Martinsville PD: Homeowner shot, killed would-be burglar

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — A homeowner allegedly shot and killed a would-be burglar in Martinsville on Sunday.According to a press release from the Martinsville Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of West Pike Street around 1:30 p.m. to investigate an attempted burglary. When police arrived at the scene, they determined a homeowner shot and killed a would-be burglar.
MPD confirmed the homeowner has been cooperative with detectives and evidence technicians who responded to the scene to investigate the shooting. Police do not believe the shooting poses any ongoing threat to the neighborhood.

Clay County homeowner holds would-be robber at gunpoint until deputies arrive
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Clay County homeowner heard someone outside of their residence early Monday attempting to remove their window AC unit. He retrieved his shotgun, went outside to investigate and spotted the suspect, Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident occurred in the area of Devilwood Street and Discovery Drive.
The homeowner confronted the suspect and suspect walked towards him, according to the sheriff’s office. The homeowner fired a shot at the ground as a “warning shot” and held suspect at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
The suspect was taken into custody.

Man shot in neck while breaking into Jackson home

JACKSON, MI — A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the neck while breaking into a Jackson home.The 40-year-old homeowner called police around 5:44 a.m. Monday, April 7, to report an ongoing home invasion in the 300 block of North Gorham Street in Jackson, police said in a release. A man had broken a basement window and was walking up the basement stairs when the homeowner confronted him.
The homeowner fired a single shot from a handgun, striking the 47-year-old man in the neck, police said. Police found the man on the staircase when they arrived.
The man was taken to Henry Ford Hospital and is in critical condition, police said. He admitted to breaking the window to enter the home, saying he thought it was vacant. The man is homeless, police said.
The homeowner was taken into custody for an interview, police said.
