Steve Schuler; phony Navy flight officer

| August 10, 2015

Steve Schuler

There’s this guy, Steven Schuler, who claims to be an O-5, Navy Commander and a Naval flight officer as well as a special warfare officer on some social media sites. Here’s his profile from Rally Point;

He even earned the OEF Campaign Medal about ten years before it existed;

Actually, no, not according to the National Personnel Records Center. He was discharged before the War Against Terror as an E-4, and it looks like he did a float in the Persian Gulf sometime after the Gulf War (he has the Southwest Asia Service Medal that was awarded for service there between August 1, 1991 and November 30, 1995 and his service began in 1992).

So, to recap, he’s not an officer, he’s not special warfare, he’s not a flight officer, but he did have a lot of training and a pretty good career, you know, before he decided to crap all over it with his lies.

ADDED: But his life is about get busy, apparently;

A Commander of nothing; a Legend of his own mind; a Liar of his own time…

Twist

Somewhere out there, there is a regular Sailor reading this blog wondering if s/he was the only Sailor in the Navy that wasn’t a SEAL. Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only Infantryman that wasn’t Ranger/SF/Sniper or doesn’t have a Silver Star and has only one CIB.

Guard Bum

Much like I am one of the very few Marines that was not in Beirut for the bombing.

Snotcrow

There there Twist.

I too, and among the few that does have a CIB and very little more. No high speed medals, no high speed training. I have a few scars and a bad back, does that count?

Silentium Est Aureum

Never claimed to be a SEAL.
Never wanted to be one.

Stacy0311

Naval flight officer? Why would anyone claim to be self packing luggage?
And if you recall, Goose died!

MustangCryppie

LOL! Guess it depends what airframe you’re on. I flew on P-3/EP-3 and the “FOs” were the heroes. The pilots were the “bus drivers”!

AW1Ed

*throws the bullshit flag*
So MC, how come that I as an enlisted Acoustic Mission System Operator could do the job of any ‘FO on the P-3C crew (and did!), but none of the ‘FO’s had any idea or desire to do my job, hmmmmm?
NBL, buddy. 😉
PS
After I got my private pilot’s license, I also drove the bus on transit re-po’s. The expressions on the faces of the ground pounders was priceless when they moseyed into the flight station, and saw AW1Ed sitting left seat.

MustangCryppie

Huh?

By the way, I was not an NFO. I was enlisted operator, then a mission commander on EP-3’s (NOT an NFO).

I should have put quotes around “heroes.” I had quite a few dustups with the NFOs.

Still doesn’t change the “fact” that the pilots were bus drivers. They got us to the place where we did the job.

USMCE8Ret

Florida, huh? (Imagine that…)

Hack Stone

Anywhere near Merrit Island? He sounds like he could be All Points Logistics material.

CLAW131

SSN still posted to DD214.

Shouldn’t it be wiped?

MrBill

Good catch – it was redacted on every document except the 214.

MAC(SW)

Yeah, because Aviation Boatswain’s Mate is just like being an NFO, with the exception of the whole officer/flying thing……….

As far as his training goes, it appears that he was either completed or near completion on his Advanced Damage Control PQS that would indicate that he might have actually been attempting a run at his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) qualification, definitely not the norm in the early 90’s.

Another perfectly respectable stint in the service flushed down the crapper!

I saw a very refreshing story this morning in a local rag. It spotlighted a military retiree’s service. My first reaction was “uh-oh, time for the Rambo account.” Nope. The story related the pride the Veteran took in his support job. No mention of medals. No claims of secret missions or “then there was the time” stories. How refreshing!

Twist

My Father-in-Law was that way. He was very proud of his service in Vietnam as a Chinook mechanik Almost all of his war stories, as he put it, was his funny REMF stories.

A Proud Infidel®™

Kinda like my neighbor across the street who’s Retired AF and a Vietnam Vet, he was an Aircraft Mechanic and has some good tales from where he served in the rear. As I see it, he was very legit, the fast movers can’t fly if they aren’t maintained!

Airdale USN

Now that is a true statement!!!!

Ex-PH2

Well, that’s just a shame. I’d be more interested in hearing about what he actually did than what he makes up. What a jerk.

OldSarge57

Yeah. ABM’S on carriers have some pretty good stories. Good thing he works in “Loss Protection” where honesty is really important! Think he embellished to get a manager position?

Hondo

Hmm. Wonder if his employer would be interested in seeing his records above?

Coco

No worries, he no longer has a job there after being arrested for grand theft (from said job).

Hondo

Grand theft, eh? Any way you could post a link to an article about that? I’m sure a number of people would love to hear the details.

Stolen Valor: just the rancid cherry on top of the dung sundae.

More like a toadstool on a “cow pie” in some pasture!

MrBill

I used Google to try to run the story down and was unsuccessful. I did find a story about what appears to be another guy named Steven Shuler getting stuck in the wall of a house while trying to avoid arrest. It’s pretty entertaining, so I’ll leave it here –

Check out the website keysso.net. You can find his long list of current charges there… You can also see where he is currently being housed 🙂

I accidently hit the wrong button and reported your comment- SORRY!

Listed as Steven Chadwick Shuler (no C).

Ex-PH2

Arrested for grand theft?

Irony, thy name is Stolen Valor.

Shirley in KW

There’s more! Go to keysso.net, arrests and mugshots, list of current inmates. There’s a new arrest, just a few weeks ago. Three felonies and a misdemeanor! Trust me, there are words for him that I could use, but won’t!

MustangCryppie

Jonn, you’re showing your Marine bias!

Unless it’s changed since I was at sea, Marines do “floats”, Sailors do “cruises.”

I’m sure my fellow squids and Marines will correct me if I’m wrong!

A Proud Infidel®™

Hey, he’s a shoo-in at APL or some see-kyoority outfit or another in Memphis.

Nice update to the article, Jonn. (smile)

Green Thumb

Someone needs to call down there to All-Points Logistics and let this maggot know that George Michaels wants his “look” back.

Hack Stone

He does display Phildo-istic attributes. Must be enrolled in their mentoring program.
