Cable News Network Settles Lawsuit with Sandmann Family

The legal teams for CNN and the Sandmann family have settled on a lawsuit initiated due to the media attacks on Nick Sandmann. They accused him of being racist and aggressive towards others. Others, besides CNN, have also become subject to possible lawsuits.

From The Washington Times:

Attorneys for the Sandmann family accused the network of “bullying” the Covington Catholic High School student, who wore a red Make America Great Again ball cap, to push a political agenda, which CNN has denied.

Contrary to its ‘Facts First’ public relations ploy, CNN ignored the facts and put its anti-Trump agenda first in waging a 7-day media campaign of false, vicious attacks against Nicholas, a young boy who was guilty of little more than wearing a souvenir Make America Great Again cap,” said the 58-page lawsuit filed in May.

The Sandmanns, who are represented by attorneys L. Lin Wood and Todd V. McMurtry, sued the Post for $250 million and NBCUniversal for $275 million.

Washington Times has an article here. The Daily Wire provides a list of organizations and individuals who were notified to preserve evidence for possible lawsuits. They include The Washington Post, The New York Times, Bill Maher, Kathy Griffin, and Elizabeth Warren. The Daily Wire provides additional information. Here’s a Fox News article on the same topic.

Well I think he will have pocket change in college for snakes and stuff.

Who’s got the punchable face now, CNN?!
It’s always been you CNN, it’s ALL-WAYS been you.

GDContractor

Typo in the headline. It’s “Sandmann”.

The suit against Elizabeth Warren was dismissed, as she benefits from “sovereign immunity” as a result of being an elected representative.

GDC, would this be what is referred to as “Democrat Immunity?” ie the political equal to “Diplomatic Immunity?”

Skippy

Exactly ^^^^

GDContractor

Personally, I’m fine with it. Trump benefits from it as well, as do all of our conservative Representatives (if you can find one).

Fake Indian Privilege?

Good for him. Normally I don’t root for the lawers, but in these cases I hope they nail the other suits for a rather spendy amount too. Wonder if Skanky Kathy’s new husband to be had a pre-nup excluding him from any pending lawsuits?

Whatever the amounts were/will be, it is a drop in the bucket for their bottom line. And the corporation are insured for this crap. This lawsuit will not change anything about them or their business model.

USMC Steve

Oh, holy hell, who would bang that nasty thing?

5th/77th FA

Long time BF (2011) named Randy Bick(?) did it on New Years Days. (Googled that just now) Homeboy must be related to our own beloved IDC SARC (#I’dhitit) or little Mikey (#he’lleatanything) Lily Tomlin did the ceremony.

Sure glad I’m watching at a JAG Episode with MAJ Mac wearing a low cut, leg slit evening gown. That vision is better than brain/eye bleach.

Met her once (Catherine Bell) at Long Beach – even in a firesuit and with helmet hair she was lovely, friendly and a joy. Flavor of the week Cameron Diaz was also thee – drove poorly, had her nose so elevated she couldn’t see. Been a fan of Bell’s ever since.

Unfortunately, lawers are a necessary evil. I only have one as a friend, and he was never a real litigator, even though I worked with them daily for over 35 years.

I rather enjoyed reading this headline yesterday, it made me smile to no end.

The recent nonsense about how horrific it is to pick on child while referencing Ms. Thunberg’s climate change activism display quite publicly the hypocrisy of those making those comments as they were all quick to label the young man a racist without a shred of evidence and, as we all learned within hours, in spite of the actual evidence.

Black Israelites are lunatics, they’ve displayed that many times wherever they appear. And the dipshit “elder” with the drum was never trying to make peace.

The entire narrative was bullshit. They didn’t like the kid because of the hat and the fact he had dared to come to DC to protest against abortion.

I don’t care where you do or don’t stand on abortion, but everyone is allowed to peacefully address their grievances to their government regardless of how any individual feels about those particular grievances.

In our current society the pressure to be “right” or to win on every issue fails to address the reality of life in a diverse society. The left especially wants to make sure you know how smart they are and how morally superior they are compared to those of us lowlifes who only want to be left alone to enjoy our persons and our property as was intended under the founders vision of a free society.

I doubt this will change very much at CNN, but one hopes it at least sends a message that outright lies and false reporting that damages a private person carries a significant cost. If that forces CNN et al to finally start checking actual facts before running off at the mouth for ratings in the 24 hour news cycle I’ll count that as a minor victory.

Poetrooper

The ultimate and most despicable Democrat hypocrisy is their piously intoned “For the good of the children.”

As this case so clearly demonstrates, that concern only extends to children who demonstrate leftist beliefs. Conservative children are fair game inhabiting media free-fire zones.

A Proud Infidel®™️

IMHO the “Black Israelites” are about as respectable as the inbred litigious lunatics from the Westboro Baptist Church and obviously employ the same MO, screech, do all they can to piss everyone off and then play the Acme® Victim Card®™️ as soon as they get a reaction, fuckin’ scum of the Earth!

How much did Nathan Phillips get for his part?

SFC D

Mr. Phillips is very lucky that young Mr. Sandmann was raised to respect his “elders”. If any adult make ever deserved a throat punch, it’s Nathan Phillips. I would not have been so respectful as a young man. I still wouldn’t.

USMC Steve

Roger that. Had he run up on me like that, he would have been beaten within an inch of his useless fraudulent life.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

C’mon now, he clearly stated he was banging that drum in the kid’s face to facilitate a peaceful solution. Everyone knows when there’s chaos and confrontation that beating a drum in someone’s grill is the sounds of peace…

SFC D

It would have taken an entire platoon of doctors to remove that drum from his ass.

Skippy

I call this the Jewell effect
And the media still hasn’t learn anything

UpNorth

So true, Skippy.

USMC Steve

I am sorry to see him settle. I would have loved to see him shove it up their asses, collect the full amount, and continue to march with the rest of them. These liberal cocksuckers will learn nothing from this, as there is no real accountability from anyone. Some folks needed to lose jobs and stuff.

26Limabeans

Here is a great article about the settlement
and what the lawyers will do with their cut:

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2020/01/sandmann-settles-with-cnn.php

UpNorth

The thing I disagree with in the article is the “Now Sandmann’s lawyers can use CNN’s contribution, likely in the mid six figures”. I figure it had to be 7 figures, just to make the point to CNN. Hell, maybe it was 8 figures. Unless they’re saying that the lawyers got 6 figures in lawyer’s fees, in addition to Sandmann’s settlement.

rgr769

The settlement amount had to be enough to pay the lawers several hundreds of thousands.

FuzeVT

I think I would retain college money and a shit-ton of beer funding then I would give a crap-load of money to charitable causes that would drive CNN crazy. Things like:
►organizations against abortion
►NRA
►Trump campaign
►valorgaurdians.com
etc. . .
It would be pretty fun to make them report that.

The Other Whitey

I had a kid on my crew once who had that exact same expression displayed by young Nick Sandmann. It’s a nervous smile. It’s the expression of a kid who’s nervous and just wants everything to calm down. Far from a “punchable face,” it’s the look of a kid who doesn’t understand why somebody is in his face, figures he’s in over his head, and doesn’t want to escalate things. It’s generally a pretty good indicator that he’s a nice kid, as opposed to a punk looking for a fight.

As for Phillips…I had another kid on my crew around the same time. Also a good kid, Indian from one of the local reservations. We once ran a medical aid on the res for a drunk asshole who, in the course of making a complete ass of himself, declared that he was a “tribal elder.” My Firefighter’s response to that was, “Just because you’re an old piece of shit, don’t make you an elder!”

Cameron Kingsley

On that last one with the Native American: all I can say is ouch. Good for him on putting the moron in his place and giving it to him straight up without hesitating. That honestly had me giggling. I can only guess what the look on the drunken idiot’s face was. He’s probably an embarrassment to the reservation. Well, I guess every village has to have its idiot (or idiots).
