Ex-Pike County sheriff Charles Reader to serve three years in prison for theft in office
First up is a stupid cop. A stupid sheriff himself actually. You see, taking money from evidence were merely loans to wash the squad cars. Everyone does that, right?
Former Pike County [Ohio] Sheriff Charles Reader — who stood tall and proud while in the glare of an international spotlight five years ago after a family of eight was murdered in his county — stood slumped over before a judge and sobbed as he begged for mercy.
Appointed visiting Judge Patricia Cosgrove, after a soliloquy about how much Reader had failed his profession, community and family, sentenced him to six years in prison on felony charges and six months in the county jail on a misdemeanor. As some of the sentences will run concurrently, Reader will serve a total of three years.
Reader had pleaded guilty to stealing money seized from arrests and then covering it up.
Cosgrove, who retired from the Summit County Court of Common Pleas in Akron, capped a remarkable and swift fall from grace for Reader, who wore the highest-ranking badge in county law enforcement.
Reader, sobbing and leaning on the podium, said he wanted to see his son graduate from high school, attend his daughter’s wedding, and be the husband he has never been to his wife, Ramona. And he apologized for shaming the badge, hurting his family and abusing the trust of his community.
“Your honor, please don’t send me to prison,” he said through sniffles and tears, his face haggard and fire red. “I have wronged but I am not ruined. I still have a lot of good left in me.
Cosgrove was unswayed.
When she asked him why he took the money, he said it wasn’t for gambling, as prosecutors contend. Reader said he took the money from drug dealers (he pleaded guilty to taking money from evidence seized in arrests) and used it for charity — to plant memorial trees, to pay for his cruisers to be washed at school car washes and the like.
Reader, 47, said he always replaced the cash in due time.
“There are no words for the regret I have,” he said through sobs.
It had nothing to do with his crippling gambling addiction.

Tesla Driver On Autopilot With Suspended License Slams Into Michigan State Trooper
Drivers crashing while carelessly using Tesla’s Autopilot driver assistance system aren’t anything new. However, one Tesla driver in Michigan is here to add a couple of twists. Not only did he crash his Tesla into a Michigan State Police Trooper while on Autopilot early Wednesday morning, but he did it while driving on a suspended license, the Detroit News reports.
Michigan, look, we need to talk. It seems like a lot of your drivers have suspended licenses but are still on the road for some reason. Last week, one suspended driver decided to appear in virtual court from the driver seat. And now this? It’s not often that you see this many bad moves snowballed into a hilariously stupid scenario.
The crash was described in this cut-and-dry tweet from Michigan State Police First District:
On 3/17 at 1:12 am, troopers from the Lansing Post investigating a car vs deer traffic crash on I-96 near Waverly Rd in Eaton County. While investigating that crash with their emergency lights on, a Tesla on autopilot strikes the patrol car.
The crash took a solid chunk out of the Tesla.
Thankfully, neither the officers in the squad car nor the Tesla driver were injured. The driver of the Tesla, a 22-year-old man from Lansing, was issued citations for failing to move over and for driving on a suspended license. This driver wasn’t supposed to be driving in the first place, let alone allowing Autopilot to badly steer for him.

Police: Man stole 400-pound slide from playground, mounted it on bunkbed
On the one hand, he’s like the greatest dad of all time. On the other, he’s the worst. Kinda like finding out you’ve been invited to the White House, but then are told it’s the Biden White House and you have to bring your wife and daughters.
A man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a 400-pound slide from a playground and mounted it on a bunkbed in his home.
Dustin Allen Bushnell, 30, of Burbank, Washington, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of stolen property, according to the Pasco Police Department.
Detective Julie Lee was investigating a series of catalytic converter thefts when evidence led her to Bushnell’s home, police said.
Lee suddenly came face-to-face with the gigantic slide, which was reported stolen in December 2020, as she searched the home for catalytic converters.
Bushnell sawed off the slide, repainted it, and mounted it on a bunkbed in a child’s bedroom at his mobile home, according to investigators.
Catalytic converters were also found at the home but Bushnell has not yet been charged with stealing the car parts.
An investigation remains ongoing.

TikTok video shows ‘Karen’ allegedly calling cops on Taco Bell workers over Nacho Fries
Next time she should try Batman. This clearly calls for vigilantism.
A video currently going viral on TikTok purports to show an angry woman calling the police on Taco Bell employees after being told that she could not order Nacho Fries.
Posted on Monday by user @pjmossell, the video shows the woman, referred to as a Karen, arguing with the store’s employees while on the phone.
A caption on the video states that the woman called the police after she was informed that Nacho Fries were no longer available.
Although the short clip doesn’t offer much insight into how the incident unfolded, the unidentified woman can be heard referring to the employees as “teenyboppers,” a derogatory term that usually refers to young teenage girls.
The employee filming the encounter can be heard laughing as a female employee off-camera attempts to reason with the woman’s young daughter.
“How old are you?” the female employee asks. “Does she talk to you like that?”
The young girl, who appears motionless and potentially embarrassed by the fiasco, does not respond. Her mother, however, lashes out at the employee for speaking to her daughter.
“Don’t address my daughter,” the woman repeatedly says.
The video, which has received more than 100,000 likes, has since been flooded with comments condemning the woman and expressing sympathy for her young daughter.
“You can see the emotional damage in that little girl’s face,” @iknowyouarebutwhatameye says. “You can tell it’s not the first time she’s witnessed something like this from her mom.”
But others suggested that the employees acted inappropriately as well by failing to deescalate the situation.
“Poor management,” @reyrey431 argued. “Let her do what she’s gonna do and serve the guests that deserve service. Be bigger than she.”
The Daily Dot reached out to the TikTok user who uploaded the video to inquire further but did not receive a reply by press time.
The footage is yet another example of a Karen acting out in public, an event that has seemingly increased alongside the coronavirus pandemic.

Category: "Teh Stoopid", Crime, Police, WTF?
“I have sinned!” “I took a gamble and lost…again!” “I hit my Peak in Pike!” “I want to be a husband at home, not a bride in prison!” Did they Read him his rights? He’ll be crying into his pillow soon. At least the squad cars were clean, even if he wasn’t, sooo, there is that.
“But Officer, I wasn’t actually driving, the car was. You can’t charge me with an accident.”
Not sure what the catalyst was for converting the bunk bed from a ladder dismount to a slide. Not enough playground time as a child? Musta been Trump’s fault, hell everything else is.
“These are not yo fries Karen! And NO soup for you either! This is NOT Burger King, you CAN’T have it your way, you can only have it our way, or you can hit the highway.” Film at 11.
Stupid may be unfixable, but it shorely is entertaining. Heh heh
Karen is a race-based pejorative, right? Only used against whites, hmm? How is that different from any of a list of racist terms for other races?
About that Nacho Fries story… It says the woman was “referring to the employees as “teenyboppers,” a derogatory term…”
Wow, teenyboppers is derogatory? Last I heard, History has turned a page, the mini-skirt is all the rage and Teenybopper is our new-born king, uh huh. And the beat goes on.
I haven’t heard or seen in print the word teenybopper in decades.
and even when it was in vogue, it was so mild as to be unnoticed. On a scale of 1-10 with the ‘n-word’ at 10, it would come in at about .025, with any offense taken at the presumed teen age of the recipient.
We have a lot of suspended drivers in Michigan even though DWLS(Driving With License Suspended) is an arrestable offense, judges going woke now usually just dismiss those charges. Seems that a portion of the population who drive 55 in a 25 zone, driving impaired, use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony, leaving the scene of a property damage or personal injury accident and assorted other driving offenses bitch to mommy and daddy or the Urban League or other advocacy groups. Then certain politicos start pressuring everyone else in the legislature to pressure the judges to ignore driving suspended offenses. So, those drivers are often just given a summons, and go on their way.
So, can we have the courts start just sendin’ these tickets straight to Elon Musk?
