Man Poses as Marine with Multiple Sclerosis to Solicit Donations

| January 10, 2020

The publication DelawareOnline reports that Rodney A. Hearn posed as a Marine veteran in order to ask for donations for his multiple sclerosis.

Police arrested a Seaford man Tuesday, saying he went door-to-door in a Blades neighborhood asking for donations while posing as a veteran.

According to police, Rodney A. Hearn, 44, approached at least five residents, telling them he was a Marine veteran with multiple sclerosis. He asked them for donations for a Valentine’s Day 5k benefiting MS, police said.

Hearn received several donations and gave each donor a handwritten receipt, police said. Four of the residents were older than 62, police said.

Around 5:25 p.m. police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of Meadows Dr. After a trooper made contact with Hearn, who matched police’s description of the suspicious person, a search found Hearn had an active warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police said.

Police arrested Hearn and found a receipt booklet and drug paraphernalia. The money Hearn collected from the residents has been returned, police said.

Hearn was charged with four counts of theft by false pretense where the victim is 62 years or older, five counts of criminal impersonation by pretending to represent some person or organization, theft by false pretense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Love the handwritten receipts – “Ya might wanna hang onto that one.”

    Well, I give him credit.

At least he did not use GoFundMe.

Remember this guy with the homeless “Marine” Johnny Bobbitt?

    https://abcnews.go.com/US/alleged-ringleader-400000-gofundme-scam-hit-federal-indictment/story?id=68169208

“The accused mastermind of an elaborate GoFundMe scam that duped thousands of victims out of more than $400,000 has been hit with a 16-count federal indictment a month after pleading guilty to state charges stemming from the hoax involving his ex-girlfriend and a homeless veteran.”

“A federal indictment unsealed on Wednesday charges Mark D’Amico of New Jersey with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and other charges connected to the 2017 scheme that conned victims into believing the homeless vet, Johnny Bobbitt Jr., gave D’Amico’s then-girlfriend, Katelyn McClure, his last $20 when she ran out of gas on a darkened freeway off-ramp in Philadelphia.”

“If convicted, D’Amico, who has already been sentenced to five years in state prison, could face up to 20 years in federal confinement and a $250,000 fine”:

Giver beware! Welcome to your soon to be Google Fame lying POS Rodney A. Hearn. God may forgive you for your sins, but I won’t. I hope you catch yourself a good case of MS and then are accosted by a squad of Real Marines. May you also rot in hell while Satan devours your worthless soul.

Didn’t watch the linked video. Personally can’t stand Jim Carey and think he is as stupid as the characters he portrays. Never watched more than a blip of whatever he is in.

Remember the con artists that ninja posted above. I don’t contribute to any of the GoFoolMe scams either. Hope all of those dirtbags enjoy their vaycay at the Gray Bar Hilton servicing Bubba, Thor, Julio, Mr. “Tiny”, Strapon Sally, and Muffdive Maggie.

If anyone shows up on my doorstep claiming to be a “veteran” in need I immediately refer him to the VA. That agency has so much funding they pay millions of dollars annually to claimants who never actually served in the military.

    • ninja says:

Unfortunately, the VA also pays Disability to Veterans who “cheat” the system, i.e. claiming POW status, bogus claims on “health” and “mental”issues, etc.etc.

Exactly my friends! Just check out my pos brothers story! What is the quickest way to clear all of their backlog of cases? Why, simple my friends, they just approve everything without verifying anything???

  6. Hack Stone says:

If you want some easy cash, just set up a company claiming that it is owned by a small business woman, create a fictitious female President of the company, then get government contracts to sell them overpriced outdated software. It’s so easy, even a member of The Lucky Sperm Club could do it.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

I thought the LSClub went out of business, Hack Stone.

Did I tell you that I can now get an authentic Philly cheese steak sandwich within 10 miles of my house, at Sammy’s Roadside Diner? If not, well – I can, so I won’t bring up cheesesteaks sandwiches again.

      • Hack Stone says:

Well, that proud but humble woman owned business that sells (sold?) software to the federal government has a few lawsuits to settle some unpaid debts. If he can’t even afford a door for his mailbox, what makes some company think that he can pay them anything? Once Elaine Ricci completes her treatment at the Rehab Center to beat that placebo addiction, she will be back in the President’s seat and turn things around.
