US patrol in Syria takes fire

| August 17, 2020

Military.com (and other sources) report that a routine patrol in eastern Syria came under fire about 0920 local time yesterday from ISIS fighters. The US and mostly-Kurdish Syrian Defense Forces returned fire and suffered no casualties.

The troops came under fire after being granted permission to cross a pro-Syrian checkpoint along their route. The small arms fire came from the area of the checkpoint. Sounds like Daesh are attacking their backs like cowards.

There are still about 500 Americans in Syria rooting out the last vestiges of ISIS.

Sounds like Daesh are attacking their backs…. article.

Well, what do you expect from people who don’t want their own society to advance beyond the Stone Age?

Oddly enough, when I was in the US Army I was also taught to attack the rear and flanks of the enemy. And, if possible, while the enemy was asleep or otherwise distracted. I was also taught to kill the enemy from a safe distance with artillery, etc. instead of facing him in a man-to-man fair fight.
