Just me or does my flower look a little suspicious?
I must have gotten a gay Aerogarden or something. It’s like a Penn State locker room around here. I don’t really want this flower staring at me all day, but I don’t want to be caught picking it either.
Should I just toss the whole garden, ask for a new office, or just accept that my flower looks like a penis?

The flipside of this is that your penis could look like a flower.
It’s not worth moving. The penis won’t last long. They never do. Just embrace it while you’ve got it.
Ahhh my eyes, my eyes!
I’m curious as to what, exactly, you did on your vacation that when you get back, that is staring at you……….I’m just sayin.
“It’s like a Penn State locker room around here.”
That’s totally fucked up since it was a grown man molesting young boys.
Also, this post is along the lines of homophobic. Are you insinuating there is something wrong with gay people?
I’ve been following this blog for several months now and I’m severely disgusted in this post.
Lighten the fuck up, Francis.
Looks more like the Baghdad Correctional Facility to me.
Lighten up Francis.
The homophobia thing is a joke, as you would know if you read us longer, since I am virtually alone around here in being totally cool with Teh Gheys serving in the military, getting married, doing my interior design etc.
And yes, the joke about PSU is in bad taste. You know what is even in worse taste, the fact that any of those people are still employed.
You know what is even in worse taste, the fact that any of those people are still employed.
Ah, but see, the ghey lobby would have you belive the NAMBLA line that men buggering little boys is perfectly normal and acceptable.

The fact that JoPa is still coach of Penn State and that students are actually SUPPORTING him tells me how fucked up some priorities really are.
Sparky- I am literally flabbergasted at PSU’s response. So 7 people in authority knew what happened, and not a one of them stopped and said “HOLY SHIT, someone call the cops before I kill this dude”? And now PSU is going to form a committee to look at it? I’d sooner see a pitchfork brigade go down there and mess the dude up. Just unfathomable to me.
Joe Pa did what anyone would have done in the Military, reported it up his chain of command. Yes he should have probably called the cops, but he did not, when he found out he did do something about it. Its the administrations fault for not following up sooner. I am sad to see one of the most revered coaches in college football go out like this.
And what makes it worse is that it’s been going on for 15 YEARS.
400 Division I wins or not, JoPa needs to GO. NOW.
My advice: Photoshop Vlad the Impaler’s face above it, give him a slogan right below (“he will deflower the country” or something) and award yourself some Amazon credit.
Jeff- I will agree to a point. I would report it up, yes, absolutely. But, if I ever saw the dude, I would be like, “How come he’s not in jail yet?” and then look into it, no?
I am very sad to see him go, and he has done a lot of great things for the school, but this one is a bit hard to overlook.
Alb- Competition will be coming up incidentally, I haven’t forgotten, just getting back from the vaca!
Sorry, Jeff–reporting it up the chain absolves you of only so much responsibility. He knew a crime was being committed and didn’t call anyone besides the AD and say something akin to, “Hey, I heard this kid is diddling little kids, you might want to do something about it.”
If I saw a crime in the military, I notify base security (on base) or the police (off base) in addition to my chain of command, where applicable. To not do so would make me as guilty as the perp.
I’m with TSO. I call the cops. AFTER ensuring the perp never pops wood ever again.
Toss it – you don’t need the sexual harassment charges you’ll be slapped with in 15 years when you run for Congress.
“Jeff- I will agree to a point. I would report it up, yes, absolutely. But, if I ever saw the dude, I would be like, “How come he’s not in jail yet?” and then look into it, no?”
Some of us might think “I reported this, evidently they investigated it and found nothing wrong going on.”
Since a false public accusation (which happens all the time) can ruin somebody’s life and all. And we’re big on “innocent till proven guilty”.
Innocent until proven guilty clearly applies to criminal cases, yes, certainly. But when you are a high profile organization like PSU football, and where the victims are underage children, doesn’t one have a higher burden both to the victims, and the shareholders (ie. Alumni etc.)
Again Spade, do not concur. JoePa’s biggest mistake was ASSUMING someone in a position of authority would contact law enforcement at some point. To not take matters, even discreetly, and make that call would be something I’m not sure I could live with. How many kids did Sandusky molest AFTER the 2002 report to Paterno? IMO, Paterno bears at least some modicum of responsibility for those assaults, if nothing else.
The fact that they’re NOT going after him tells me his (lack of) prosecution or appearance in front of a grand jury smacks of special favor because of who he is.
The penis flower in his office is the LEAST of TSO’s worries when he runs for the Senate.
(NB: that may be the greatest sentence about TSO I have ever written)
“But when you are a high profile organization like PSU football, and where the victims are underage children, doesn’t one have a higher burden both to the victims, and the shareholders (ie. Alumni etc.)”
No, I kinda like equal protection.
“The fact that they’re NOT going after him tells me his (lack of) prosecution or appearance in front of a grand jury smacks of special favor because of who he is.”
They’re not going after him because notifying his superiors fulfilled the letter of the law.
On the JoPa thing, I think there’s a big difference between not doing a wrong thing and doing the right thing. I think JoPa probably did what was required of him, but at the same time, for something of this magnitutde, some people have to fall on their swords and when you’re that high on the chain of command (making more than the President of the University) like JoPa is, you have to step up and take the hit.
I don’t think JoPa is a bad man necessarily for leaving it at reporting it up the chain and not paying too much attention after that (or wondering why YEARS later nothing had happened to the child rapist) and I don’t think it erases the rest of his career (or should) but there’s going to be a hell of a footnote when they get around to writing his obit someday.
Laura, I’m sure your disgust and offended sensibilities are duly noted (and deposited into the circular file where they belong). Lighten the fuck up.
TSO – that’s a very small penis.
BTW – do you have any idea how badly I want to blog this with the title: TSO has a small penis…
And with the body of the blog: outside his window (linking to your blog entry)…
I’m trying to refrain. Really.
TSO Writes: Actually Nicki, it’s right on my desk, next to my Sox coffee cup and my Red Swingline Stapler that Claymore gave me a few years back.
Picture added above.
How about putting a small paper bag over the, um, upstanding shrubbery and hanging a note telling people that they look at their own risk? But don’t mention the carefully located webcam.
As for Penn State, this is the second time recently that they have covered for/ covered up possible criminal action. The first time only involved fraud and funds, not souls, but the pattern is very ugly.
Is JoPa responsible for what happens in his locker room? Or, does he get to say, not me, I never go in the locker room, so it doesn’t affect me.
It’s his program, his coaches, his football team, his locker room, his showers. If he gets to bask in the number of wins, he gets to take the responsibility of what happens in his program.
And, he gets to make sure that any aberration in his program gets taken care of. He didn’t do that, and it says volumes that he wasn’t curious about why nothing was done.
I will not lighten the fuck up. You’re cracking jokes at the misfortune of children. What the fuck is wrong with you people.
As a parent and disabled vet, I’m ashamed to have served with you all.
I really don’t think this is the blog for you Laura. You’ve at least dropped the homophobia angle, which is a plus, but if you don’t get this post, it’s just not a place you should be hanging out.
Sometimes a penis flower is just a flower. And, I might point out that my PSU joke has spurred a conversation on the culpability of individuals vis a vis legal versus moral, which would in fact be the point of blogs.
The fact you are all fired up by this, and yet have added nothing to the discussion about Joe Pa and the relative culpability of the parties involved (that everyone else is discussing) might be more indicative of you than us.
Get a vagina looking flower to balance things out, a fung shu sorta thing.
And by the way, I’m a parent and a disabled vet too, and I’d like to take the culpable individuals and flay them slowly with a rusty fork while pouring hydrochloric acid on the wounds. But that’s quite beside the point…
You obviously don’t get much and are ridiculously uptight. I’ll echo what TSO says. “I really don’t think this is the blog for you Laura.”
TSO – It initially looked like a photo from outside your window or something. Glad you clarified that you actually have a very small penis…
…on your desk.
Not sure which is worse!
As for JoPa – no I don’t think he’s a bad man, but this was a failure to report a CRIME! A crime against children, no less. A felony. You don’t just report that to higher ups and wait for them to take action, I don’t care who ya are.
TSO-
you can take care of the flower very simply and easily.
First, go to this old TAH post-
http://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=1342
Second, point your computer screen to the flower and leave the room for twenty minutes.
If the flower hasn’t wilted by the time you get back, it isn’t gay-it needs to go to the nearest OWS protest.
TSO has a flower on his desk???
Penn State football coach Joe Paterno — rocked by child abuse charges against an assistant coach — will announce later today his decision to retire at the end of the season, according to his son Scott and a source close to the decision who spoke with the AP
Holy crap, Laura. I’m guessing you weren’t navy.
There are plenty of folks in that chain of command who failed to do the right thing, and they ALL should be shown the door. Every one of them should be charged with failing to report criminal activity to the proper authorities.
Pathetic Little Laura —
Here you go.
http://www.blackfive.net/files/hurt-feelings-report-da_form_imt_wf1.pdf
After you have filled this out and submitted it to Ex-Marine SGT Shamar Thomas at Occupy Wall Street, take your overly-sensitive, self-internalizing act over to Democrat Underground or Huffington Post where you belong.
I’m starting to wonder if the flower penis is not an OTSOD (Occupy TSO’s Desk) protest in the form of performance art. I will have to check with my sources in the Interior Semiotics community and get back to you.
@Laura: Seriously, lighten the fuck up. I’m not a mom (thank god since I really don’t want any children had enough of that as an NCO) however, I abhor anyone who abuses a child. I still see the humor in the post. Seeing as you were in the service I would have thought you would have understood the ghoulish sense of humor that a lot of vets have. Like a few others have said, if you are offended maybe this isn’t the place for you.
As for Penn State, just because you reported to higher what was going on doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have acted. Especially with the severity of the crime committed.
Are you telling us that you’ve been sucking small, immature flowers in your office, TSO?
Red Swingline Stapler
I like it because they don’t bind up as much as the Boston…and then last year, I had a cubicle by the window, and there were two squirrels out there, and they were married…and I said if they move me again I’m going to set the website on fire.
Laura–a question for you–do you take the stick out of your ass before you go to bed at night or do you sleep with it jammed up there? Nobody here is making light of the fact children were abused by this shitbag, quite the contrary.
RIF, hon. (Reading is Fundamental)
“As for Penn State, just because you reported to higher what was going on doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have acted”
What do you do besides report it? Shoot the guy yourself?
I would (at a minimum) think you should report it to law enforcement. I would assume that such a thing would normally be subjected to dual reporting: tell my employer what I witnessed so they can seek any legal advice on how to move internally, and report it to actual law enforcement since a crime took place. If the leaked reports are correct, it doesn’t seem like what this guy witnessed was susceptible to some interpretation challenges.
Spade–that’s WHY you report it to law enforcement. Just like taking presumptive action would be considered vigilantism, NOT taking action could in a sense be considered vigilantism as well in that YOU, not the legal system, made the decision.
That’s not what the law states.
“On Monday, law-enforcement officials said that Mr. Paterno had met his legal obligation in alerting his superiors at the university when he learned of the 2002 allegation against Mr. Sandusky.”
>@Laura: Seriously, lighten the fuck up. I’m not a mom (thank god since I really don’t want any children had enough of that as an NCO) however, I abhor anyone who abuses a child.
I am a mom and abhor child abuse, but you are right Laura needs to lighten up! Good God, she give hysterical females a bad name! TAH is definitely not the blog if you are a politically correct person!
I just don’t know what to think other than JoePa did what he thought was right at the time and if the higher ups dropped the ball, why does it fall on him at this stage of the game because he did report it…
And TSO…I’m loving the photo…Laura is just touchy and I take no personal offense to being a fellow vet because your flower looks like a piece of wood! 🙂
@defend: Joe Pa still allowed this clown near his football program, after learning of the incident he reported. That, I think, is the point of contention that will put a stain on an otherwise solid career.
Fox News today had a guest commentator who stated that JoPa did contact the College (campus?) Police as well as the Admin about the perv. The College Police apparently conducted a minor investigation and told the perv to ‘not take showers with children’. The guest commentator gave the name and picture of the head of the Campus LE at the time.
TSO, as to your phlower … why do you keep you office so cold dude, turn up the heat a bit!!!
Its a conspiracy I tell ya … that plants are occupying everywhere!!!
