Coconut IED

This week’s photo is thanks to Daniel Bernath. It’s a picture of a Fort Myers police officer expertly disarming an IED contained in a coconut left on Mr Bernath’s property.

Here’s another photo from Mr Bernath of the vandalism that occurred on his property. I can’t condone this kind of mindless, excessive violence being perpetrated against Mr Bernath.

It’s about time you came to the Dark Side, Jonn!! 🙂

” A Man who lies to himself is often the first to take offense.”

Quote from Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, “The Brothers Keeper”

Author of “Crime and Punishment”, “The Idiot” and “The Possessed”.

How ironic what Dostoevsky used as titles to his works.

So happy to announce Daniel Bernath is still a horse’s ass.

That is all.

This is for Proud Infidel, who has been missing astrological forecasts, but it comes from a financial forecaster, so I don’t take credit for it.

‘One of the maddening planetary aspects is now well underway in 2016: Saturn in waning square to Neptune. This combination is not known for thinking clearly or objectively. It is not known for collecting facts first before acting. It is more known for acting upon fear and panic, of making false assumptions that can later prove to be regretted, once the facts do become known.’ — RMA

Now if this sounds like someone with whom we are almost all familiar, well….

EX…so cool! Contact me I need your advice,.

Coconut IED…coconut IED…coconut IED. Plastic garbage can laid on it’s side…and the lids off.
Anyone know if the poleece checked his bicycle for scrape or the front and rear bumper of his car? Has to be something on either one ya know, like a paint transfer or something. Has to be. Heh. This dude is way the hell out there, flapping. And running on empty er flying.

Hack Stone

Kind of ironic that Daniel Bernath remembers to bring duct tape along when he is flying, but not enough fuel. Maybe he used the duct tape to reassemble his plane after his unscheduled landing 200 yards outside of Sisters Airport.

Eden

I’m hoping this thread is still getting enough attention for me to get a question answered:

Is there ANY circumstance under which a person in the Coast Guard Auxiliary could possibly qualify for the Expert Field Medical Badge?

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Prior service Army.

As far as I can research, it is strictly an Army qualification badge.

Eden

That’s what it looks like to me, but just making sure.

Claw

Eden, perhaps a little info on the current situation may be called for. Is this person currently serving in the Army as a medic either on active duty or as a Reservist? Or did they just show up with an EFMB pinned to their coat?

As such, I find it highly doubtful that a civilian would be allowed to undergo the EFMB test.

Eden

Texas State Guard medic, civilian paramedic. Hasn’t been in long enough to possibly be invited to test for it. I’m suspecting that he is simply mistaken about being qualified to wear it, and would willingly remove it and stop wearing it if he were corrected. Just making sure I have complete info on the requirements before I say anything.

Claw

Eden, when you say Texas State Guard, do you mean the Texas National Guard or that State Guard outfit like Heavy Chevy was in?

If it’s the Texas State Guard, it would be a pretty long stretch for him to be “invited” to EFMB test with the Active Army, except for some type of photo op or PR Dog & Pony Show.

Approach courteously, and request to see the orders (not a certificate) awarding him the EFMB.

Just as a side note, my older brother was a Vietnam Army 91B/91C medic who was awarded both the EFMB and a CMB.

Green Thumb

And I know many Infantrymen who have both the EIB and CIB.

Eden

The Texas State Guard, the one Chevalier was kicked out of (the TXSG is cleaning house–we just kicked a soldier out of my BN who was posing as a police officer).

Regarding the soldier I mentioned previously, he hasn’t been in the TXSG long enough to have tested as a Guardsman. However, he has been a paramedic for some time and has served as a tactical paramedic for the local police and fire department. I’m trying to find out whether that training/service, along with his Coast Guard Auxiliary status, might conceivably have been enough for him to be invited to test.

If there’s no possibly way he could have tested, I will call him out on it and instruct him to remove the badge.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Google ME MS badge. This appears to be some sort of military medical badge awarded by State Guard units (NOT State National Guard). It is NOT the EFMB or CMB but something similar in their eyes.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Should be MEMS…

Eden

No. I know the MEMS badge, and it doesn’t look anything like an EFMB. I don’t know about other state guards, but in the TXSG, it’s not regarded as anything close to the EFMB or CMB. (It’s actually administered by the State Guard Association of the U.S.) This soldier has been wearing both the MEMS and the EFMB. I’m not the only one who noticed the EFMB, either.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Unless he’s prior service Army and earned it there, I’m guessing he may be faking the funk. Follow Claw’s advice and to see orders or have your version of the S1 shop look into it. An FOIA request could be in order. Not just anyone earns this badge…

Eden

He doesn’t have any federal service time, so I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t show up on an FOIA. If he did somehow earn it as a civilian/CGA, would he still have orders for it? What else can the S1 do?

Hondo

You might want to ask about any ARNG service, too. I believe ARNG medical personnel also can qualify for the EFMB, and it’s possible they could do so while in state vice Federal status.

Eden

For TXSG purposes, ARNG is considered federal service, but I will ask him specifically about that possibility, just to make sure there’s no misunderstanding.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Ah, no! Not as CG Aux.

Eden

I am happy to report that my suspicions were correct, and that the matter is resolved. The soldier in question was told by a field-grade officer that he qualifies for the CMB, and he mistook the EFMB badge for a CMB. He had no reason to question the officer, so took his word for it. Now that the misinformation has been corrected, he readily agreed to not wear it again, saying that he didn’t want to wear anything he hadn’t rightfully earned. The officer’s misunderstanding will be cleared up at the earliest opportunity (he himself does not wear either an EFMB or a CMB).

Thing is, if this soldier ever gets the opportunity to test for the EFMB, I have no doubt that he will pass with flying colors.

Claw

Todays small funny for all my wetter service comrades here on TAH:

So you think Snipes don’t control this ship?

Let me just turn this valve a little bit…..

MM1 Jake Holman

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

The Snipes do control the ships major systems.

However, the Chiefs run the Navy.

Anyone ever purchased a firearm from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)? I’m curious as to your experience with it.

I’m thinking about buying an M-1 Garand. If I read the CMP web site correctly, retired military servicemembers are not required to be a member of a CMP-affiliated club.

Tony180a

I did years ago. I bought an M1 Garand for $195.00 I thought I was going to get something trashed and rattling like a Diamondbacks tail but to my surprise it was totally reconditioned. Not sure about rules for retirees I bought mine through our sniper locker.

I Have A Serious Question Here, Why Are Some 214s I’ve Seen On Here Show Lapel Pens For Army
And BRM Ratings such as Expert / Sharp-Shooter and So On for Prior Army Service?????

Just An Old Dog

I believe its just to show they were issued the item. I got a USMC lapel pin when I retired. I don’t know if it is on my DD214 or not.
As far as having other services Qualification badges noted. I’m sure its just the Admin section being proficient. Just because you can’t wear it in the service you are in doesnt mean it wasnt earned.

Skippy

K. when I Was Retired In 2013 They gave me Three Certificates one from POTUS Two from the joint chief of staff, one for me one to the wife, and a box and a Flag and some other stuff.
strange while I was in Germany. I was given a few coins and two letters of thank you both hand written by some High ups but I was lights out for a few days so I don’t remember any of it
on some of these they talk about letters, I guess I was just happy to move forward..
but I do wonder sometimes Lol…..

Please hear me out… My grand daughter, my heart and I are bonded not just by blood. At two years old they found a tumor in the front of her neck. Only two people allowed, so I hit every church, temple, etc and prayed….alls good. Diagnosed later with PKD, hydrotrify (right side of body not growing at same rate as left) and we hear results of the testing they did last week. Just a tiny YOU CAN DO THIS KID THANKS, REB I started to tell her about her birth and exactly what happened. Emergency C-section and when the doctor pulled her out, he said “she has a tail”. As soon as I cut the cord, you pulled down the doctors mask, squeezed his nose and said honk honk. Surprised, you slipped out of his hands and wrapped your tail around the light. You were swinging all over that room until grammar grabbed a banana from her purse. Your diapers had a hole so your tail could hang out. We brought you home and as someone was leaving the house, you squeezed through, ran to the tree and went up to the telephone pole. Uncle climbed up with your baby monkey and brought you down. After talking to the doctor, we decided to remove the tail. So instead of swinging everywhere, you jump ran thru the cats maze we set up for Smokey… This is still her favorite story and has bonded us forever. I’m asking that you all pray to whoever you believe in that my son, who’s raised her since birth with me gets permanent custody. Moms not in the picture, however did file a objection. Papozz asked us to file for custody. Uncle has been her father figure for almost 12 years. She calls him uncle and Buddy. Although my son is young he has gout in feet, knees and elbows. When I was post op, it broke out in his foot and elbow. Even with the pain, he one crutched to the kitchen and made breakfast before she got up. For him, nothing comes before his… Read more »
