Man killed in Carson City officer involved shooting

By Kevin Sheridan
CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – A man was killed in an officer involved shooting just after midnight on New Year’s Day in Carson City.

At around 10:34 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, deputies with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office were called to the 4000 block of Old Clear Creek Road for a domestic dispute. Witnesses told police that the suspect was not on the property but had made threats via text message that if law enforcement made contact with him, he was going to “shoot it out.”

At around 11:54 p.m., the suspect returned to the area. Deputies attempted to make contact with him on Old Clear Creek Road and there was an immediate exchange of gunfire before the suspect barricaded himself inside his truck.

Between 11:55 p.m. and 12:15 a.m., deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect, who refused all instruction. Then at around 12:17 a.m., the suspect emerged from the truck reportedly armed with a handgun and a second shooting took place.

LEOs I’ve met would prefer not to engage in a shoot-out but are willing to oblige if pressed. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

Jennings! Blasters for the Broke!

26Limabeans

Had a J25 when I was a teen.
Carried it on my paper route until my dad found out.
Nowadays I carry the LCR in .38 +P.
Not that much bigger but nowhere near as cool as the Jennings.

“Domestic dispute”. The two most(ly) feared words in any officer’s vocabulary.
When two people fighting each other, suddenly begin fighting YOU!

Said he was going to have a shootout with the police if they showed up. He let it be know that he would shoot it out with police ahead of time. Sounds like he wanted to die by cop, because he couldn’t do it himself. I would rule this a suicide.

A good way to commit suicide by cop is to not follow the instructions of Occifer(s) Friendly and then start shooting at him (them).

I’m not very sociable around Socialists…and have enough intelligence to avoid them.

Mr. Saturday Night Special…indeed! Handy to have for keeping a bad guy’s head down until one can pull out a real “self defense” firearm…or a paperweight.

Some escort duty today into the Little Big Town. Wonder if Jeneanes is open? Got a hankering for beef tips on rice, sliced ‘maters, her delicious dressing, and cat heads.

Suicide by cop should have a special place in Hell for the pain it inflicts on the LEO.

And talk about Jennings! They make a Glock or Taurus look good. I remember those things, although to my knowledge I never saw one.

Co-worker had a Raven .25 years ago, wouldn’t even punch a hole in a plastic five gallon bucket of water at 15′. Yep, I’d buy a Taurus before one of these jam-o-matics.

Is that pistol another “Pot Metal Special”, the type that some pawn shops won’t even touch?

Graybeard

It appears so.

I had a Jennings J22 I basically gave away, and supposedly have my dad’s Raven .25 ACP in a box somewhere.

Oh, and I have a Lorcin .380 as well. Hi-Point doesn’t fall under the Ring of Fire, but I do have two high quality examples in .40 and. 45.
