Racist to Mention Illegal Alien Problems in Alexandria Cortez’s District

This is what Alexandria Ocasio Cortez implied with her statement against Fox News and Tucker Carlson. Cortez is one of the advocates for the Green New Deal. After all, she cares about the environment.
A guest appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show and mentioned the fact that her district is loaded with improperly discarded garbage.
Among the reasons mentioned was the number of illegal aliens in her district. Seth Barron, who was a guest on Tucker Carlson’s show, argued that there were relatively few actual American citizens there. Most of the residents were illegal aliens living in illegal places. He pointed out how people were violating sanitation and environmental regulations.
Granted, these are local issues that require local government action. There may be some state violations as well. However, Cortez could leverage her status via social media or information campaign to help bring attention to these issues.

Barron’s claims, which were widely condemned as racist, reflect Carlson’s own rhetoric, which has long focused on what he says is destruction to the US caused by immigrants living in the country illegally and others.
The 30-year-old congresswoman said she has considered appearing on Fox but hasn’t because of the “unmitigated racism” some of the network’s hosts promote “without any accountability.”
“I go back and forth on whether to go on Fox News,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “The main reason I haven’t is squaring the fact that the ad revenue from it bankrolls a white supremacist sympathizer to broadcast an hour-long production of unmitigated racism, without any accountability whatsoever.”
Seth Barron has firsthand observations of what he described in Alexandria Cortez’s district. For someone that “cares” about the environment, Cortez could at least be appreciative of the fact that someone brought media attention to this issue. But, with many on the left, inconvenient facts can earn you the racist, bigoted, misogynist, etc., label.

It’s like exaggerating the pervasiveness of PTSD in veterans; we can tackle the problems better when we do it without unnecessary exaggeration and fear.
Lets hear an actual census before we decide if it;s an exaggeration…Considering some of the neighborhoods I’ve seen in NYC, the claim is at least plausible..
Updated census data would be great, but there are plenty of estimates already – and that math doesn’t bear out the notion that the majority of the residents in the 14th are illegal immigrants. Unless you’re telling me that fully 1/3rd of the illegal immigrants in the NYC/Neward/Jersey City area live in the 14th? A district that has twice the median income of the 15th?
I’m sure there’s a fair number, and I’d like to get an accurate number, too – but it’s very unlikely that the majority of her residents are illegal. If you want to see some math, I can give you some.
I’m against illegal immigration, too. I just prefer realistic numbers over rhetoric and exaggeration, that’s all.
I was watching when Barron made that claim last night and said to Miz Poe, “That’s a gross exaggeration and Tucker should call him on it.”
I’m with you on this one, LC. It doesn’t help our arguments when we sensationalize, and it bothers me that this seems to be a growing trend on conservative websites, using hyped up headlines for click bait.
As conservatives, We have plenty of facts to support our beliefs and do not need to resort to hyperbole.
Fair enough to both of you. I honestly have no idea what the makeup of the district is, and I agree 100% with your last comment LC, I too prefer realistic numbers over rhetoric and exaggeration.
Estimates are garbage at this point. In both graduate and doctoral level research classes, they talk about how statistical estimates are arrived at. In order to come up with these estimates, assumptions have to be made. These assumptions are inputted into their calculations. The further these assumptions are from reality, the more erroneous the estimate.
To add damage to injury, even the best estimates about the illegal alien population have to be taken with a grain of salt… And seasoning… And steak sauce… Figuring out just how many illegal aliens there are in this country is difficult. The best that they could come up with falls short of how many illegals there truly are in this country, or in anyone’s local.
Even if, for the sake of the argument, nobody in Cortez’s district is an illegal alien, this doesn’t dismiss the fact that someone made an observation of the demographics in her district as well as on what they did with regards to policing their own trash and litter. He has also made observations of their habits.
Illegal or legal residents, trash and litter spread in her district, followed by the lack of a robust social media push on Cortez’s part, point her out to be a hypocrite. Willing to stand up and be a social justice warrior… If big daddy government forces people to take a course of action without a requirement on her part that provides substantive results… And if other people bear the burden of actually walking the walk with regards to caring for the environment.
Which brings us back to her pulling the race card in response to a valid argument.
No, she disagreed with his pointing out her hypocrisy. She’s one of the people pushing for environmental initiatives. One of the most commonly known is the Green New Deal. One counter-argument to the left arguing to “fight climate change” via addressing environmental issues, is by pointing out the immediate state of the environment that they represent.
Instead of addressing that inconsistency, they pull one card or another. In this case, the “racist” card. Even if he were to just mention, “Many of the residents, who come from third world countries, are littering up the place as if they apparently did in their home countries,” Cortez would’ve still accused him of racism.
One key difference with this comparison is that the guy in the link above was talking about his observations and what he saw. He may have assumed that most of them are illegals. Perhaps most of them are first-generation immigrants who behave the way they behave in the third world countries they came from. Maybe there were no illegal aliens and they were all first-generation immigrants, and a good portion of the later was littering up the environment. Even if he were wrong about them being mostly illegal, his point would still be valid.
I’ve been to many third world countries and have seen exactly what he was talking about with how people treat their environment in those countries.
The main theme is still the same… For someone that cares so much about the environment (fighting climate change by addressing environmental abuses), she sure as f(beep) is not walking the walk with that concern.
You’re missing one thing, thebesig: AOC doesn’t really give a crap about the environment. If she did, the multi-trillion dollar costs she quoted could certainly have been reduce to something less abrasive. She’s only in this business to get her hands on cash, nothing else, and that’s your cash and mine.
Always follow the money. Always. The entire business of climate change is a hoax aimed at emptying your pockets and mine, at present through the IPCC’s demand for cash (which Obama gave them without even batting an eye), but the US agreement was not ratified by the Senate because he never presented it to the Senate and it is non-binding, therefore invalid. And Trump has not given them a cent this time.
AOC is ONLY in this for the cash she can acquire. Always follow the money.

In short, she doesn’t really care about the environment, just towing the Democratic Party line and pushing green cliches. As for getting her hands on our money, that’s the majority, possibly all, of those in Congress. They have to bribe each other with taxpayer money to get “cooperation” and “bipartisanship”.
I find it difficult to believe that ANYBODY takes Ocasio-Cortez seriously. What a complete flake.

The one glaringly apparent fact is that AOC’s district is a shithole. The citizenship of her constituents is irrelevant. What they truly are is a group of people that give not a single fuck about their neighborhood and will not lift a finger to improve it, it’s easier to just elect AOC as your sugar mama, sit back, and collect your free shit. Socialism on display. She didn’t create it, but she’s damn sure feeding it.

I’ve been living in Los Angeles for decades, a city which everyone knows has one of the largest (if not THE largest) problems with homeless people. We also have one of the largest (if not THE largest) population of illegal immigrants.
Based upon my personal observations (not quoting any statistics or news reports here), the large majority of homeless people in this city are Americans, and they are either Caucasian (white people) or (black) African Americans. I have yet to see a Mexican or Central American begging for handouts at freeway offramps, or sleeping on sidewalks. These beggars we see on the streets in L.A. are either black or white, and they speak unaccented American English; in other words, they were born and raised in the USA, and they are most likely American citizens.
So where are the Mexicans and Central Americans (either illegal or with Green Cards)? They’re standing out in front of Home Depot or Lowe’s, looking for work, ready to do any kind of shitty,back-breaking manual labor to earn a buck. Also, I have never seen a person of Asian descent (and we have lots of those too) soliciting for handouts or sleeping on sidewalks.
And since this is a site for veterans, let me mention that I’ve also seen quite a few shabby-looking guys soliciting in front of grocery stores, holding up a sign (and oftentimes, an American flag) which reads “Veteran” or “Vietnam Veteran.” I’ve never gotten a valid answer when I’ve asked these guys which unit they served with. And every one of them (whom I’ve ever interacted with) speaks with unaccented American English.
Well, then you need to make a trip o LA. My experience in downtown LA was about eighteen years ago, but over 90% of the street dwelling homeless were Hispanic looking. Some had set up large cardboard boxes on the sidewalk as their living quarters. There were blocks of them down near the fashion district. Some even had children with them.
Even “eighteen years ago,” the homeless folks on the streets in Downtown L.A. were mostly African American and Caucasian. They still are. They’re the ones who are sleeping in cardboard boxes, and they speak un-accented American English. You won’t find any Arabs, Asians, Africans, or Eastern Europeans, etc. among them. Just Americans of various colors who have substance abuse issues, or mental health issues, or who are just too lazy to do an honest day’s work.
Sure, there’s plenty of “Hispanic looking” folks walking around in Downtown L.A. too, but they’re not the ones sleeping on the sidewalks. The illegals here tend to find cheap apartments or houses to rent, or motel rooms, where they bunch up at night, ten to a room. And during the day they’re out looking for whatever work they can scrounge up.
I’ve spent lots of time in New York City as well (and in AOC’s Congressional district), and the situation there is not all that different. It used to be much worse, until Mayor Giuliani cleaned up Times Square and pushed most of the homeless bums into the outer boroughs.

A simple Google search will show that homeless crime (both victims and perpetrators) involving all races/ethnicities.

You searched high & low on Google for an article that would contradict my “bullshit generalities,” didn’t you? But that article doesn’t say any of these folks were “illegals,” and the victim is Vietnamese (based on the name), which is an anomaly as far as the local homeless population out here is concerned. Among the perps, there was only one name that was Hispanic, and no indication that this person was an “illegal.”
I’m not basing my opinion on Google searches, but on personal observations and articles that appear on a daily basis in the local Los Angeles Times newspaper.
Other than the MS-13 gang, most of the folks deemed to be here illegally try to stay low key and incognito, and are looking for whatever work they can scrounge up. The bums sleeping on sidewalks in Downtown L.A., Hollywood, and lately in the San Fernando Valley are, for the large part, Americans, who either have drug problems, mental issues, or are too lazy to work.
