Mark Wayne Tiemann; Round Marine found

| February 25, 2014

Fat-Fuck

Well, it took more than two years, but we finally identified the Round Marine. His name is Mark Wayne Tiemann and he lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was identified by a neighbor who has heard all of his wild ass stories and he’s seen the uniform in the picture above.

But here’s a picture of him without the phony finery (notice the USMC tattoo);

Tiemann5

Yep, he was a Marine, but he was discharged as a Sergeant back in 1992 with seven years of service;

Tiemann FOIA

His real awards are somewhat fewer than what he’s sporting on the picture above;

Tiemann Awards

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the two photos for doubters;

RoundMarine&Teimann

Thanks to everyone who participated in the successful conclusion of this particularly long hunt.

@295 Dog, the CAR for ground Troops in the Corps is action becoming while under fire and returning fire. That is why it had to be amended for IED’s and retro’ed to 2001. Shipboard is another situation and a lot of heartburn for us dirt water Sailors.

High school sophomore…….During my time Vietnam, circa 1971. If you were in country you received “Combat Pay” If you flew you received flight pay, regardless if it was hostile or not.

As to being awarded a CIB, I served with the 1st Cav. As I recall, our rules were fairly strict. Returning fire was not a requirement, but being under fire was. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that sounds great if you can help Mark Tiemann. I have never been in the military so I don’t have any creds. I understand were those who have served are coming from when they see someone lying about what that have not earned. I don’t know what KMRIA means.(lol?)

I hope that once people have been publicly shamed
will cooperate, face their demons, and get help.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

CAR is all about Hostile Action with an Eneny and or Aggressor … One side or the other. Either way when awarded by ISIC it is earned. Some may not be awarded a CAR but may be awarded an EM. Either way it is earned. The difference in what one may say and what the IS IS … IS history and the truth.

Any friggin’ questions?

Carry on!

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

@ Voice Two. I thought you were a sock puppet. If not sorry. KMRIA is an important ode to OBL!

HS Sophomore: Just An Old Dog is correct re: “combat pay”. It’s based on service in a defined geographical reason. TDY/TAD and deployment both qualify.

And yeah – some “combat zone” designations are pretty much head-scratchers. Kuwait was from 1990 to present, continuously – and there haven’t been any significant hostilities against US forces in Kuwait for over a decade. It doesn’t lose combat zone status until mid-year this year.

Pay in a combat zone is also largely exempt from taxation (the exception is officers who make more than the chief enlisted member of their service – that portion above the top enlisted member’s pay is taxable).

Until a couple of years ago, one day in any month got both combat pay and tax exclusions for the entire month. Combat pay for partial months is now pro-rated based on date of arrival or departure from the combat zone area. I believe the same is now true of the tax exemption, but I’m not positive.

Predictably, that led to some real abuses. In Vietnam, it was reputedly fairly common for crews based at Clark AB in the Philippines to fly a mission to Danang AB in Vietnam on the last day of the month, find a heretofore unknown “mechanical issue” with the plane (necessitating an overnight stay and a maintenance check the next day, of course), then return to Clark after the “bird was fixed”. That got the bird’s crew combat pay and tax exclusion for both months. Do that enough times and you also could pick up the campaign medal based on required number of days/sorties for personnel based outside the theater of operations.

I’m sure there were similar abuses during the recent conflict, but I haven’t heard of any that were quite so blatant. Most of the out of zone “tourists” I saw while I was deployed actually seemed to have a valid reason to come.

Seadog

@316, which is why we got so many “stateside” visitors at the end of a given month. Stayed until just over the beginning of the next month, viola, 2 months of tax free status.

Hondo

Seadog: yeppers. In Vietnam, the practice almost certainly wasn’t limited to folks from Clark or other nearby bases.

I didn’t see much of that in Afghanistan or Iraq, but it could have been going on with other units. As I said above, those I knew of who came to visit from outside theater seemed to have a valid reason to come.

Hondo

Voice Two: “OBL” definition above provided by Army ATC is correct. You may also see the variant “UBL” – “Usama bin Laden” is another accepted variant of the name of that evil terrorist bastard (may Shai’tan sodomize his soul daily).

Green Thumb

Mark,

Fat, ugly and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Turd.

Hondo

Channeling your inner “Dean Wormer” again, Green Thumb? (smile)

ExHack

Hondo: DHS seems to prefer UBL to OBL.

Shaitan sodomy is appropriate for him. Personally, I’ve always enjoyed the image of him getting his 77 virgins … all crusty old Catholic nuns of the Sister Mary Elephant variety, in full habits and swinging thick wooden yardsticks. Not the ones he was expecting.

Hondo

ExHack: I prefer this image of bin Laden’s 72 virgins:

Nice “Cheech and Chong” reference, by the way. (smile)

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Sr. Mary Elephant …. Nice!

“Class, Class …. SHUT UP!”

Marine_7002

@295 Old Dog: I was with 4th MEB (aboard USS Iwo Jima…yep, the old one) during DS/DH. We didn’t hear a shot fired in anger, and the vast majority of us didn’t go ashore except for several pre-war exercises. When the war was over, the MEB hauled ass and was back home by April 15.

Imagine our surprise when we found out that a whole bunch of Marines and sailors in the MEB would be awarded the CAR. Turned out that they gave it to anyone who was on a ship that crossed an imaginary east-west line in the Persian Gulf. The justification was that “mine” thing. Supposedly any ships crossing that line were exposed to mine hazards and thereby qualified. *snort*

Most of us on those ships were asleep when the air war started, and when the ground war started. I can see awarding the CAR to the ships that actually hit mines (i.e. Princeton and Inchon) and/or (maybe) were actively engaged in minesweeping activities. But awarding us the CAR was a travesty. I didn’t wear it after the award was announced (never got into my OQR for some reason), and didn’t until it showed up on my DD-214 and I wore it at my retirement ceremony.

It’s supposed to be a CAR (Combat ACTION Ribbon), not a COR (Combat OPPORTUNITY Ribbon).

Dawg

Re: Marine_7002 I concur. Some 47 ships in ODS rec’d the CAR simply for ‘geographic location’. Some ships did shell Kuwait. I’m pretty sure it was the Tripoli & Princeton that contacted mines. My unit was split among a few ships, with each detachment doing something different at a different locale. I was on a ship that got stuck in a minefield while heading up the Gulf to raid Faylakah Island. When the ground assault started, I switched from 4th MEB to I MEF and went back to the dirt in support of the 1st & 2nd MARDIV. A few years after I got out, I heard rumors my unit was awarded a CAR. So, I did some research. My old Top was still in so I called him. At first he told me the CAR on one ship was supposed to be ‘by name’ for those who came under fire in a helicopter. (I found later the ship got it simply for location). He said another ship got it because ‘they snagged a mine’. He told me that my ship rated it (due to location) but supposedly never submitted for the award. He faxed me a copy of the award message & it did mention something that ships which were in a specific geographic zone had to submit for the award. The most absurd thing was that Top served right with me the whole time, from when we first landed in August ’90, till we came home April ’91. He got the CAR; I didn’t. Neither of us were fired upon. How did he get the CAR? His RECORD BOOK was held on the ship that met geographical location & submitted for the award, while mine was on a ship that met geographical location, but didn’t submit for the award. His record book was awarded the CAR. Years later, I talked to another Top from my unit & he told me the same story. He said he thought it was a joke he was awarded the CAR, but since they put it in his records he had to wear… Read more »

@323: 🙂 But Blues Brothers vice Cheech and Chong.

Helen Thomas vs. Sister Mary Elephant … God, that’s a tough one. Who does OBL deserve more?

Army ATC

Definitely Helen Thomas. For OBL, Hell would have to be listening to a short ugly troll of Jewish woman for eternity.

ExHack

The nuns would enjoy an eternity of bringing the pain train though. Please, think of the nuns.

Mr Blue

Why can’t it be both?

OAE CPO USN Ret

It looks like he took down the bit about graduating from the Naval Academy. One small step Teabag, err, Tiemann (dang autocorrect again). Now how about going to the nearest VFW (perhaps that ran you off for being full of shit) and dropping off the rest of that crap you didn’t earn.

Voice Two

Do any of these phonies ever cooperate and turn the medals, badges uniforms, etc. that they didn’t earn in? What happens if the do? How much trouble do they get into especially if they have served in the military?

NHSparky

Depends–did they break the law in the process?

Voice Two

That guy Corey that is lying about his service and injuries in order to get medical marijuana mostly likely would get in a lot of trouble. Right?

This guy, Mark, is probably just looking for attention and has PTSDS like the semi-polite woman said that answered the phone at his home. My concern is that he has firearms.

Army ATC

PTSD from what? It certainly isn’t the combat he lies about being in.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Voice. Generally, one of two options when separating posers.

1. Serious character flaws plus financial motives.

2. Dumbass Dipshit Syndrome (DDS).

I like separating them into two simple shit piles.

Wearing uniforms, medals, ribbons and badges is illegal under Title 18, however seldom procecuted … However when there is financial gain and or fraud involved, LE often becomes more interested.

Voice Two

What’s LE? Law Enforcement?

ExHack

Yes, LE is law enforcement. In this case, it doesn’t appear that Roundy directly benefitted from that size-56 Short set of blues. However, in his case, LE may become interested in him very quickly if in fact he is running an active firearms business without a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL). That is a great way to earn oneself an all-expenses-paid extended vacation to resorts in scenic spots like Marion, Illinois; Victorville or Atwater, California; Pine Knot, Kentucky; or the granddaddy of them all, United States Penitentiary Leavenworth, Kansas.

You might now be saying to yourself, “Well, OK, but that’s incidental to Roundy’s stolen valor.” What we have seen so often (SV has been a hobby of sorts for me for about a year – guys like Jonn Lilyea, TSO, Hondo, the Shipleys, Scotty, and Mary Schantag have made this their vocation a lot longer) is that SV is almost always the tip of the iceberg for lots of other problems. Master Chief’s simple dichotomy is also an easy sort for the kinds of problems. In many cases, rocking the Stolen Valor lie is a symptom of (or a tool for) swindling, stealing, sexual predator conduct, drug use and/or dealing, or
“only” inflating one’s reputation to attract customers to one’s business. (Which under the revised SV law is now illegal – profiting from the lie.) In others, it’s a symptom of emotional and/or mental disorders, from simple narcissism or insecurity right up to full blown schizophrenia. To summarize, normal, healthy, well-adjusted people never feel the need to create identities they did not live, claim deeds they did not do, and wear medals they did not earn, claiming them as their own. Think about yourself, and I’ll assume you’re relatively “normal.” Would you even for a moment think of going around town claiming you’re a highly-decorated elite former warrior? Didn’t think so.

Valkyrie

Beautifully stated. You sure do make purty words. (giggle)

Voice Two

Well said.

Army ATC

God darnit, Mr. ExHack, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore.

If no one from DoJ, FBI and or ATF does not want him maybe NCIS, DoD OIG and or another three letter agency may. But considering he is a SEAL, BUD/S grad, EOD, with NC, PH and many other awards he might as well KMRIA and GFH because we can acronym all day long and he is still one Class A, Type 1, MOD 0 fuctk stick!

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Mark. I have NOT forgotten about you!

You hung up on the wrong person.

Pay back is a bitch.

The press will eat you up if real Marines don’t do it first!

Voice Two

I should have picked a different name! 🙁 I’m just to trying to understand and be the voice of reason. Can I post that I found this on Archives.com: Mark Wayne Tiemann, 5811, MSSG-11. He was in Desert Storm but how do you find out if he is a combat vet?

Army ATC

Find out what unit he deployed with and look up it’s history.

Voice Two

What is 5811? the unit he deployed with? What’s MSSG-11? Where do you go to look up that history?

clamsgotlegs

Dear Voice Two:

Ever heard of an internet search engine?

Learn to use one.

This place is full of acronyms and abbreviations. You might find the urban dictionary helpful as well.

I would suggest that you cease trying to be a “voice of reason”. We do not need to waste time explaining every acronym to you.

Your posts have not contributed to the exposure of any new evidence on this poser.

I suggest that you read more and post less until you have learned more about this place.

Thank you.

ExHack

Clams, I sure hope he has someone here listening in and asking pertinent questions. Roundy needs better advice than the voices in his head have been giving him. As far as my points (and others’) above re: the FFL – if in fact he has been doing gun business without a FFL, the one thing he can and must do now is to start talking to the best lawyer in Las Cruces, or maybe all of New Mexico, and get his affairs in order. It’s too late for a coverup. Las Cruces sounds like a small place, there will be people who can attest to his doing business, and the ATF will find those people. If in fact he has been doing gun business sans FFL, ATF will drop on him like a daisy cutter. If he tries to destroy evidence by covering up, that should be good for an extra 5-10 in one of those resorts. He needs help right now and very badly.

So what if Roundy has guns? Almost everyone else here has guns. Hell, I just about have enough to open up my own home-based FFL.

Voice Two

If he has/had a license for FFL he most likely has a Tax Id #. I think that his company’s income is public information with the IRS and companies like Standard &Poor.

ExHack

He is not incorporated with the NM Sec’y of State. Others have done batch runs of FFL holders and determined that up to 2011, he HAD one for Tiemann Gunsmithing, but does not appear to have one currently.

Again, if in fact he has been operating a gun-related business since then with no FFL, I strongly advise him to retain counsel and get his affairs in order … quickly.

I’ve been researching him for two years! I know that he was offered a substantial amount of money and a job just because of his claims to be a seal. Voice 2~
You should follow Valkyrie’s advice and do some research and then if you have questions come ask us. We are happy to help Civilians understand the depth of what Stolen Valor does. It is NOT a victim-less crime. It eats up resources that real vets need. It also makes it difficult for Civilians to know who is a real vet and deserves their thanks versus seeing a Poser and giving them thanks, attention, maybe buy them a drink or meal. In other words, They are damaging REAL VETS to where Civilians won’t know who to trust. Just like people who claim to have had some bad thing happen to them and the public donates to them to help them out only to find out later that it was all fake and fraudulent. That is what Stolen Valor does to us.

Think about that..You do not need to be a voice of reason. If you are in contact with this person, then you need to convince him to do the right thing by turning in the medals that he is not entitled to and apologize to us that he has harmed by stealing valor. If he is sick then he needs to get help….that is YOUR job is you are in his circle.

Oh btw..change your damn screen name…

Toasty Coastie

OOPS! Sorry I meant clamsgotlegs, not Valykari..

Voice Two

Ok, yes I “know” Mark. I stopped communicating with him once I realized that he was a bull sh*t artist. I did provide him a gift under $50. I have been researching him for the last 2 years and I just want to know if he served in Desert Storm like he says. He also says he was injured there.

Just An Old Dog

Vioce Two,
I read through his crap, and came up with the following info and theory.
Fact: He was in the Marine Corps
Fact : He Deployed to Southwest Asia for about 8 months with BSSG 15 ( Brigade Service Support 15) Thats a support group with the 15th MEU, not the 11th.
MOS 5811 is Military Police, Which I highly doubt he was. Since he is into gunsmithing I suspect he was in the 2111 MOS field, small Arms repair. Looking at the history of BSSG15, they repaired equipment, they were by no means a combat unit and they suffered zero combat casualties.
Tiemann was in Desert Storm, but not in combat, any physical problems he had was not from that. Looking at his rank and time in service, his date of discharge and body type it looks like he had to get out because he was not making weight or failing fitness tests.
The only thing close to an excuse he has is that he is reported to have had a stroke in the late 1990s, which probably scrambled his eggs and affected his judgement. Sick or not he cant be trusted to stop the shit on his own, his family and friends need to take away his toys.

I’d LOVE to see William Derek Church, Mark Wayne Tiemann and Dennis Chevalier in a fight the the death cage match over a 7 lb block of gubmint’ cheese. 😀
