Carbon County considering self-defense claims after Billings man shot dead near trailhead

By: Phoebe Tollefson
Carbon County officials are reviewing self-defense claims in the fatal shooting near a trailhead south of Red Lodge in April.

Chad Rockman, 43, of Billings, died from a single gunshot to the chest, according to Carbon County Attorney Alex Nixon.

The April 8 shooting took place at roughly 10 a.m. on Lake Fork Road, off Highway 212.

“It’s fair to say it’s being assessed as a possible self-defense, justifiable use of force case,” Nixon said.

Rockman, who was with one other person, was working with a couple to try to free a car stuck in a snowbank immediately before the shooting took place, Nixon said.

Nixon said he didn’t think the two pairs of people were previously acquainted. The couple resides in Carbon County, outside Red Lodge, Nixon said.

Nixon said he was aware of just the one gun that was used to kill Rockman, and no other weapons were recovered from the scene.

The case is still under investigation. No charges have been filed, and no arrests have been made.

6 arrested in fatal home invasion robbery in Utah

By Pat Reavy
VINEYARD — An attempted home invasion robbery in Vineyard resulted in one of the would-be robbers being shot and killed by the resident and at least six others arrested, according to police.

About 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the Concord at Geneva apartments, 125 N. Mill Road. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that one man had been shot to death during a home invasion robbery.

Four homeless people have been arrested for investigation of robbery: Baboucarr Trawally, 27; Diego Fuentez, 18; Gabriel Little Hawk Trane, 21; and Sarh Sone Jabbah, 18. A total of four males and two females were taken into custody, according to a police affidavit.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon confirmed Wednesday that two juveniles were also taken into custody and booked into the Slate Canyon Detention Center. One was arrested for investigation of robbery, and the other had a warrant for being a runaway, he said.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH B Woodman

I briefly saw the b’cast on the Utah County “invasion”. The six people shown can only be described as rode hard, put away wet, and uglier than sin.
Good on the homeowner for putting one perp out of our misery.
I’m sure there’s enough names there for Claw to work his Whiz Wheel with.

So the four pictures of the boys at the bottom of the page not the same? They looked quite respectable. Don’t see the two girls though.
Sounds like juveniles with poor supervision.

They appear to be the same.
And it also appears that you need an optometrist and new glasses.

I don’t understand the Billings shooting. First they’re helping each other? Then they’re shooting each other? WTF?

MI Ranger

Have you ever helped someone out of a ditch and something did not go as planned? Someone hooked up to the bumper, not the frame, and off comes the bumper?
Next thing you know they are demanding you pay for it. I’m sure it started something like this, and escalated to where someone pulled out a gun…but did not say back off.
That is why I always say “here is a pair of gloves, and the cable. Hook it to your frame not the bumper so it doesn’t pull it off.” If the old lady says she can’t do something like that I reply “then you understand that if I hook it up, any damage caused by me pulling you out, is your responsibility not mine?” If they don’t agree, I offer to call a tow truck for them when I reach the nearest cell tower, or give them a ride.

Come on folks, we were so close to a FGS Trifecta! More range time people, more range time! Let’s all load up and go hunt some perps!!

Gives us an overall score of 9 to 0 counting the “Family Affair.” Willy if you read the linky in the Billings paper, you have a nice trifecta there of DRTs. The Whiz Wheel may have to go in for depot level maintenance after today’s work.

That shore is a purty piece of gun pr0n you gots there Mister. Reading into it’s propaganda you will find, AGAIN, that it always goes back to his Saintlyness JMB (Howitzer be his name). FTA “…accept the 13 round magazine of the Browning Hi-Point…”

Right after 9/11, we were issued S&W 4046’s double stack .40 cal 4in. barrel , hammer decock/thumb safety plus the DA only function. Large for my small hands and I had a rough time with it so I bought my own and every Friday night or Saturday morning found me at the Freeport PD range where I was a member of their attached gun club shooting at the outside and indoor ranges. When I moved down to Florida, I swapped it out for a used Beretta Mod 418, .25 Cal. which I shot once and in the safe it went.
