Those 2nd Amendment sanctuary thingies keep popping up these days, kind of like popcorn plants after a good rain.

For starters, in Nevada: The Sheriff of Humboldt County is – well, miffed, that the locals don’t understand him and his job.

From the article:  Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Allen’s decision to enforce new red flag laws — which allow for temporary confiscation of guns for people a judge deems “at risk” — has spurred a campaign to have him recalled.

Dawn Principe, owner of Sage Hill Arms gun store in Winnemucca and member of the 1,600-member Facebook group behind the recall campaign, said members plan to file a notice of intent with the county on Thursday to recall the sheriff on the grounds he is not “standing up” for their rights. According to the county clerk, the group will have 90 days from when it files to collect 502 signatures and, if successful, proceed with a recall committee.

“They’re taking up a fight against me on something the Legislature has to do, and they think I have the authority not to follow the law,” Allen said in an interview Wednesday with The Nevada Independent. “I do oppose this law. However, it’s my not my job to oppose a law; my job is to enforce the law.” – article.

Moving on: the good people of Washington State are also up in arms over a specific gun control act which involves self defense, and are trying to get it repealed.

From the article: I-1639 has already resulted in one federal lawsuit by the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association, one declared candidacy for governor by a small town police chief, refusal by sheriffs in a majority of the state’s 39 counties to enforce provisions of the measure, and the creation of a new crime, “Community Endangerment.” This carries either gross misdemeanor or Class C felony penalties, depending upon the violation.

And finally, if you remember that business last year in Parkland HS, which some snarky wanker tried to take advantage of, what they’re really after is repealing the 2nd Amendment without following the procedure to do so. Unfortunately, they don’t understand two things: repealing a federal law isn’t done with the snap of your fingers, and Prohibition did not work. In fact, it raised the rates of crime and alcoholism. And I do not understand why these people want to be sitting ducks.

From the article:  March for Our Lives, the gun-control group founded after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., has issued what it has termed a “peace plan.” A better description might be, “A Comprehensive Plan to Abolish the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.” At its core, the program seeks to transmute gun ownership from a liberty that can be asserted against the government into a privilege that Americans can enjoy only with the permission of the state. Or, to put it another way, the program aims to repeal the Second Amendment without going through all that unpleasant “written-amendment” stuff.

That’s not hyperbole. By its own admission, March for Our Lives wants to “reexamine the District of Columbia v. Heller interpretation of the Second Amendment,” which, in practice, would mean asking the U.S. Supreme Court to revise the Second Amendment’s obvious meaning so that “the right of the people” does not mean “the right of the people” anymore. Worse still, the group is demanding that “the next generation of federal judges” must act not as impartial arbiters of the law, but as “champions of gun violence prevention.” – article

I repeat what I’ve said before: Just because you have the right to do something, it does not mean you are required to do it.  These people must have missed that part. They also must want to be targets.
