Someone sent us their work on this Ron Worthey fellow who claims that he was with 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam. He’s the President of Souls of Honor. He claims that he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Silver Star. You can see them pinned to his cap in the picture above.
When asked what his MOS was, he claims that they didn’t have MOS back in those days.
Of course, there’s a vest;
Well the truth is that he spent about 17 months in the US Navy from July, 1965 to December, 1966. He never got anywhere near Vietnam and his only award is the National Defense Service Medal.

Yeah, I’ve got a vest, but it only has stuff on it that I actually earned, except for one I was asked to display for a family member. And those that are clearly “In Memorium.” And a couple that are just for grins, one of which must be covered when around children – about Hanoi Jane.
Yeah, when anything service related is clearly marked “In Memoriam” that is honoring someone. Its absence clearly signals that the medal or what have you is the wearer’s.
Apparently, there are over 13 times more phonies claiming to have served in the Vietnam War than than those real veterans who actually served in Vietnam. Funny how none of us talked to non-veterans about our service in the Viet of the Nam back in the 1970’s when being one was not popular, and now so many of those of our vintage want to falsely claim to have served there.
Sir, I actually talked (about their service) to 2 RVN Veterans just before my enlistment started in 1976.
Being jaded by hanging out at TAH, I hope that they were not lying.
I certainly hope so too. Even without TAH this POSer epidemic was in full force over ten years ago, as I observed with the data base on the old POWNET.

You think Worthless Ron would know that SF guys had to be airborne-qualified. There’s a reason the SF patch has the “Airborne” tab above it. Worthless Ron is quite the MORON…
One cannot go to any SF qualification course if one is not already airborne qualified, period. Even the foreign officers I took the SF officers’ course with were all jump qualified. The reason is, in part, one has to jump as your means of infiltration in the final field exercise. Also, one does not go to any SF Qual school as a Navy enlisted man.

Not sure if I’m understanding you , but plenty of SEAL and Recon Corpsman including myself have gone through SOCM/SFMS…it’s part of our pipeline…actually has been mandatory to get the NEC now for decades
I am talking about the foundational course to qualify for the Army’s SF MOS’s and I am referring to back then. With all the SOF joint training going on now, I imagine there is quite a bit of cross-training going on between the services. I had two Navy Seals in my Ranger School class. Still I don’t think the Navy or the Army now would spend the money to send a Navy E-3 with no training other than boot camp to a very expensive six month SF qualification course.
