From the article: The 18-minute video did not provide evidence of training the shooter, but did indicate that Alshamrani and AQAP were in communication, said Rita Katz, director of SITE. It was not clear when the video was recorded.
The video claimed that Alshamrani had been planning for years to attack a U.S. base, and had been training and “selecting” targets.
The video, which was viewed by The Associated Press, provided a will written by Alshamrani to his family in September 2019, three months prior to attack. He said he wanted to attack the U.S., citing religious reasons. However, he made no mention of al-Qaida. – article

The Saudis are NOT our friends. That should have “Bin” obvious on 11 Sep ’01 when “some people, did something.” How many other Americans have “Bin” killed or wounded by Saudis since then. Just saying.
It should also have “Bin” obvious that the vetting of these people can’t be done at their home. If we feel as if we need to “train” them, do it on their turf on equipment that they have bought on fields that they have built, with money that is theirs. We’ve “Bin” training them for DECADES on our dime and none of them, Saudi, Afghan, Iraqi can defend themselves from one another. They do a decent job of taking out the ones that have tried to help them.
It took the US Army from July til November of 1971 to teach me how to be a basic combat infantryman and a cannon cocking gun bunny. I must have been a very bright student.
Is it any happenstance or coincidence that the vast majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis? That and the attack on Pensacola NAS by another Saudi is IMHO more than enough reason to NEVER trust them again.

The Saudis are kind of sucking lately at identifying the Salafi activists that have been infiltrating the Wahhabi movement.
Wahhabism is a nationalist movement that originally did not posses a threat to the West. However since the late 1970s they started importing foriegn intellectuals to be teachers in their educational system, and most of those where Salafis, which is internationalist islam, and by mixing with Wahhabism created the ideology of Al Qaeda.
Very true, they do QUITE a piss-poor job of identifying and dealing with radicals!
WHen I was stationed in Korea (mid 80s), there was a policy in the US military, that one COULD NOT employ ANY Korean in a secret/sensitive position, because it was impossible to verify their background. WHo knows who was an infiltrator from NorKland? WHo had relatives & friends up North, under threat, if the South relatives didn’t provide intel info.
I can see the same with any and all muzzies in the US for military training. With the muzzie (lack of) record keeping, who knows who is related where (blood AND tribal), and who is a direct infiltrator?
Kick ’em all out of any/all US military and Government training/bureaucratic positions. Way past time to clean house.

Once more, I’m an Admin, not a Moderator; I don’t have access to the Ban Hammer. Dave’s Blog, Dave’s rules. I can and do have several options, up to and including deleting comments. While this makes me more on the reactive side, I do monitor the blog for trolls like wingnut, and take action I deem appropriate.
He has been counseled, warned, had his comments edited and finally deleted. He has managed to get on my shitlist, a difficult task but he earned it, which means I delete his comments out of hand.
Certain Admins have asked me to leave him up on their posts so they can deal with him in their own fashion, and of course I respect their wishes.

I’m all for his posts being deleted when they’re little more than trash intended to piss everyone off which is something that I think he enjoys doing and deletion of his crap pisses him off like some punk seeing that his graffiti was removed. IMHO wingnut is just a little trash-talking punk!
