| December 13, 2019

Trump will be at the Army-Navy game. From traffic to special events, here’s what you need to know.

By Joseph A. Gambardello, Nick Vadala, The Philadelphia Inquirer
Helicopters flying over South Philadelphia Friday morning in a practice run were just another reminder that the Army-Navy game is in town. For a second year in a row, President Donald Trump is slated to attend. Here’s what you need to know, whether you are attending Saturday’s game or not. Game time at Lincoln Financial Field is 3 p.m.

The forecast calls for rain and a high temperature in the mid-50s, so rain gear will be needed. Note: Umbrellas are not permitted at the Linc. A clear-backpack policy also is in place at the stadium.

Expect heavy traffic in the stadium area before and after the game.

Information about the timing of President Trump’s arrival and departure has not been made public, but motorists should expect I-95 and surrounding roadways to be closed when the motorcade is on the move.

How to watch

CBS will have a live television broadcast of Saturday’s Army-Navy game starting at 3 p.m. An online live stream of the game will also be available for free via the CBS Sports website, and on the CBS Sports app, the network has indicated.

Pre-game events

Gates open at 11 a.m.

The March On of Cadets is set for 11:55 a.m.

Around 3 p.m., there will be flyovers by a formation of Navy jets and six Army AH-64 Apache helicopters.

Tomorrow is settling day for us, I’ll settle into a glorious bourbon stupor, and you’ll be crying into your beer.
          Go Army.

    • HT3 '83-'87 says:

Good thing you went into the service instead of trying to earn a living as a bookie. At 1234, the Vegas line has Army +11.5 which means they are the UNDERDOG…but if you’re taking action that is Navy +10.5 put me down for a c-note.

      • Roh-Dog says:

        I dont gamble*

*but I do the stocks, Fed policy is easier to understand…

        • HT3 '83-'87 says:

No problem…it was like shooting fish in a barrel today. That kid Perry is something special…when its all said in done, we’re all on the same team…Team America.

    • USAFRetired says:

Its an old artillery song. I thought the words were…

Was it high? Was it low? Where the hell did that one go? As the caissons go rolling along.

  4. Skippy says:

    Army all the way

  5. OldSoldier54 says:

Army’s got a ways to go to make up for the … what was it, thirteen consecutive wins? … by the squids.

    Anyway, GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!!

    • Devtun says:

More like 14. Army had a 49-42-7 edge back in 2002…then the bottom dropped out. With the Army’s current 3 game winning streak, Navy now holds the advantage at 56-52-7.

  6. BlueCord Dad says:

No NFL contract( well maybe a couple), just the right to sing second.
Dad served in the Navy but son is in the Army.
    No contest

  7. Club Manager, USA ret says:

Navy football players can’t wait to get their grades so they know what courses they took.
WAR STORY ALERT: There used to be a Turkey Bowl in Republic de Panama between the Air Force and Army. The Air Force used to send ringers TDY to Panama to coach their team. The downtown stadium was packed full every year. Our clubs made a bundle feeding and hydrating the crowd. One year the halftime show included helicopters in a simulated strafing run. Something hot bounced into the stands, probably Willie Pete, and set the Ambassador’s dress on fire. Be neat if they could match that feat at the Army/Navy Game. GO ARMY!!

  8. Lurker Curt says:

GO ARMY!!! The doggos and I will be posted well ahead of time. They don’t give a damn who wins, but they get awfully bouncy when I make happy noises.

Happy weekend, fellow ‘Weeds and ‘Weedettes!

  11. Slow Joe says:

I don’t like the idea of having the Prez at a known place at a known time. That movie, “The Sum of All Fears”, still gives me nightmares, and it is not because of Ben Affleck and the change from Muslim terrorists to Alt-Right.

  12. Messkit says:

At :24, the helo is British Army. At 1:19, is no doubt a Japanese sub hunter.

I mean, if you have to fill your Navy video with foreign vehicles and forces just to make it look good…

    ………….go army
    ………….beat navy

  25. 26Limabeans says:

It was a close game from the start…

  26. OWB says:

    Was there a game?????

(OK, yes, I know there was, but I am still gloating over a win my alma mater had over one of those academy teams a few weeks ago. Almost made me giggle.)

  27. 3/10/MED/b says:

I found it astounding how the future officers of the greatest military in the world were tattooed on their forearms and with hair definitely beyond regulations.
Not to mention the futures screaming into the cameras and tossing their headgear without regard.
This was only after watching for 10 minutes, and that was not during even the game.
    Roger Staubach, where are you?
