissenter here … I’m not willing to get sick. I will keep my mask on when I’m around people whom I do not know.

My nieces college graduation was live streamed as they had very limitted attendance. I watched it after the fact and asked my sister why my niece was in Saudi Arabia. She was confused and i said all the women were wearing black abeyas and masks.

Just like the meme that says When this is all over I still want some of you to stay away from me. I carry a mask around and occasionally wear it. Besides it pisses off libs as they see it as a sign I don’t support the vaccine. last Friday was 14 days after vaccine #2 for me.

KoB

We are one year and 6 weeks(?) into the 15 days to “flatten the curve” towards herd immunity.

K Roger just had a blurb on their Weekly Specials ad, that starting tomorrow, people who are vaccinated will not be required to wear a mask inside their stores. When will the greeters at the doors of stores start asking to “see your papers, Citizen” instead of Welcome to ______, would you like a buggy? (yeah I know, y’all that are North of the Border of God’s Country say “Shopping Cart”)

Commissar

It is not about merely being “risk adverse”… First, CDC guidelines are just that…guidelines… state and local ordnances are still in place in most jurisdictions. Until your local jurisdiction changes their local policies masks may still be required. And local guidance is based on current local infection rates and available medical capacity… Secondarily, wearing a masks other citizens at ease. They don’t know if you are vaccinated or not when you are walking around without a mask. Most children are still not vaccinated and many people cannot get vaccinated. Additionally, the vaccines are effective but not 100% effective. It will not necessarily stop you from contracting the virus. It will however almost certainly reduce the severity of the disease. You could be a carrier and not know it during an infection. Finally, wearing a mask is not a fucking big deal and all this pearl clutching and whining the right has been doing about is absolutely pathetic. Programmed drama by your propaganda. You freedom is not being fucking infringed by being required to wear a god damn mask. I can’t go barefoot in most establishments. I have to wear pants almost everywhere, never been served at a restaurant without a shit on… There are good reasons for hygiene and safety we expect people to wear fucking pants at Costco. Yet you all are not screaming like hysterical Karens at being required to do that. All they have to do is tell you to be outraged and you all dutifully obey. Then blame libs for it all. The left is upset about the government committing extrajudicial executions on the street with insufficient investigation, oversight, or consequences, or even sufficient training on when it is actually necessary. And you think the logs are being unreasonable. Meanwhile you whine incessantly about yer freedumbs being violated by wearing a mask during a pandemic while simultaneously attempting to overthrow an election and install a despot in the name of those same freedumbs. The right has absolutely lost their damn minds. I wear a mask even though I am vaccinated because it makes other people more… Read more »

Neanderthal

Buy Large Mansions dumbass ^^^.

6% died from the Wu Flu solely over the last 15 months.

Being a fat dumbass, like you are, makes me uncomfortable because you stink of BO and look like I am have to give you CPR when you stroke out in front of me for wearing your mask and trying to bend over and tie your shoes. But like all other self centered useful idiots you only squawk what Mika and her girlfriend tell you.
If it was really about saving all these lives, shouldn’t we outlaw junk food so you don’t get any heftier and stay alive longer?
Don’t answer, wait til the morning til Mika and her girlfriend tell you what to be enraged about.

Only Army Mom

Neanderthal –
one point in particular on which you are mistaken.

The Pigeon doesn’t bend over to tie shoes. They’re slip ons, because shoes that tie are a mark of White Privilege and Oppression and therefore is a skill not taught at Bezerkly.

Not to mention they don’t let people have things they could hang themselves with for their own safety where he lives.

“Secondarily, wearing a masks other citizens at ease. They don’t know if you are vaccinated or not when you are walking around without a mask. Most children are still not vaccinated and many people cannot get vaccinated.”
My issue with this statement is if this gene therapy was really a vaccine why should your personal health be an issue? If it worked and you were vaccinated then my status should be even less of your concern.
If the “vaccine” doesn’t confer immunity, what is the purpose, and why did you take it?

DocV

Hmmm. Welp, I really don’t give a rat’s ass if other people are comfortable around me. If they’re not, they can keep their distance. Everybody wins.

Tallywhagger

Wouldn’t it be more comfortable to wear a magical little braided bracelet, maybe an armband or perhaps a logo on a polo style shirt featuring something of identifiable virtue?

There used to be Mood Rings. Something like that would be ideal as it could work for John Kerry, the CDC, FauxChi or any other will’o’the wisp reckoning of the moment.

Found a picture of the Seagull out in public….bald head and all.

If you wear a mask and a PT belt, you would be immune to every known disease and bulletproof.
