Jerry A. Vroombout; Yet another phony SEAL
See, this is what the SEALs get for all of those books and movies – they’re like fleas. Jerry Vroombout’s records were sent to us by OEF Veteran and he ran them by our friends at SOCNET. But he’s sharing this DD214 with anyone who’ll look at it;
A couple things about the DD214 – the separation date (block 12b) is November 1982, unless the dude time traveled 12 years ahead, the Kuwait Liberation Medal wasn’t offered to US personnel until July 1994, because we had to fight that whole liberation of Kuwait first. I’ve never seen the Basic Airborne Course called “Static Line Parachutist”
OEF Veteran says that when asked about his class number for BUD/S, Vroombout said “98” which would have been the wrong year for his DD214, he missed it by a number. “99” might have been correct. Here’s what he wears in public;
And here’s what his FOIA says about his career;
Here’s what WIKI says about that “Battle “E”” thing;
The Battle Effectiveness Award recognizes sustained superior performance in an operational environment within a command.[1] To qualify for Battle “E” consideration, a ship must win a minimum of four of the six Command Excellence awards (Maritime Warfare (Black “E”), Engineering/Survivability (Red “E”), Command and Control (Green “E”), Logistics Management (Blue “E”), CNSF Ship Safety (Yellow “E”), Efficiency (Purple “E”)),[2] and be nominated by their immediate superior in command. Eligibility for the award demands day-to-day demonstrated excellence in addition to superior achievement during the certifications and qualifications conducted throughout the year. A ship’s performance during training exercises, weapons inspections, and tactical readiness examinations are among the 16 different areas that are considered in the competition.
So, it’s not what it sounds like to us drier service members. I guess it’s like a year-long AGI.
Category: Phony soldiers
It never ends with these people does it? My AS2 told me that when he went through IOBC there was a 2LT there that was wearing the Trident. He failed land nav and it made some people skeptical. He said he thought that Senior Chief Shipley was the one that helped find out the truth about the guy but he couldn’t remember.
Click Click. Forged dd-214.
First off: the dark jacket and marroon shirt combo highlighted by the God awful tie … just stinks of PHONY.
Just based on the way he dresses …
Oh and records too …

GT- you may need an umbrella, but I need hip waders. FL is getting knee-deep in these turds. Would someone please come help shovel some of them OUT?
That booking photo? Def post-Village People. He was the cop…
@9. Florida, huh? Maybe an ASSociate of Phil’s?
Vroombout…Isn’t that one of those robotic vacuum cleaners?
@12.
I have noticed that about Florida.
Maybe put a call in to hire Giduck and his shovel.
Man Don must be having a heart attack with this dude … I’m STILL waiting for a phony to claim Class 131, OMG that would be PRICELESS!!
Regarding his record and the Battle “E”.
There is nothing to suggest this guy was anything more than an below (way below) average Sailor (at best).
No personal awards, no good conduct, no warfare qualification (pins).
If his command was awarded the “Battle E” … it means that this shitbird was on a good ship!
Has this DD-214 been turned over to VA?
I betcha … I just betcha …
@13.
If only Phildo and/or APL would answer calls seeking explanations and clarifications as to his military, law enforcement and Native American claims. But since this is the case, we will never be able to ask Phildo about his brother from another mother “Jerrydo”
Though I have a sneaking suspicion they are in the same MC.
Out of curiosity: anyone know what that red/white/blue/green ribbon the guy is wearing on the inboard of his second (next to top) row of ribbons might be? I certainly don’t recognize it.
Discharged as an E6 with close to 17 1/2 years combined service (active + reserve) with zero personal decorations and no campaign or expeditionary medals. Yeah, that really sounds like most folks in the Special Operations career field.
I just pissed myself:
DD-214 Last Duty Station: DEVGRU DAM NECK VA
Wrong … DEVGRU DAM NECK VA was not even born yet!
Geeze …
About that forged dd214:
Even if you get transfered to the Reserves shouldn’t your Rank being related to your former assignment? How come it says AE2 (Aviation Electrician) when he should be a petty officer 2nd class (E5) with SEALs?
Furthermore I hardly doubt that “DEVGRU DAM NECK” would be the correct term for that unit on official papers. Should propably say “NAVSPECWARDEVGRU” at least….
Hondo – It is a Mert Unit Comm (MUC) or Navy Unit Com (NUC) … I have a shit load of those but never memorized the difference.
@ JAS … AE may not have been a source rating. He went into the SEA BEES in the Reserves hence the Const Electrician rating of CE.
Finally …. there was no DEVGRU when he was discharged as per his DD-214.
More than likely it might have said if it was legit:
NSW ST-6
NSW SEAL Team SIX
or
NSW
But there is NO WAY according to dates on his DD-214 is was DEVGRU.
Either way Jerry A. Vroombout is a fraud and should loose his Electrician’s License in the State of Florida.

A facepalm isn’t even required with this one. Implied facepalm will do.
It looks to me like he certainly doctored up his DD-214 to make hisself a SEAL, but that DD-214 only reflects his active duty service. His FOIA shes that his service ran until 3/06/1994, so it looks as if he may have separated from active duty and then shortly thereafter enlisted USNR. This would also explain the change in rate/rank from his DD-214 (AE2, Aviation Electrician’s Mate, explaining the LAMPS and SH-2F training) to what his FOIA (and picture) shows (CE1, Construction Electrician’s Mate). He may have been told to change his rate upon signing up with the USNR, which I guess could happen. Anybody know?
What bugs me, though, is how the heck did he get the parachute wings on there and STILL have the backing clasps showing! PFM.
Word has it that they are avoiding calls.
Jas beat me to it.
Is this TAH’s version of the Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week”? We can call it “SEAL Week”. Now if we could just get the shark to breach while eating the phoney SEALs.
Jeez, I’m really slow today. He just placed the wings and Budweiser on top of his shirt.
Sorry, I’m an idjit.
Hondo – NUC
@ 27 … “It is bad week to be a Phony SEAL”
The BULLSHIT is getting deep today, and I live in Indiana. How many phony SEAL post does this make for today?
Wait! This might just be a doc mixup, that’s all. I mean his name is Jerry Vroombout, right? It’s not one of those rare ones, like Smith or Jones. Think. Aside from Jerry boy here, you all probably have known a boatload of guys named Vroombout, right?
Actually White Pages says that there is only one Jerry Vroombout in the entire country.
@MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)
You may correct me Sir, but the NavSpecWarDevGru was created in 1980(ish). The big merge with SEAL Team 6 as a consequene of irritations with its acquiring and administration of armaments happened in the early 90’s. I think ST6 completely vanished in 94.
So if he seperated in ’82 as mentioned in the dd214 it’s highly unlikely to be in DevGru. If (more logical) he seperated in ’92 it is possible being part of DevGru at that time. Even more, since the two units hadn’t merged already being an actual Aviation Electrician Mate there is possible. Every actual Development Group I know and worked with consisted of a lot of tech personnel of various ranks to plan and oversee the development of new equipment, vessels and so on.
I’m in no way defending this dude, but maybe he served within NSW and added the lousy SEAL claim to his career after he transfered to the reserves. You know “I served there, so I wanna be part of it” like the Chairborne Ranger phenomenon with clerks in ABN Units and so on…
Thanks guys. One of the other things I noticed on the DD214 is the Multinational Force and Observers medal. This is an Army mission. I know I was on it back in 88 when it was still an Active Duty mission and not the ARNG one it is today. OP3-6 out of South Camp at Sharm el-Sheik. He would have been their in 1982 when the MFO was beginning to emplace at the North and South locations. According to that DD214 he got out in Nov 82.
Do any of you squids know if the Navy provided assistance in getting this organization up and running?
I do love how the clown brigade always selects some innocuous ribbon or award never suspecting that someone might actually come across it and have that same ribbon/medal. The MFO medal ranks towards the bottom of the list for Army awards. Actually looking at my own ribbon rack it ranks BELOW the Overseas Ribbon and the Army Basic Training (aka Rainbow) Ribbon.
@ JAS … I knows my NSW and community history quite well. I think we are saying the same thing!
I am most certain … his DD-214 would not have had DEVGRU DAM NECK for that period.
So much wrong with this DD-214…
1. As Master Chief pointed out, DEVGRU didn’t exist (in name) in 1982. It was still called SEAL Team 6 then.
2. The 214 says he was an AE2 (NEC 8375) LAMPS maintenance technician. Not sure how you go from AE2 to AE2(SEAL) to CE1 and stay a SEAL. Neither AE nor CE were a source rating for SEAL in those days, meaning he would have been required to convert to a SEAL source rating upon award of his Trident in 1979. It wasn’t until 2006 that SEALs had their own rating (SO/Navy Special Warfare Operator).
3. The difference between a NUC and MUC is the level of the operation to which you’re attached. MUCs are for lower level ops/exercises and NUCs for things like DESERT STORM, etc.
4. His awards listed in block 13 are out of precedence order. No self respecting Personnelman would list them out of precedence order. He obviously through them in there in the order looked most impressive.
5. The aforementioned KWM not awarded until more than 10 years after this DD-214 was issued.
6. The ribbon rack shows the Navy Commendation with “V” device. Not annotated on the fake 214.
7. The picture looks like he’s laid the wings on the uniform without putting them in.
8. The Multinational Force Observers Medal wasn’t awarded until 1982, retroactive to 1981. Unless he was a SEAL on MFO duty in Sinai (wouldn’t we have had better things for a young, freshly minted SEAL to do then) he wouldn’t have that.
Blah, blah,blah, phony.
All of the ribbon devices appear to be crooked and “slopped” together.
This maggot is turd soup.
threw vice through
Turdbuurglar should be, going forward, referred to as
“Vroombutt”.
@35, I did MFO twice in the late 90’s when it was still AC doing it. It is now going back to being an AC mission along with KFOR.
Another arrest:
http://mugshots.com/US-Counties/Florida/Seminole-County-FL/Jerry-Vroombout.2822652.html
@41 yeah Twist but it’s not a Navy Mission it’s an Army mission. Always has been to my knowledge. Was originally rotated between the 82d, 101st, 7th and 9th Infantry Divisions. The 101st had a major crash at Gander Newfoundland back in the early to mid 80’s. Those troops were returning from the MFO mission. The 18th Airborne Corps had overall C2 of the mission. I never saw a US Navy guy on South Camp back in 88.
As others have mentioned, we are raining phony SEALs this week. I’m SEALed out for the rest of the fiscal year…
Let’s see, a Navy Commendation Medal w/ “V” device, but no combat action ribbon? Only one good conduct medal and no Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Medal as an E-6? Saudi medal for Desert Storm, but not the SW Asia Service Medal? This stuff gets to be so easy after a while.
@33. One huh? Well tie me up and call me doggie. That makes him special. I wonder why he ruined his uniqueness (I really do wish the word was uniquity) and enrolled in the University of Stupid along with the rest of the lads.
Bobo, you beat me to the punch on the Southwest Asia Service Medal. So let me throw in another one, you can’t get the Liberation of Kuwait Medal (Saudi Arabia) without being awarded the Liberation of Kuwait (Government of Kuwait) Medal. The Kuwaiti medal actually has a longer inclusive period than the Saudi one.
