Breanna’s supervisor suspected he would spy
Seriously, WT actual F? Former Army Specialist Jihrleah Showman testified at Breanna Manning’s court martial that she suspected he would become a spy and reported that to her supervisors according to the Tribune;
There were other telltale signs. He complained someone was eavesdropping on his conversations, and “he indicated he was very paranoid,” she said.
Once, she said, she pointed to the U.S. flag decal on the shoulder of her Army uniform and he responded that “the flag meant nothing to him and that he did not believe himself to have allegiance to this country or its people.” He told her he joined the Army to earn money for college and to learn more about computers, she said.
[…]
She said she had been awakened and told to report back to the unit to investigate why Manning was still there.
Once she arrived, they shouted, a table tumbled and he hit her in the face, she said. On the ground, she wrestled him into submission. “He should never had messed with me,” said Showman, who used to play football. “Back then, I had 15-inch biceps.”
Yeah, and he had a 15-inch waist. I can’t wait to hear how his commander explains why he didn’t do something about Manning.
Category: Shitbags
I think the commander’s excuse is going to be along the lines of “We were understaffed and I was told not to kick anyone out because of it.”
There are always indications
And most of the time there are always people willing to ignore them
WTF did I just read? Soooo…..a female SPC was assigned to be his FLL, then had to beat the hell out of him after a shouting match got violent and……did this result in a counciling statement, or an Art. 15 or something? This clown’s 1SG and commander have some explaining to do.
ayhahahahahah manning’s trial gets to hear stories of him getting beat up by some cute little brunette
^^Like, Smitty^^
NICE!
I’m betting the command was walking on eggshells around him because he was a chode yodeler, and they didn’t want to be perceived as picking on a homosexual.
Too bad she didn’t snap his spine, so he could share a cell with Hasan
Bet Manning’s leftist supporters are reeling at this story. I don’t care how liberal or far left you are this shit is funny.
I am just annoyed that he was using my network while we were supporting FOB Hammer to do his dirty deeds.
“He sometimes slept in a ball in the corner.”
God damn it, US Army!
“Showman, after four years in the Army, has retired from military service.”
How do you retire after 4 years in the military?
She can try to grapple any time she wants to, might be entertaining… And I’m still wondering why we haven’t summarily executed this weasel for colluding with the enemy during a time of war. Afghans and Iraqis I’d worked with were killed cause of that fuckstick. Good people
Can’t be, Lucky. Manning’s disclosures didn’t hurt anyone, remember?
Yeah, right. In Manning’s case, I do indeed wish the Army had had the balls to leave the death penalty on the table. The little shit deserves it.
FatCircles0311: that’s possible if the retirement is due to medical reasons. As I recall, the breakpoint between medical retirement and medical discharge occurs when a military medical discharge board rates someone at 30% or more permanent disability (NOT to be confused with a VA rating) of a nature that would preclude continued service. It’s been a while, so I’m not positive 30% is the correct number.
It’s also possible the reporter screwed up and should have said “left the Army” vice “retired from the Army.”
Brother Hondo, I pine for the days where the Army would mete out punishments such as the firing squad for such offenses
Lucky: frankly, I’m glad Manning can’t get the firing squad.
That’s a dignified, proper, military execution. Someone who’s betrayed their comrades-in-arms doesn’t deserve that courtesy.
I’d personally prefer to see him hanged. (I’d actually prefer a 1400’s style English drawing and quartering, but that wouldn’t pass Constitutional muster.) I’d settle for seeing him getting the needle, and can tolerate seeing him rot in prison for the rest of his life.
But a firing squad? Hell no. He doesn’t deserve that dignified an exit from this world.
DITTO on firing squad and hanging, Hondo!
@8 The left isn’t reeling, they are claiming the story was completely fabricated.

@Hondo, you’re right, 30% is still the dividing line between disability retirement and separation with severance pay.
you met good people that were iraq and afgans? did they know they were iraqis or afgans? i mean, i met a few of them that were good people, but saying the good ones got killed is rather redundant
By good people, I’m referring to the ones that were trying to rebuild their countries, not blow them and us to hell
She had biceps bigger than her head? Wow, what a load of bs. How do you “suspect” that someone is a spy? That’s a damn serious accusation that even the most lazy and ambivalent CO would take seriously. Unless he was caught with a suitcase full of Russian rubles, I don’t know how anyone can make such ridiculous claims with a straight face. Something doesn’t add up here, folks.
@21
Welcome member from the Democratic Underground
@21
If you had been paying attention all along..you would know that is the crux of his defense case…that he displayed numerous warning signs that were all ignored (at least my more senior personnel)…so the fault should rest with everyone but him
A baby’s head is twenty inches at birth. Welcome, anonymous, on your first ever visit
Anon–my biceps are 16-17 inches, and I’m by no means a heavy lifter.
And if Breanna’s defense is that SOMEONE should have known he/she/it was serious, well, Breanna was already on its way out of the Army, cupcake. That excuse is about as lame as a murder claiming he shouldn’t be found guilty because he pointed a gun at someone and threatened to kill them but nobody stopped him before he pulled the trigger.
Accountability for one’s actions–ain’t it a bitch?
@22 Nope, sorry. I don’t read that libtard shit. But I do find it funny that liberals are the ones poking holes in her story. They certainly aren’t doing Barry any favors.
Civilians just don’t get it. That bothers me. Manning released hundreds of thousands of classified documents. The only ones ever mentioned in the news are the AWT videos. Those account for a tiny portion of the total amount of classified documents he released. Did you ever give any thought as to what was contained in all those other documents? How truly damaging that info could be in the enemies hands? No, you didn’t. Because you just don’t get it. The classified information that Manning was given access to was NOT his to give away. That information cost the US taxpayers millions of dollars, and in some cases even American lives, to obtain. That information does NOT belong to those who have been granted the privilege of viewing it. That information is being lent to them so they can do their job with it. It is not given to them. That’s what you don’t get. That is why Manning’s crimes are so serious. And that’s why Manning’s chain of command should have heeded the obvious warning signs and immediately put him on shit burning detail.
@26
He was Article 15d for this incident before his “spying’ came to light
So you mean that the Army went back in time and fabricated this article 15?
And if it is all BS..why is the defense using it as the keystone of their case?
Wall to wall counseling. That’s exactly what Breanna got, but s/he didn’t get enough of them, obviously.
The little rat bastard fairy princess needs to rot in prison.
@15. Drawn and quartered works for me. I’d pay to watch it live or on Pay per View.
Unlike some of the TAH crew who put journalists in the same category as pond algae, my own inclination, at least in straight news reporting, is to mostly give them some benefit of the doubt. So it’s not a casual rant for me to point out that the Tribune writer did a sloppy job on Showman’s testimony in the Manning trial.
In the first place, there were evidently two incidents, not one, of Manning showing violence while at FOB Hammer. The initial one happened on December 20, 2009 during which he overturned a table in a conference room and had to be subdued. The second, the one in which he tried to deck Showman, happened May 7, 2010.
Serrano, the Tribune reporter, also seems to gloss over the fact that Manning wasn’t just sleeping in a ball in the corner of the SCIF, as if catching a few harmless Z’s, he was curled up in a supply cabinet which is a creepier thing entirely.
Apparently, nothing noteworthy happened after the first incident, but the second triggered a sequence of events including Manning getting busted to PFC, and having the brigade shrink recommend that Manning get kicked out of the Army. Also apparently, although the details are vague, nobody in Manning’s chain of command was aware that he was going through the transgender thing until late in the game.
Such facts, if true, discount the narrative that Manning was persecuted by being kept in the Army instead of released to get a sex change, because he never actually told anyone what was going on.
@21: So you have experience in the military intel field and have first hand knowledge on what a spy looks or acts like? Have you had briefings on people like Robert Hansen or Aldrich Ames?
I do have to admit, when the AWT vids came out, I tried to stay away and not see them.. scared shitless that if I watched it someone was going to be knocking on my door with a FBI badge. In my opinion the kid should burn at the stake. Life in prison is to good for him, a firing squad is to painless as well as hanging and a needle in the arm.
@31,, the TG thing is what I thing he thought would be his golden ticket out. But he had shit up his sleeve when it didn’t go his way.
#27: “The classified information that Manning was given access to was NOT his to give away. That information cost the US taxpayers millions of dollars, and in some cases even American lives, to obtain.”
That’s right. I’ll add that this is a republic. The military serves the people, and as such, Manning didn’t have moral right to make these decisions for himself. Like it or not, the President and those who serve under him can declassify things in accordance with the law, not Manning.
When any leftist tells you that they support democracy, remember that they supported Manning, and understand what liars they all are. Really, none of them support democracy unless there’s an advantage in it for them.
@24 Ah, damn. I had just had a brain fart. Now I understand you were talking about circumference rather than length. Damn that was stupid. And thank you for the welcome.
@32 That’s exactly my point. How could anybody know we have an Aldrich Ames type mole in the military without backing it up with any hard proof? Unless they did have something to go on and her CO royally fucked up or Showman is doing exactly what her last name implies. If the former is true, then why aren’t we seeing heads roll for this massive intel leak? Or is the Army really going to let national security be compromised so that it can save a few lower rank NCOs?
Soooo. .. what is it with Army senior leadership and ignoring warning signs of poor soldiers within their command. First, it’s Hansen, now it’s woManning. W-T-F over?
@37 Implying it is only the first and second time.. look at Benedict Arnold
@27: Some civilians, especially those with security clearances, certainly do get it. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to explain to Breanna’s supporters that this is a lot more than the Apache video, or some embarrassing-but-harmless diplomatic cables. Even if you don’t care about the foreign-national U.S. agents who were outed and probably in many cases killed because of Breanna’s actions (and you should), there’s also the SPII of U.S. intelligence officers and other civil-service and military personnel. Breanna may as well have handed AQ the Google Earth coordinates to his fellow Soldiers’ (and their families’) homes. HANG BRADLEY.
@36: Showman didn’t have to have hard evidence. If she had a reasonably articulable suspicion that Breanna was a security risk, she had a duty to report it – and apparently she did. It’s the job of the chain of command to investigate it. And clearly, Showman’s suspicions were founded.
Dead on target, ExHack. Moreover, a direct statement showing lack of loyalty plus violent and/or behavior indicating possible mental instability is more than enough to report when you’re talking someone with access to TS material.
Showman did her duty. The chain-of-command above her was notified of Manning being a potential security risk, but elected to do nothing. IMO, they have some serious ‘splainin’ to do.
Thank you, ExHack. You answered that the way I was about to.
@15: Oh deserves a firing squad, but the make up of the firing squad should be snipers that can put precise shots any where they want and start at his knees and stitch their way up to his melon.
Old Trooper: I still must disagree.
A firing squad is a humane, dignified, and uniquely military execution. Even when botched, it’s still a dignified and military execution.
Turncoats like Manning and Hassan deserve no dignity or respect. IMO they deserve only scorn, and should be treated like the low-life scum they are – not the soldiers they once were. They forfeited the right to be treated like a soldier the minute they turned against this nation and their brothers-in-arms.
Hanging would be the best option that passes Constitutional muster. Drawing and quartering, burying in an anthill, and various others are IMO more appropriate, but aren’t now Constitutional.
But the dignity of a firing squad for a turncoat like Manning or Hasssan? IMO, Oh Hell No! Hang the bastard instead, or give him the needle if policy or the Courts say we can’t hang him.
Since the Army apparently doesn’t have the balls for that in Manning’s case, then let him rot in jail for the rest of his life. And may that “rest of his life” be short and miserable.
@44 I agree. Let him rot in jail but not as a practicing Muslim. Same chow as everyone else, no Koran, no prayer mat. Jail for like as a soldier would experience it. Even though I no longer consider him a soldier. Or…a firing squad or hanging like Utah did. In Washington we still hang or give the needle, prisoner’s option.
@39 You are right on. Civies don’t get it and it is off their radar. But just how many agents and undercover were killed, captured or had their covers blown may never be known. The military here understand Manning as the terrorist in the closet s/he is.
His politically-correctified leadership were afraid of the leftwing Gaystapo response if they hassled Breanna ’cause he was a Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell type… all he would have had to do was play the they’re-mean-to-me-’cause-I’m-gay card and he would’ve been the next Margarethe Cammermeyer with all the associated negative press.
@47 Good point.
Bradley Manning got his ass whipped by a girl! Har Dee Har Har. Way to go SPC Showman!
Hondo and NRPax, YW. I’ll also add (preaching to the choir, I know) that based on everything else we know about him, Bradley didn’t do what he did because of his outraged conscience. I don’t consider him a whistleblower, or even probably a genuine transgender person. I think he’s demonstrated that he’s a confused little narcissist with delusions of grandeur and self-importance. He may have pulled this stunt to get out of the .mil, but he also did it for the attention and admiration he craves and believes he deserves, simply because he’s Bradley Effing Manning and he’s … how do you guys like to put it … a Special Little Snowflake. Fuck him. He got people killed and put lives in danger to feed his shitty little ego and senses of self-entitlement and self-aggrandizement, and he’s gotten some similarly self-aggrandized lefties and well-meaning but misguided civil libertarians to give him the attention he deserves. I’d love to see a nullification jury give him a 55-grain lead cure. Won’t happen, I know, and sorry for the soapboxing.
