Leonard McQuown; Veterans’ Miracle Network liar
A few years back, Virginia warned it’s citizens about phony veterans’ charities. Especially, the Veterans’ Miracle Network, also known as Project Foot and Operation Walk America
They all lead back to a single fellow, Leonard “Mac” McQuown who claims that he was a Marine sergeant and now he wants to help homeless veterans. Well, Scotty checked him out and he was Marine, but but not a sergeant and he was a deserter for more than 200 days. From Fredricksburg.com;
According to the military personnel file for McQuown, at the end of his second four-year active service period he had four months of unauthorized absence, about two months of confinement and one day “in hands of civil authorities.”
His record also lists desertion. He was discharged in February 1988 after being demoted from sergeant to private first class.
Quantico spokeswoman Haney could not go into further detail about that period of time because it is part of private records.
McQuown said the unauthorized absences and ultimate desertion resulted from problems caused by a fiancée at the time, who he says conned him and ruined his credit.
“I believe your past is your past,” said McQuown. “Everyone makes mistakes.”
Yeah, everyone makes mistakes, but they don’t form a charity and claim to be something they were not. Here’s his FOIA;
According to the state of Virginia, very little, if any money goes to veterans. And the dude is still out there scamming well-meaning people out of their money to line his pockets.

He looks and sounds like another proud scammer.
Once a bullshit artist, always a bullshit artist.
Scum, with a very special place in Hell reserved for him.
I sincerely hope there is indeed a special place in the afterlife for these people who would take money from good hearted and good intentioned people seeking to contribute to veterans causes and steal the money for their own nefarious reasons.
McQuown you deserve all the negative karma you are earning lad, bu I hope you are the only one who has to pay that bill when it comes due. Karma, being a harsh mistress, often lands without care in the middle of your life and forces your innocent relations to pay your bill….that’s a lesson I’ve seen taught far too often in my life. You would do well to mend your ways and start running an honest operation or close down and fade quietly into the sunset.
Here’s a call to action – this poser either got someone to nominate him or he nominated himself for the “Eagle Rare Life Award”, a contest sponsored by Eagle Rare Kentucky Bourbon.
check out the link – http://eaglerarelife.com/content/mac-mcquown-1
This is the only email I could find to let them know they are allowing a poser/fake/scammer the chance t win $40,000.

Maybe if enough contact them, they will pull his nomination. Then again, last year’s winner, Tanya Evans is a controversial figure in the Gold Star community, to put it mildly. I guess they don’t vet the charities or nominees.
The Great Fucktardo there better watch out on his walk. One of those scary veterans with the PTSD and stuff might make him a hood ornament.
My he die penniless and alone.
He defines the term ‘not a nice guy’.
Really grinds my gears when these types wear uniforms they didn’t serve in.
Like I’d never go throw on some OD jungles cause they were never issued and I never served in them, but it seems like every swinging dick that didn’t serve in the digital camo wears it.
What a shitbag with legs.
Sounds like he failed out of MSG School. Either that or he really shit the bed if he did get posted to an embassy. I’m doubting he ever passed the school or left Quantico, as an Embassy would be listed on his duty station.
You can find him on facebook, where people actually forgave hiim for his dumbass schemes not knowing just how dirty he really is.
He puts me in mind of Harry Reid, in that greasy snake oil salesman way.
A radio breaker (2531) who scored a seat at Marine Security Guard School. He must have f’ed up real bad to not return to the fleet after whatever happened at Quantico.
Usually depending on how bad guys screwed the pooch on MSG they would be reduced maybe one rank and sent back to the fleet via Quantico, Sounds like he got sent back to Quantico, had some legal action/ Went UA and got the boot. We had a few guys in my unit that screwed up on MSG but not bad enough to get the boot,
He is my uncle and i can more than attest to the fact that he is more full of shit than a porter john.
he took a 200 day vacation but it wasent his fault it was someone elses fault he forgot he was in the Corps
@5- I contacted Rare Life and this was their response:
Thank you for writing to us. We will investigate this issue and decide whether to keep the story published or not. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate your help with keeping our contest fair and honest. Keep in mind that just because a story is in the top 20, does not mean that they will necessarily win the grand prize or any of the other donations. We take into consideration all the inquiries that we receive and choose the best recipients for our awards.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Rare Life Award Team
As of this morning, his profile is still there.
Article was wrong about benefits. No VA benefits when you receive a big chicken dinner. Unless your discharge is appealed and changed.
He duped me. I feel like such a moron and what makes it worse besides being a vet I am in law enforcement. Read a story yhat he got 80,000 from a donor for project foot. The donor found out but said he never expects to get the money back.
Mac was booted from Eagle Rare Life and his walk is dying a slow and painful death .
Don’t let up on the facts, folks. He’s trying to dupe people and we’re the only way they have of knowing the truth.
Nice to know Eagle Rare Life has investigated him and has disqualified him and booted him from their contest.
