Warrior Cafe not for the Warriors?
Now, most of you know how much I love Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The medical staff are the best (and prettiest) you could ever want. But those admin pukes suck real ginormous ass. Here’s another example; The Warrior Cafe is a centrally located dining facility in the building where most of the wounded warriors are – makes sense, right? Well, Fox News reports that the Warrior Cafe stopped accepting meal cards;
The decision would mean wounded warriors who would normally have a government-funded meal just down the hall would have to walk, wheel or limp nearly a half-mile across the Walter Reed campus to the temporary “food trailer” for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“I mean it’s called the Warrior Cafe, you would think it is for us,” said Sgt. Josh Wetzel, who lost both his legs when he stepped on a pressure plate IED outside Kandahar, Afghanistan in May 2013. He’s been recovering at Walter Reed since and has been a daily customer at the cafe.
The status of the military’s decision may be in flux.
After Fox News submitted multiple inquiries with senior military officials earlier this week, the Pentagon responded late Wednesday. Lt. Col. Catherine Wilkinson, a Pentagon spokesman, told Fox News that Dr. Jonathan Woodson, assistant secretary of Defense for health affairs, has decided to reverse the changes.
But they haven’t yet, actually. And they shouldn’t have to be told by Fox News that it’s the wrong decision. Those staff pukes who don’t have to deal with the patients should know that their decisions have consequences outside the doors of their offices. Like I said, the doctors and nurses at Walter Reed are world-class professionals and the admin goofs are world-class assholes.

1. Are they closing the cafe or just no longer accepting meal cards?
2. Why a temporary trailer ?
3. Where is the memorandum signed by a senior member of the staff, authorizing this action?
WTF!!! Like, what the hell did the jackass that made that decision think that the possible backlash would be? This is just plain stupidity at it’s highest, and to add to AtDrum’s comment @3, hell I hope they just blew their career completely out of the water.

Guess the problem was that the Café meals were costing more than what a meal at the mess hall/trailer would cost. No shit. I understand the part that it isn’t a mess hall, more like the Subway’s and crap we have at Quantico, where they obviously don’t take meal cards, but WTF? Put them on com-rats or BAS or whatever it’s called these days. I’m sure the lads don’t eat every friggin meal there. Please to unfuck this. Immediately.

What a great society we have here. Those who give the most are treated the worst. This is but an example.
Vet’s Affairs. I don’t need to tell any of you what shitty shape that group is in.
Taxes. The rich are already picking up the majority of taxes. They won’t stop till it’s all of it.
Employers. Now, in addition to carrying the salary and workers’ comp insurance plus all the other benefits, the Obamacare mandate is going into effect to schlump more shit on the shoulders of people who provide jobs.
Active Military. Dicking around with things like retirement and Tricare. 1% pay increases.
I am going to take a guess and say this will not stand.
If this gets out for enough people to here about it with
stories on the TV news and news papers and on the web,
it will be reversed. And the money will show up from an
account they have forgotten about, isn’t that always the
story when an asshole is shown to be an asshole.
I hope no one has a bowel problem in the place. Can you imagine? I wonder which code that is. It’s not Blue or Red. They would have to evac, give refunds–man, that would be a shame.

Well no shit. They re-instated it. Guess the backlash caused some whiplash in the head-shed. Where was the Common Sense Officer with his ugly stick when the “Bright Idea” guy came up with this one? Anyway, glad to see they got their options back. Hope someone got their balls beat like a piñata for this brainiac move.
Our National Guard troops who were injured in Iraq in OIF3 (from Calif) were returned to Ft Lewis. The ones that didn’t have to be in the hospital, but had little things like busted legs, arms, brain injuries etc…were housed in the old WWII barracks on the 1st and 2nd floors…no elevator. Then they had to hobble blocks to the bus stop to ride to where the mess hall was.
But the bus didn’t always come.
It never ceases to amaze me at how disposable our military members seem to be once they become incapacitated and unable to bring the fight to the enemy. After they’re medevac’d out of theater, they become second class citizens and pushed to the back burner.
Eww, those demanding debeat wounded folk who come and go just don’t know how hard we work in air conditioned offices all day doing PowerPoint and Excel, we need our own cafeteria just for us… let ’em eat cake! (REMF careerist bureaucrats, they never change.)
