Tucker Carlson: Why mobs are tearing down America’s monuments

Tucker’s opinion monologue on the issue. I’m a Tucker fan, which may surprise two or three of y’all. Here he bells the cat, and provides the only viable recommendation to fix the problem.


On Monday, a mob attempted to knock down a statue of Andrew Jackson. They spray-painted the base, trying to knock the statue down. In large letters, you can see it says “killer” at the bottom. Amazing.

This is happening all over the country as you know and there’s a reason for it. Over the weekend, most recently — doubtless, you’ve heard of this — city officials announced their plan to remove the statue of Teddy Roosevelt from outside New York’s Museum of Natural History. The bronze statue has stood there in the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda facing Central Park since before the Second World War. Soon it will be gone.

People who erected that statue 80 years ago would be confused by this, no doubt. They did not consider Teddy Roosevelt a controversial figure. In fact, Roosevelt was the most popular president in American history. He was also the most American president. No other country could have produced Teddy Roosevelt.

Roosevelt’s virtues mirrored the values of America. He was physically brave. He was profoundly literate, highly self-disciplined and amazingly energetic. While still a college student, Roosevelt wrote a two-volume history of the War of 1812 that is still in print today. You can buy it on Amazon.

He was the youngest president in our history. He saved our economy from corporate monopolies. And by doing that, he made the American middle class possible. He created the national parks. He created the Panama Canal, the Food and Drug Administration, and then he kept going.

The list of Teddy Roosevelt’s achievements fills entire shelves of biographies. Those are in addition to the more than 40 books he wrote himself on topics ranging from Oliver Cromwell to cattle ranching to social justice.

Personally, Roosevelt was a famously decent man. In 1901, he invited his friend Booker T. Washington to dinner. No African-American had ever eaten in the White House. Democrats roared with rage at the idea. For the crime of having a meal with a black man, they attacked Teddy Roosevelt and his wife for the rest of their lives. But Roosevelt never bowed. He gave the finger to the mob, and he continued cheerfully on.

Teddy Roosevelt was a hero to millions of Americans. He still is. That’s precisely why they are tearing down his statue. They know that if they can force you to watch as they topple your heroes, they have won. There’s nothing they can’t do next.

They can decide how you raise your children, how you vote, what you’re allowed to believe. Once they’ve humiliated you, they can control you and that’s why across the country, mobs are tearing down America’s monuments.

    I think it’s much simpler: Never underestimate the stupidity of an angry man.

    I guarantee you that most of the people rioting aren’t thinking about how if they can just topple another statue, they can tell you how to raise your kids.

      And your fist sentence explains why the Left spends so much effort making folks angry, flogging grievances, stoking divisions, and in general raging.

      Because fundamentally their position is irrational, they need raging mobs to achieve goals.

      As folks obtain information and reason themselves away from leftist notions, the remainder have to double down on anger.

      This will only get worse as the Left faces real loss and a real shift away from leftist.

      Fear drives anger, and the current ragefest over the fear of losing in 2020 is a harbinger of worse to come.

      Ask Robespierre how that worked out.

    When the pushback begins it will quickly escalate.

      And hostile foreign powers are backing the rage-mobs of the left.


      There needs to be an accounting for that foreign service.

        Testify Gentlemen AMEN to all of the above. And a big shout out and hearty Thank You to Mr. Carlson for putting on a National Platform what I have said for years. This is not just about All Things Confederate, this is a deliberate attack by foreign and domestic enemies of our Country to divide and conquer. Just like a spoiled brat, the more these thugs are allowed to get away with, the more they will try to get away with.

        Still haven’t wrapped my head around the why they want to destroy the Nation that, in the grand scheme of things, as done more to advance the cause of freedom, equality, and the advancement of the quality of life for the world than any other. This destruction of public property should have been nipped from the very beginning and not allowed to progress to this point.

        The barbarians are at the gate. Lock and load.

        You are correct about that. The significant difference is that when the bodies start to hit the floor on their side, shit will become REAL very quickly, and it will not be what they wanted. A good many of them have never known the results of actions having consequences. I know not how others on my side will react then, but I will not stop shooting, and if they ask for quarter, they will get none. And a good many on our side have that level of combat experience, and dedication, that they lack. It will be short, and it will be ugly for them.

    I may or may not already be locked and loaded, I won’t say in public. I look at history and notice how the left is doing exactly what the Nazis did when they were taking over Germany, the communists when they took over Russia, china and elsewhere, and just like what the Taliban did in A-stan as well as ISIS wherever they’ve infested. THEY ARE a malignancy on our culture and society and need to be dealt with!

    Just watched Tucker from last night and Mark Steyn suggests that when they take down the mounted statue of TR in New York that they leave the horse’s ass in place as a symbol of our “conservative” political elites who have conserved almost nothing during their time in office.

    As I look deeper into all of this, I see a network of ideas eminating from the “Critical Theory” worldview as propounded by Robin DiAngelo et al.

    It is a non-falsifiable worldview, or if you will religion, that seeks to dismantle Western Civilization in its entirety and replace it with some undefined something – which usually turns out to be a socialist dictatorship with the proponents in charge.

    One of the problems is that they redefine, a la George Orwell’s 1984, terms so that words and phrases such as “racist” and “white supremacy” do not mean what they are commonly understood as meaning.

    And making their faith/worldview unfalsifiable means that there can be no rational dialogue between those who hold that theory and anyone else. By default, if you disagree with them you are blinded and ignorant, and your disagreement proves (to them) that you are among the unenlightened.

    Yeah, fuck the guy who said that…I mean how could anyone white or black find value in those words? The challenge to be the one doing the deeds instead of the asshole simply criticizing from the comfort of the sidelines. Let’s not forget to remove JFK as well since he voted against the civil rights bill as a senator.

    That said, I have no true quarrel moving statues if today people think they should be placed somewhere with context more appropriate to the individual the statue personifies. As a libertarian (small l) I always thought statues, like so many government projects, are just another fucking waste of taxpayer monies better suited to other projects to actually benefit society at large.

      B – How about if we just move them to some place for safekeeping until this crap is over with, and the spoiled rotten brats with a chip on all four shoulders have gone elsewhere to find trouble?

      I for one will not object if every statue erected in honor of the Dead Kennedys is toppled.

      And I’d rather have a second stimulus check in hand than spending any federal money on new statuary.

    Is there a grand conspiracy? I don’t know. There may be. What I see, and am very tired of, is a bunch of angry idiots in a rage because FEELINGS!!! Wanting to tear down anything that injures their delicate sensibilities.     Natural consequences of being invaded and occupied. How ridiculous it is to expect that after allowing your territory to be occupied and your people replaced that the new colonizers will keep your monuments and laws. Your conservative leaders sold you out when they promoted mass immigration, and now you are headed to the dustbin of history. This is what happens to the defeated. So cowardly and brainwashed are white conservatives that even today, even after it is clear that mass migration is a disaster for them and their nation, they can’t bring themselves to denounce “diversity” and call for an end to mass immigration.     Most of the fear factor comes from the fact that behind antifa is the U.S. government. Antifa gets away with illegal methods because their goals mirror the goals of the establishment. The culture of this country has been anti-white for decades, and the culture shapes the government. So fighting antifa means fighting the government, and that’s a step the oppressed are not yet willing to undertake.

    The primary goal of antifa and the government is keeping the white middle and lower classes under control while they are exploited and ultimately eliminated. They’re a sort of extra-legal militia in a racist colonialist regime that helps the authorities keep the natives under control in ways that are awkward for the official forces to carry out. Antifa talks a lot about capitalism and capitalists but they never quite get around to going after them, indeed they take millions from them. The antifa program is almost 100% racial.

    This is the system you encourage young men to fight for.
