Louisiana shooting spree leaves 3 dead; armed citizens credited with saving lives
The crime happened near a gun store and range just outside New Orleans
By Michael Ruiz, Brie Stimson
Armed citizens were credited with limiting fatalities in a shooting in Louisiana on Saturday that left three people dead, including the suspect, according to authorities. The outburst, at a gun store and range just down the road from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, also left two people wounded, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“Arriving deputies located several victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” the sheriff said in a statement. “Three individuals were pronounced dead on the scene, and two more were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The two transported victims are in stable condition.”
It happened near a gun shop and shooting range on Airline Drive in Metairie, La., just west of New Orleans, and the armed people at the scene helped subdue the gunman, according to authorities.
“At this time, it appears a suspect shot two victims inside the location, then was engaged and shot outside the location by multiple other individuals,” the sheriff’s statement continued. “The suspect is one of the deceased on scene.”

Gun Control? It’s the best thing you can do for crooks and gangsters. I want you to have nothing. If I’m a bad guy, I’m always gonna have a gun. Safety locks? You pull the trigger with a lock on and I’ll pull the trigger [without a safety lock]. We’ll see who wins.

Good riddance to the dirtbag that thought the rules didn’t apply to him. BZ to the ones that took out the trash.
Sympathies to the families of the ones that lost their lives, just doing their job.
Understand that them there Rugers are pretty damn fine shooting irons. Good linky on their stuff.
Word that!
Saw an unrelated story in which researchers are saying young ‘men of color’ are disproportionately affected by ‘gun violence’. The researcher conveniently omitted mention of the hue of those committing said violence, and how many of these interactions involved legal use of said firearms.
Also saw where a researcher says increasing highway speeds from the double nickel has caused highway deaths to rise… he blamed about 12,500 or so deaths on increased speed… since 1995. Believe that works out to about 10 people per state per year. Not 100% sure on the math but about 500 deaths per year out of 35,000 annually is a 1/70th increase? For the privilege of decent speeds (in may area some 2 lanes are 70mph) I’ll take my chances with that 1/70th! (He, of course, was advocating for a return to 55 cuz it is safer and greener. I am betting he has never driven across the Great Salt Lake, eastern Colorado, or the Permian Basin at 55.)
I’d guess that “researcher” has never driven across any of those at any speed.
He’s also full of it. US Highway deaths have dropped significantly since 1995 – from 42,817 in 1995 to 36,120 in 2019. That’s a decrease of a bit more than 15.6%.
This is in spite of the fact that the number of vehicle-miles traveled increased dramatically over the same time frame: from 2,423 trillion vehicle-miles traveled in 1996 to a bit under 3.252 vehicle-miles traveled in 2019. That’s an increase of well over 34% – or more than a third.
The fatality rate per vehicle-mile traveled has in fact dropped dramatically since 1995. In 1995, it was 1.73 fatalities per 100M vehicle-miles traveled. In 2019, it was 1.10 fatalities per 100M vehicle-miles traveled. Had that fatality rate remained at 1995 levels, we’d have seen almost 57,500 die on US highways in 2019.
In short, the “researcher” is either (1) a clueless fool who is full of crap, or (2) is intentionally distorting reality by presenting a misleading scenario in order to push a political agenda. My money’s on (2).

Saw the article yesterday on FB. There is video of course which help in the investigation. It will also come in handy because the dirt bag’s mother (or at least some woman making the claim) is saying the news got it wrong that her son was gunned down without warning by the staff in the store and the same staff is also responsible for all the deaths and wounds. She further said it was her son trying to defend himself and further evidence of more racism.
That boy didn’t du nuffin. She commented that since he didn’t enter the store shooting, the store staff just shot him down, murdered him.
Interesting that the national media doesn’t show the video or the screen shots of him in the store looking for more victims before he last exited the store. He was also shown with the weapon in his hand with about a 20 round extended magazine. Query: Who walks into a gun store with a loaded pistol with a 20 (or more) round loaded magazine in his hand?
According to the investigation so far, the shooter entered the store with the loaded weapon in his hand. He was told by the sales clerk he must take the weapon out of the store, unload it and put in in a box or a holster if he wanted to bring it back in. Williams walked toward the door like he was complying. At the entrance he fired a round into the ceiling, then turned, re-entered and started shooting at the people in the store. The first person he hit and killed was an unarmed woman who had come to the store to pick up a firearm she purchased. He left the store, but came back in and shot his second victim in the back, who was crouched behind the counter. He then went down the hall toward the range, looking for more victims. He finally left the store, and a shootout in the parking lot with several instructors put an end to his rampage. There were about a hundred rounds fired in the parking lot alone. Looks like some people had more than one mag.
