A sergeant major in the Thai army carried a mass shooting at one of the malls in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand. What started as a land dispute resulted in the sergeant major shooting the battalion commander. He proceeded to the battalion commander’s home and shot the commander’s mother in law.

He grabs weapons and ammunition from the armory, then shoots at soldiers before stealing a military vehicle. As soon as he gets to the mall, he starts shooting.

From the Associated Press:

Jakrapanth then goes to his army camp, where he seizes several assault weapons and ammunition. He opens fire and wounds at least three soldiers before stealing an army vehicle to flee.

Two policemen are shot when they try to stop Jakrapanth near a Buddhist temple. Two bystanders are also hurt.

By 6 p.m., Jakrapanth arrives at the Terminal 21 Korat shopping mall in Nakhon Ratchasima city. He sprays bullets throughout the area, hitting pedestrians as well as people riding in cars and on motorcycles. A gas tank near the mall catches fire, apparently after being hit by a round.

The gunman posts angry statements on his Facebook page along with a selfie that shows him in military gear, including a helmet, while the fire burns in the background.

Jakrapanth enters the mall and keeps shooting. Police block roads next to the mall and establish a 2-kilometer (1.2 mile) perimeter around it.

Clearly a Scary Black Rifle Ban would have prevented this asshole from murdering his commander, then stealing a bunch of government-owned firearms and ammunition from a military armory, then committing this heinous act, right? Ralphy Northam (In the Hood) says so!

after all, guns should only be in the hands of the police or military: oh, wait…

A Proud Infidel®™

Mmmmyeah, maybe we need to pass Laws against committing murder as well? Oh wait, never mind…

AW1Ed

All that only to be shot dead after a 16 hour rampage. I’ve said it before, wish these meltdowns would just suck a bullet first and save everyone the pain.

Liberals dancing in the blood of the innocents in 5, 4, 3,…

NHSparky

As normal, if it’s non-whites who are either perps or victims, it doesn’t fit their narrative and they don’t give a shit.

What rank does Sergeant Major implies in Thailand?

In some countries the SGM is an E6, while the senior NCOs are warrant officers. A SGM can be anything between E6 and E9 depending on the country.

Slow Joe

Wiki says the highest NCO rank in the Thai army is Master Sergeant 1st Class.

thebesig, can we remove this garbage human’s name? He wanted the notoriety. We shouldn’t be giving it to him.

I understand your logic, and agree with it to a large degree – but I think it’s important to be able to learn as much as we can about the perpetrators of these kinds of acts (for most, I doubt they are primarily motivated by the attention) in order to better predict/deter/disrupt/etc. such in the future, and that logically starts with being able to find their names.

They shouldn’t be spotlighted or held up as some sort of antiheroes, they shouldn’t be championed or lionized in the media, but their names shouldn’t be completely erased from history. Even the dishonorable dead at Plot E (the perfect way to treat such people, in my mind) have their names and crimes maintained on a register.

Some people worship and honor the Hitlers and Lenins and Capones of the world, but I argue that the notoriety associated with their names and behaviors does more to prevent atrocity than to promote it.

“Land dispute” Someone walked on the SGM’s grass? Savage.

Am I a horrible human being for finding that hilarious?

SFC D

If that makes you horrible, then move over. I laughed my ass off!

In late 2012, I ordered a Manhattan from one of my favorite bartenders. Unusual for him, he drowned it. I said, “hey, I asked for a Manhattan, not a hurricane Sandy.”

He asked, “what’s that?”

“A watered-down Manhattan.”

He shook his head and said, “dude, people died.” Has refused to serve me, ever since.

SFC D

Ya sick bastard! I love it!

NHSparky

Stairway to heaven, highway to hell.

Should tell you expected traffic levels.

Of course, I want Ocasio-Cortez to go back to bartending just so I can order a Bin Laden: two shots and a splash.

The Other Whitey

Any status on the two Thai cops who caught bullets?

OWB

Dang. We’ve all probably questioned a commander’s judgement about something along the line, but this? Complete insanity.

I’m going to go over and review my left of bang Marine hunter course before I go into any large store or shopping mall down here. What are the odds that we will here of a copy cat mall shooting somewhere in the States.

AW1Ed

Malls suck moist ass without mass shootings. Amazon is your friend.

Not sure what kind of hell Buddhists have, but I’m sure it is hot, and the Buddhist Satan has a barbed cock. May his murder of innocents cause him to feel the torment for all eternity.

Southern peninsular Thailand has a very large moslem population (there is a festering mozzie insurgency in that region), and moslems make up about 10 or 15 percent of the total Thai population. Is there any chance that the perp was a born or converted mozzie who conveniently piggy backed jihadi terror on to his personal grudge? These days, you cannot rule anything out…

I spent a lot of time in Thailand while I was stationed in Okinawa. For about 10 months, I was the S.E. Asia exercise planner for III MEF so I spent a lot of time there and working with Thai military. This is very sad – they are generally awesome people. This guy was obviously off. I have suspicions, but it would be premature to speculate.

Say what you want, but pissing off the CSM doesn’t seem like a good idea.
