Police say a retired law enforcement officer acted in self-defense when he shot a North Bellmore man who was beating him over the head with a metal flashlight.
The road rage incident took place just after 11 p.m. Tuesday on Bellmore Road near Magnolia Road.
Police say 47-year-old Michael Bua cut off a 62-year-old retired police officer, prompting the drivers to get out of their cars and start arguing. Police say Bua then started hitting the retired officer in the head with the flashlight. – article

O’rourke’s statistic of 40,000 people dying by gunshot per year is not documented or referenced with a source, and contradicts the CDC’s assessment of 15,000 per year, which I covered in an article on this very subject last week. What is even more amazing about the Beto’s comments is that he thinks laws a written to not prevent criminals from doing things, but to simply take liberties from citizens. He makes no attempt to say how he hopes to make citizens safer by passing these laws, he simply does not want lawfully armed citizens!
He has no plan on how to fight crime, or reduce the hate that is currently running rampant. The rest of the article is amazing how their statistics can say the gun ban actually did anything. Murders actually went up in the 1994-2004 timeframe, not down. Then they point to an increase which occurred almost ten years later as evidence that reinstating it was wrong. They claim gun manufactures had weak sales on pistols, so they went to “assault rifles”, when in fact it was a huge demand from veterans wanting to buy rifles they had used in their service!
How do we elect idiots like this to office to make our laws?!

When he was campaigning, he went to Las Vegas and the TV cameras were on him constantly. Once he got on the stage and had the microphone, he was like a televangelist bringing in the crowd.
Now, we all know he could hardly speak extemporaneously, off-the-cuff. He stammered and flustered his way through any unrehearsed TV appearance. But his speechifying at that Las Vegas campaign appearance was completely different and was obviously memorized and rehearsed and he was fully prepared to deliver it. He had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. But there was no Q & A session afterwards.
The contrast was noticeable.

Does an AR-180 fall into this confiscation? I owned one many years ago along with an H&K 91, H&K 93, Swiss SIG 154 If I remember correctly, Valmet AK, Spanish Cetme and a scary looking AR-15. Sold everything. Had a chance to buy a Johnson but didn’t and turned down a free M-1 Garand from a friend who rebuilt them. Turned down an Australian 9MM sub gun from my former Doctor whom bought it at a Lionel Train shop with the front of the muzzle plugged up. This plugging was done before the De Militarizing came about.

Ex, Beto is misquoting quoting the usual ‘40,000 gun deaths a year’ cliche.In 2017 the actual number (which has risen a bit for the last few years) was 39,773 so the 40K number is legit. HOWEVER: of that 40K, over 60% (23, 864) were suicides. How many were murders? 14,542 (the balance are things like unintentional, law enforcement, etc. deaths. The peak in murders was all the way back in 1993 at 18,253.
Now adjust by population: in 1974 the rate of murders was 7.2 per 100,000 population. 2017 is was 4.2 per 100,000… pushing hard towards HALF.
Oh, and non-gun murders (beatings, blunt objects, knives, etc.) occurred at 5 times the rate of ALL rifle murders combined, much less “assault weapons”. Less than 400 rifle deaths a year in a population pushing 330,000,000. You do the math and tell me how much of a ‘terrifying problem’ they really are.
