Navy Officer Sentenced
P-8A Poseidon
Lieutenant Fan Yang, a former Naval Flight Officer based onboard NAS Jacksonville FL, has been sentenced to four years behind Federal bars for purchasing firearms for a Chinese national, and lying about the relationship.
According to court records, he is guilty of conspiring to violate U.S. firearms laws making false written statements to federally licensed firearms dealers during the purchase of two firearms, and again making false written statements as part of a security clearance background investigation.
He developed a relationship with Ge Songtao, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China. Ge pleaded guilty last year to several charges attempting to purchase and ship inflatable military boats from the U.S. to China. He was sentenced in July to three years and six months in U.S. federal prison.
Fan’s wife was employed by Ge’s company, and pled guilty to charges related to the scheme.

Jacksonville Navy officer gets prison time in secrecy-clouded case involving Chinese CEO
Steve Patterson, Florida Times-Union
A Jacksonville-based U.S. Navy officer will spend four years behind bars for crimes he committed because of his connection to a Chinese business executive, a federal judge said Wednesday.
Lt. Fan Yang, 37, was convicted in November of conspiracy and gun crimes for supplying the executive with guns to use at shooting ranges during business trips to America.
The sentence also covered his conviction for lying to Navy officials to hide his relationship with the executive, Shanghai Breeze Technology Co. Chairman Ge Songtao. The executive was trying to smuggle American-made equipment to China to copy for the Chinese military and hired Yang’s wife to help his company while Yang was stationed at Jacksonville Naval Air Station.
Lie down with the dogs, wake up with the fleas. Fan was a Mustang, and had a choice instructor billet at Navy Weaps. All thrown away for greed. Thanks, David.
AMF, Fan.

Several musings………
I know that when I was stationed in Korea, the US Army would NOT hire or put into any sensitive position any Korean, because it was almost impossible to to determine any South Korean family or other relationships with anyone in NorkLand. Security risks and compromise.
I’m wondering if the same shouldn’t be done with any/all persons of Chinese ancestry. The CCP runs EVERYTHING in the Middle Kingdom (China), even if it has a cover civilian name. So, to prevent security & compromise risks, fire/don’t hire ANY Chinese……..or their relations.
That would mean the Post Turtle McConnell would have to leave the Senate (convince me that’s a bad thing).
I leave the floor open for discussion…………….
Yeah, Grandma Mitch is not one of my favorite “republicans” either.
IMHO “Blubberneck” McConnell doesn’t make a decision without checking which way the wind is blowing, he’s another part of the DC inner establishment that needs to go!
No argument here.
I was TAD to Korea a couple of times, flying missions against the NORKS. The South Koreans were allowed to see some of our intel, but the vast majority not. I felt like I was in a spy novel what with the South Korean guys in our space constantly trying to get access to ALL our intel. A real pain the ass.
Flew in their P-3s as a civvie Project Specialist. Very professional military. Their operators kept after me on how best to optimize the acoustic system for US nuke submarine signatures.
Nice try.
Too late, too many of our political animals are snout deep in the Chinese trough. Starting withe the head retard in charge.
I remember former MI guys who married German girls and had to leave MI because the women might have relatives behind the wall. Now we have Chinese nationals working in defense industries and other sensitive places and no one seems to notice. Or care.
What else did he “give” to the Chinese national?
No doubt, it was his first time… (insert sarcasm).
Staying on topic of the sea service…
The Navy has canned a rear admiral for unwanted kissing. C’mon man, for PINO Joey Depends, unwanted hugging & sniffing was a Tuesday at the office.
Rare firing of flag officer for sexual harassment came after unwanted kissing (navytimes.com)
He violated social distancing and mask mandates
Guns good people bad.
Yep. I have yet to see or find a bad or mis-trained gun anywhere. But PEOPLE now……….
Beware the Chicoms and their “building personal relationships”; it’s how the scam people and get sh*t they shouldn’t have.
Hmmm, interesting parallels here. Seems as if I recall some rumors about another Naval Ossifer that falsified certain federal documents in order to purchase a firearm. This Ossifer also had many dealings with foreigners, Oriental and European. From what I understand, this ossifer’s Naval career took a blow and cracked like a glass pipe. I hear he is trying to eak out a living as a painter now. Bless his heart. Maybe I should get him to bid on painting the new deck and ramp at Firebase Magnolia?
Wake up America. The Chinese Communists are NOT our friends. Their spies are deeply embedded in every aspect of our Society, including the highest levels of grubermint.
Not to mention their infiltration of our universities and tech companies. Also, one of their primary tactics is compromising the elites in every country they seek to influence and loot of intellectual property.
Eric Swallwell un-available for comment.
I KNEW there was someone I forgot to include in my comment above.
Thx.
He still has a clearance
*POW!*, right in the kisser!
IDIOT.
Remember back in the day we were trained there were three (later four requirements) to see/hear classified.
And part of it included training that just because someone was a high ranking officer didn’t qualify them to see/hear classified.
That apparently doesn’t apply to Congress critters.
Of the 535 Congress critters how many don’t have a clearance.
I want to make a joke about “Fan” tail here…….
Not a fan 😐
Been sitting on that one all day
Ge whiz, where is yin to get together with Yang
Amazing, a Navy officer commits multiple felonies by straw purchasing firearms for a ChiCom likely foreign intel agent and commits fraud to get a security clearance. He gets four years. But the guy who went into Nancy Pelosi’s office on 1/6 and put his feet up on her desk is supposed to get seven years in the federal pound, according to the DOJ.
