Red Light Runner Gets Broadsided, Pedestrians Spared Impact
Quick thinking or being at the right place at the wrong time? Shannon Vivar is being hailed as a hero, as an angel, for saving pedestrians from serious injury… Perhaps saving their lives.
A red-light runner plowed into the intersection and looked like he was going to hit a couple pushing a stroller. The red light runner gets broadsided and his movement ends.
This appears to be a case where traffic going from the screen’s left to right have the green light. Vehicles driving from the screen’s bottom have the red light.
Shannon drives from the screen’s left into the intersection. A vehicle transits from the screen’s bottom into the intersection. It ends up in front of Shannon’s vehicle.
The collision occurs. The couple pushing the stroller appeared to be originally bidding their time. They had traffic driving in front of them. They appeared to be right in the red light runner’s path.

The footage shows a couple pushing a stroller through a crosswalk at a red light. A Jeep then runs the light and comes barreling through the intersection, freezing the family in place. At the same time, a Chevy Cruz driven by Vivar enters the intersection and slams into the side of the Jeep just feet before it’s set to strike the family.
Police arrested the Jeep’s 23-year-old driver, Ernesto Oveso, after a brief chase but a female passenger managed to evade capture.
“I don’t want to label myself a hero,” Vivar told KNXV-TV. “But I just see that maybe that’s just how things were supposed to be.”
However, executives with used car retailer Carvana didn’t hesitate to call Vivar a hero and presented her with a 2018 Chevy Cruz to replace the one damaged in the crash.

Whether you believe in Angels or not, there was for sure one with its’ wings wrapped around that Family. I had seen this video before and it triggered some very close calls I have had in my nearly 6 decades and millions of miles of driving. Many of us professional drivers either know and/or trained to do the off gas/over brake foot thing as we approach an intersection. I prolly wouldn’t have been able to be the “hero” for that family. Good chance I would have been stopped by the time the dirtbag running the light hit that family.
That family is either very lucky or very blessed, depending on your outlook. I think they are blessed. Your traffic situational awareness should be as high when you a pedestrian as it is when you are driving.
And at the risk of being accused of kissing butt, I must agree with ninja and Ex; The Power of a Woman is awesome. And at the risk of being an echo chamber for my man T’Stixx, I’m stopping there.

With a lifetime of driving in every major city in the US, a half a lifetime on a Harley and assorted stupid people tricks I have gotten my money’s worth out of this poor Angel.
I’m gonna spend a couple of eons in purgatory praying for the Angel that is out drinking on my prayers, and well deserved drinking at that !!!

Oveso [the drunk driver] was caught and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of a collision, and prohibited possession of a gun.
So in other words, all around d-bag. Only way this could have gone better would be if he lingered in pain for several days in a hospital before quietly expiring from his injuries and saving the taxpayers from having to house and prosecute him.
I see a Presidential Medal of Freedom in this lady’s future. Wow, that video gave me goose bumps.
