Sometimes when the opposition party held the Senate in strength they would send a more centrist appearing judge. But that was just to get them through.

What if they just imposed some rule that the court can only be 5-4 as far as Liberal-Conservative or vice versa? Or that every other time the judge appointed must be alternated?
May avoid the bickering except it may erupt over someone labeled as one or the other really a candy coated label.
That is an absurd idea, and unworkable as a rule for an appellate court. What Progs fail to understand is that judges are not supposed to make policy determinations. They are supposed to apply established law to the facts of specific cases.
