Weekend Open Thread: You Want Gun Pr0n? I Got Yer Gun Pr0n Right Here!
So, a 5.56x45mm or 9mm isn’t enough gun for you? You’re not sure if a .45ACP or a .357 Magnum will do the trick? Does a .308 or .30-06 make you say, “Meh”? Do you lust after the .50 S&W, or daydream about big-bore elephant guns of yesteryear?
Well, then this is the gun for you:
And here’s a photo of that rifle’s cartridge (far right below) – with a few others included for comparison:
No, those are not Photoshopped images. That’s an actual rifle, and an an actual cartridge – the .950 JDJ.
Yes, that “.950” means exactly what you think it means. The barrel of the above rifle has a groove diameter of 0.950 inches.
It was developed by J. D. Jones of SSK Industries. The cartridge was based on a 20mm cannon round (the 20x110mm Hispano); the case was shortened to 70mm, then necked UP from 20mm to accept a .950” diameter bullet. It’s commonly referred to as “Fat Mac”.
The rifle and cartridge were formerly produced by SSK Industries. Three rifles were made; production of the ammunition ceased a few years ago. When in production, the rounds cost around $40 – each.
Yeah, both are freakin’ huge quite large – and yeah, that’s a bench-rest stock on the rifle. There’s a good reason for that.
It’s a bench-rest stock because the rifle’s muzzle brake alone weighs roughly 18 lbs; various accounts give the rifle’s total weight at somewhere between 60 and 110 lbs, depending on the precise configuration.
From Wikipedia, here are the ballistic characterists of the round when fired from the above rifle (barrel length not given):
Bullet Weight: 3,600 grains (!)
Muzzle Velocity: 2,200 ft/sec
Muzzle Energy: 38,685 ft-lbs
Those numbers aren’t misprints. The bullet indeed weighs 3,600 grains, not 360 – and at 7,000 grains per pound, that’s a bullet weight of over half a pound (nearly 8 ¼ ounces). The muzzle energy approaches 3x that of a .50 BMG round. In fact, the muzzle energy is over 1,000 ft-lbs greater than the kinetic energy of a 2,800 lb car moving at a speed of 20 MPH.
Believe it or not, apparently it’s actually legal to own in most states without going through the BATFE’s “destructive device” rigamarole. It seems SSK sought – and received – a “sporting use exception” for the cartridge and rifle during development.
Video of “Fat Mac” being fired – along with other big-bore rifles – can be found here. Fat Mac’s firing is near the end, starting at around 13:20. One note: whoever prepared the Fat Mac ballistic “storyboard” that pops up at 13:21 screwed up; the Fat Mac’s muzzle energy is NOT the stated 8,900 ft-lbs – it’s 38,685 ft-lbs. (8,900 ft-lbs is the muzzle energy of the .700 Nitro Express, which they fired earlier in the video; my guess is that someone forgot to update that number when they prepared the storyboard for the .950 JDJ. They did get the metric equivalent muzzle energy for the .950 JDJ correct at 52,450 J, though.)
So, there ya go. Gun pr0n aficionados, enjoy. Just don’t blame me if you drool all over your keyboard or smart phone and it doesn’t work so well afterwards. (smile)
And, for the record: I have absolutely no desire to fire one of these (though accounts say the recoil is actually much less than expected). I’m no masochist, and I’d also prefer my retinas stay firmly attached to the rear of my eyeballs.
But if someone else is a damn fool a highly adventurous soul and wants to try, I’ll be happy to watch them from a safe distance – and call 911 if necessary afterwards. (smile)
. . .
OK, time for the WOT. Enjoy the thread and the weekend, everyone.
And hey: be careful out there.

Author’s Note: in case anyone reading this article missed it: yeah, I was using the term “gun pr0n” in the article’s title for humorous effect. So if you’re reading this and are among those of the liberal/gun-grabbing political bent . . . try not to get your manties/panties in a wad, OK?

Congrats again my friend! May you rein over us for another week! I’m going to go out and shoot my new Winchester Model 94 30/30! I have always wanted one of those!!!
That’s a fun gun to run, WW. Enjoy!
A great gun. I have my Grandma’s from 1925.
Kinda fitting that 5th/77th gets the foistness of the WOT on a post about a .950 JDJ
Build it back up, brother! That five-peat is still a real possibility!!
2nd?
Well would you just lookie here. Damned if the ol King Of Battle just walked in from the supply run, turned on the ‘putor and low and behold the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread staring at him orphaned. FIRST BITCHES…Again!
Hot wings and frosty adult beverages all around! My treat!!!!!!!!!
They were all busy over on the post about the panic attack over having to eat babies, 5th/77th.
Glad you’ve regained your throne.
Tanks Mi’Lady and Many Tanks to my most loyal miscreanted DW/detts. I will be that highly adventurous soul and fire that big dog. After I mount it on a carriage and attach a lanyard…A LONG lanyard. My left shoulder is already needing some rotator cuff carving on, I damn shore don’t want the right one to get ripped out of the socket. That’s why I had to leave out FIRST thing this morning, a visit with the ortho people for an MRI on it. Had a lady friend drive me the 35 miles to the doc, then another 20 miles to my pill pusher and another 30 miles back here to Firebase Magnolia. Stopped at the Big K Roger for provisions and some Class VI supplies. Brought in the cooler that had my meats, cheeses, and produce inside, put them in the frigidare, opened up the chromie and whump…there it was. Like I commented above, I had no clue that the FIRST would fall my way. It was just meant to be a blessing for me. This surgery will be done right soon, I guess, and my left wing will be out of commision for awhile. It may a be a good long while before I can really shoot for the ever so elusive Ace 5 in a row. The last Friday/weekend of the month I’m scheduled to be giving some history lessons on ‘Cump’s stroll to the ocean, another the 3rd weekend of Nov, with accompanying Memorial Service for the Battle of Griswoldville, and then be down with the chill’rens over Thanksgiving.
I am so Blessed to have the folks of TAH to help me keep my grasp on some semblance of sanity…. Scary thought, ain’t it?
5th/77 FA;
Lotsa luck on your upcoming surgery. I messed up my Rotator cuff back in 1970 working on a friends ceiling up in Saugerties NY and lived with it up until 2016. I got my first cortisone shot in 2016 and felt great until myself and my sister were leaving Walmart and thinking that my Springfield XDSC .40 was printing a little too much towards the front of my tee shirt, I tried pulling the holster back until I heard a popping noise. Turns out I Lost the long head of my bicep muscle and tore the rotator cuff big time which needed surgery. Doc was unable to re attach the long head though. A lot of Physical therapy and I’m good as almost new in that I cannot lift heavy items a certain way. I should have been working out in our club house but got a little lazy. Was going to continue but we lost our club house back in Dec 14, 2018. Again, Good luck on your surgery.
Prayers for a successful surgery and rapid and complete recovery.
There is a possibility that I may have to do something like that in the future – but I’m trying my darndest to not injure it so that it becomes a requirement.
Gettin’ old ain’t for sissies.
To the King of Battle:
Lifting you up in prayers for your upcoming surgery as well a SPEEDY recovery.
We know you will do well!
Thank You for letting us know.
PRAYERS OUT for you 5th/77th FA. As a former 13F I wish you complete and total success along with a speedy and successful recovery!!!
Thanks guys, I am honored and humbled by these comments. I thought I had dodged this particular lineman’s ailment but now we know I didn’t. 20 years of hooking poles, using chain hoists, dragging cables thru the woods, conduit runs ect did catch up. They have drug it out for awhile with the whole therapy and cortisone shots and it’s no better. Doc says if they don’t do something, I will lose use of that left arm. The company was hoping to get me off the payroll before it got to this point. Too bad for them, they caused it, they gonna fix it.
Not to make a pun here, 5th/77th, but twist THEIR arms about it.
Best of luck, and surgeons, too.

I am hitting this early today, with a request:
Got a few extra bucks that you need to spread around? The dogs and I will need a new residence in a few weeks and you can help. I bought this old travel trailer to use as my primary residence 53 months ago. Pro rating that to today, it has cost me $34.00 per month. I enjoy it, it is not too small for me and the dogs, and it keeps me out of the weather. But, while it looks pretty nice, it was structurally weak and is showing it. In a month I will be making a move, and this will not survive the move, so I need to find another one to replace it. If you care to help, please do, and know that I thank you for it. Anyone, at any time can inquire of what I am doing with the money and I will let them know. Thank you for your consideration. I really expect to shut the deal down before reaching the goal, as I have recently gotten some good info on what I really need.

Hi Frankie, I dropped a few bucks in there for you! I only wish I could do more?? Come on TAH, let’s help Frankie out?? He deserves our help!
Thanks all,
Willy
The person that owns the place I am at now had a change of plans, so this came at me with little notice. I love living in these older travel trailers, (so much more spacious than the 5 X 7 foot semi sleepers that I once lived in), and so much more affordable. Easy to heat and cool, no extra rooms to clean, just right for an old guy and his dogs. Thank ya, Willy, and thanks to all of you, for your service to our country, and your considerations for your fellow Vet. We are a force that keeps things upright.
Frankie – just donated some cash your way… hope it help you out.
HEY Frankie, I put some Shekels in the hat for you, I hope it helps!
Looking at my fundraiser this morning, I thank you all. It will be put to a good end, and somehow I will let you see the results of the blessings.
Anted in the kitty, FC. Best of luck.
Thank you, I appreciate it. It hasn’t hit my Go Fund Me yet, (at 12:27EST), but should show up before long.
Thoughts and prayers for those serving this weekend.

“Serving this weekend”? LMAO, Cryer isn’t serving, he is “catching”. The DRG membership is diminishing, what with death, being jailed, and just plain too drunk to move. With this reduction in attendance at their “get togethers”, they will really have to “reach out to each other”.
So he made the prison softball team behind home plate? Is that what you meant when you said he was catching?
“Soft Ball(s), hard bat, held firmly in his pasty white hands.
Starting as a “wide receiver” for the jailhouse football team…
Do you wonder how they found out about Joe Cryer killing his dog? His “Domestic Partner” has come forward as the “whistleblower”. This is the only photo known of him:
It was said that he killed his Dog and his remaining pets were taken in by Animal Control after he was arrested.
Hey Hack..
Caroline here. I’ve been laughing so hard I had to buy more underwear. My young one said buy Depends for multiple use. Wittgenflogger must’ve read the article because he’s lighting up my old email address and fake messenger.
In other news, it was five years ago this month that Elaine Ricci entered our lives, only to disappear under mysterious circumstances two months later. Hack is just glad that she gave him a verbal contract for lifetime employment s Director Of Media Relations at the proud but humble woman owned business that (no longer) sells software to the federal government.
#BringElaineRicciHome!
Perhaps she’s retired to Macho Grande.
I don’t think she’ll ever get over Macho Grande.
It looks like the remnants of our beloved DRG is self-destructing. Anyone giving odds on how long before sLUrPEr41 is in the nuthouse? I’m betting 2 to 1 its 12 to 18 months.
I’ll take that bet…
Isn’t ShOrTbUsWiNdOwLiCkEr overdue for his yearly delousing and detox session at the local county jail?
I’m surprised he isn’t already there!
Congratulations, 5th/77th FA, ya Dickweed.
Top 10 and I wasn’t paying attention. I was busy stuffing my face.
Congrats to 5th/77th FA

Top fifteen and Honorary First yet again.
Hack Stone is watching a rerun of The Rockford Files, and Rockford and his current client just outran the LAPD in an AMC Pacer. As long as they are asking us to suspend disbelief, why don’t they try a 1980’s vintage Jaguar in the next chase scene?
Defaming Rockford in Un-American! Take it back, ya commie!
Season 3 Episode 11, The Trouble With Warren. Warren was driving, not Rockford.
My favorite Rockford move (I can’t remember the season or the episode) was when he went into a public restroom that was inside a bar, poured out some liquid soap on the floor, pulled a roll of quarters out of his sport coat pocket, and clocked a big gorilla right in the face.
Kinda like a VW bus keeping up with a DeLorean…
Mr. Jones of SSK was notorious in yesteryear for wildcatting cartridges well beyond any known power levels for the caliber, chambering them in TC Contenders, and marketing them as “Hand Cannons”. Made the .45-70 Contenders seem like love taps.
The DMC would Run about 185 HP. Loaded down with a bunch of time gear? Phhht.
It was a dog when running light. That is one of the reasons it flopped. Too heavy for HP, too sluggish on acceleration, and geared wrong for “fun”.
Narrow parking spaces were a problem, also. Klunk!
Oopsie.
I wanted one when they came out, then spoke with folks who drove them. Pass. Maybe I could go for the hovercar/fusion trim level.
How do you identify a DeLorean at a traffic light? The nose is over the white line.
Let’s remember that Wayne and Garth had a formidable AMC Pacer called the Mirth Mobile. Party on…
No shit, there I was, 1993, sitting at a red light. Bohemian Rhapsody on the radio, LOUD! They get to the head bangin’ part, and of course I’m head bangin’… I look around, embarrassed, and the occupants of nearly every car at the intersection are doing the same. It was a good day.
Now, the AMX was an interesting AMC car. A neighbor had a pair that were tweaked rather a bit.
A buddy in college had an AMC Gremlin. I learned that “grem” is pronounced just like “shit”.
The AMC Javelin was also reasonably competitive in Trans Am. Not a front-runner, but it seemed to keep up enough to not be embarrassed.
For what it’s worth, I also once drove a DeLorean on a dealer demo. It was a comfortable ride and handled well, but I’d agree it was unexpectedly weak on power. Part of that, if memory serves, was due to the use of a Renault engine in a rear-engine configuration. If Delorean had stuck to the original mid-engine design, the company’s fate, arguably, might have turned out differently.
James Garner took a slug in the buttocks. If he thought a Pacer was a hot rod…well no one was gonna question him.
From an aircraft no less, so probably a .50.
20!!!, Oh to be 20 years old again…
Bet a good chunk of us would settle for 20 years younger…
Not sure I’d agree with that – I sure would hate to go through the last 20 years again. Well, except for some of the great friends made during those years. And a few events.
Maybe the past 20years weren’t so bad after all…
If you want more gun p0rn go look for the youtube channel “Demolition Ranch” it’s run by a Texan that likes to blow stuff up.
WTHeck!
How did I not get in the top 10?
Congrats to 5th/77th again
In other news, went to the Dr. Monday and was given a prescription for what the pharmacist said is “the Cadillac of the penicillins.”
Might have needed the Ford F350 of the pnnicillins, ’cause I’m still trying to whup this bug. Making progress, and should be able to teach my Sunday School class.
Otherwise all is well in our AO. Hope y’all have a great weekend.
Since whistle-blowers seem to be all the rage right now, here’s one involving our subs:
https://taskandpurpose.com/lawsuit-huntington-ingalls-whistleblower
In essence, they claim Huntington Ingalls Industries, the largest US shipbuilder, falsified records regarding the ‘Special Hull Treatment’ that gives Virginia-class subs a better ability to elude enemy sonar.
In my world that’s equivalent to Boeing cheating on P-8A Poseidon’s Safety-of-Flight requirements.

11B,
I see what you did there.
Good book, that.
Cool.
Glad I don’t have to shoot it.
Got out this afternoon and burned some powder, but it was in my little squirrel gun. If I can use a prone position and the squirrels hold real still, I may get some squirrel stew this winter.
That thing would take a buffalo and turn it into stew meat for you, I think.
I love the “Sounds of Freedom”:
Eglin Air Force Base, Florida
The 43rd Fighter Squadron F-22s will conduct night flying operations. Residents may experience noise in the area Oct. 7-11, Oct. 15-18, and possibly Oct. 21-23 from 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Flying will end at approximately 10:30 p.m.
The area directly over my place is a designated, “Military Operational Area”. I am going to enjoy this.
There was no question when the F-35 Lightening II was testing here at Pax River. That beast was loud even by F/A-18 standards.
Enjoy your F-22 SOF.
Yep, the F-35 is loud. Especially when doing its VTOL exercise. Training flights on them are done here, mostly during daylight.
I just got a message that reminded me of this guy. In the time that I was away from TAH, do any of you recall seeing this name come across? The message:
“Hi Frankie, Just curious if you ever caught up with Brian McCarthy who was telling everyone he was a Navy SEAL?
He is said to be in the Denver area.
Hi Frankie;
I dropped some sheckles on your go fund site a few minutes ago. Glad to help out a fellow Vet
Fun Facts of the AR-15 Rifle.
Love it.
Add one more.
Shooting all the heat-seeking incendiary deer cooking bullets from the .30 caliber clip renders the AR-15 useless.

Shot my CAR15 a week ago for the first time in about ten years. It was shooting high until I flipped the rear peep sight; then kaboom—direct hit on a jar of tannerite, blowing an old microwave to smithereens, at our remote community dump and impromptu range.
Capable of mounting a chainsaw bayonet, flamethrower and rocket launcher all at once that enable it to shoot around corners, over houses and terrain features protecting targets and, if necessary, behind the firer at people chasing him, too.
Looks like a Devil Dog took one for the team!

BLUF: USMC Combat vet claims he got paid to have sexual relations with Elizabeth Warren. Semper Fi.
Gotta be BS. Even IDC SARC wouldn’t touch that.
Yeah, well I don’t think he eats crayons either.
Have to wonder whether our IDC_SARC would take one for our team, even with substantial compensation.
Can’t think of anyone that would want to poke her hantas.
You know what? I am part Native American, and folks seem to think they can just say shit like that without comment. So
On behalf of my kin, that was quite funny.
There. You were commented.

Victor Davis Hanson called her shrill in an interview with Laura Ingraham.
He also said she doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell of winning the POTUS slot.
Whatever that man says, I’m good with it !!!
Two things to note on this – one, Warren’s response was actually really funny. She posted a ‘Go Cougars’ reply (referring to the University of Houston).
Second, and maybe more relevant to this blog -will we see a post on it?- the Marine in question claimed he was injured in combat, but the Marine Corps says, “What? You didn’t even deploy.”:
https://www.thedailybeast.com/jacob-wohls-bogus-warren-accuser-exaggerated-his-military-service-record
Send that on over to Military Phony. They’ll set the record straight.
As much as I view Warren as being a grifter in many ways, I doubt sincerely she’d be idiotic enough to let that dorkward boink her, period.
Well, if his account is true (which I strongly doubt) . . . that could explain his rather bizzare behavior afterwards. He’d have a raging case of Post Gigolo Stress Syndrome (PGSD). (smile)
But I guess his story could be true – David Lee Roth sang a song about the guy’s claims:
Hack found some video of Kelvin at work:
That security guard in the video looks pretty intimidating. Where did the hire him from, Prudential Associates out of Rockville or Ambassador World Wide Protective Services in Memphis?
Hey, here’s a KickStarter for a new board game that our resident SJW would like:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/williamdalebout/virtue-signal-the-game-of-social-justice?ref=project_tweet
Wouldn’t this proposed board game be competing with the recently released Socialist Monopoly? I guess comitted progs might buy both.
Hack Stone will be up in Baltimore tomorrow. Does the Bed & Breakfast that Joseph Cryer is staying at allow visits on Saturday? If so, maybe a care package of Gummi Dicks and a five gallon bucket of I Can’t Believe It’s Not KY Jelly may be in Cryer’s future.
Gummi Dick are fine by me. Also a note reminding him that killing his dog is a punishable offense in a LOT of states. Very punishable.
“Gummi Dick are fine by me.”
Not something you hear a woman say very much. ;-P
Well, in the sense that they might glue his mouth shut if he eats them, never mind what it could do to his digestive system (corn starch is water-hungry, and a major ingredient of the gummi stuff)….
It was just a thought. 😉
While I know quite a bit about firearms, I have never heard of pistol powder. Can someone enlighten me please:
“During a search of Kolts’ home in Wimauma, investigators also seized pistol powder, knives, hatchets, nunchucks, BB pellet rifles and handguns and books and DVDs on murder, mass killing, bomb-making and domestic terrorism.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-woman-arrested-parents-pipe-bombs
Different powders have different burning rates (technically, loading powder does not explode, it just burns really fast.) Slower powders take longer to fully burn and reach full pressure so they are normally used in rifles. Faster burning powders fully burn and hit their pressure peak quickly, making them suitable for use in smaller cartridge cases and shorter barrels… pistol powders. A .44 magnum case full of a slow rifle powder will work poorly and belch a gout of still-burning gas and flame. A .30-06 cartridge stuffed with a fast pistol powder like Bullseye or AA#2 will too quickly hit an excessive pressure peak and likely blow up by your face. The burning rate and quantity of powder used must be carefully matched to the cartridge capacity and weight of the projectile to stay below dangerous pressure levels. Sorry for the long answer!
Long answers, when correct, as I suppose yours is, comes off better than a short answer that is no more than a guess. Thanks for the response.
The simple answer is that some smokeless powders are designed specially for the small volumes of pistol cartridges. For example, I use one called “Titegoup.” I only use about 3.0 grains of it to reload a .38 special round.

What do you all think? Why do you think this Soldier went AWOL? There are others articles on him implying that he made up his story and either felt guilt after receiving the Army Commendation Medal or was afraid he was going to get into trouble for fabricating his story of rescue.

He was located outside of Fort Hood, Texas. Some news articles stated that is where his Father is stationed or that the area is his Home of Record.
Others speculate that he has PTSD from “rescuing” those children, i.e. too much media exposure to include being recognized by POTUS while others think he might have some sort of mental illness.
Is it too soon to speculate as to why he went AWOL before all the facts are presented? I have my theories, but did not want to share my opinion before I read other opinions on his action.
Perhaps this story can become a Post by Admin for others to comment?
Here is the same story reported by the Washington Post:
“Soldier Honored For Heroism In The El Paso Shooting Is Arrested For Going AWOL, Army Says”:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2019/10/04/soldier-honored-heroism-el-paso-shooting-has-been-arrested-going-awol/
And here is another version of the story posted by an El Paso Texas News Station (the TV Station does not know how to spell “whose”, so I corrected it. Also, I thought there was a difference between “Desertion” and “Going AWOL” *Sigh*)
“Local Ft Bliss Soldier Whose Story Of Heroism Questioned Arrested On Military Desertion Warrant”:
https://cbs4local.com/news/local/ft-bliss-soldier-whos-story-of-heroism-questioned-arrested-on-military-desertion-warrant
Usedtabe that in general, AWOL/UA for 30 days turned into desertion (some exceptions locally such as war zones or if you were in access to specific classified info.) Desertion carries far stiffer penalties, like possibly death.
Thank You, David! You are so right.
I think the El Paso CBS Station got it wrong and misled the public when they said the young Soldier “deserted” instead of using the term “AWOL”.
I HOPE he was telling the truth about rescuing those kids. His story reminded me of another Soldier who claimed to have saved a persons life who was involved in a car accident and his story proved false.
I think that Soldier received an Soldiers Medal, but was later taken awa from him.
The other interesting thing is that the 21 year old only received an ARCOM versus a Soldiers Medal.
Wonder why?
ARCOM award authority is usually at Brigade, (Colonel). Soldiers Medal requires approval of a much higher Command. This one may have been an interim award so they could decorate him immediately.
Award of the Soldier’s Medal is kept kinda picky, so as not to dilute it. There needs to be some real and direct risk of loss of life, too, not just “coulda”.
Also, the Soldier’s Medal is awarded for heroism “not involving conflict with an enemy”. They may have called it that way becuse anyone shooting at you might be said to be “conflict with an enemy”.
Chain of command can sometimes get really weird with calling these things, and you can wind up with weird situations where nothing seems to fit because the wording for each award is different. ARCOM fits almost anything for which a Brigade Commander might want to say “Hooah!”, thus easy-peasy to cut orders and present it.
“Pin him now. We will upgrade it later if we can.”
You can even put a V device on an ARCOM for a combat valor award.
ARCOM is the multi-tool of the Awards Clerk.
Uh, Oh.
Did TAH forget the Coast Guard’s Birthday this year?
Asking for a Friend. 😉
“Happy Birthday, Coast Guar—Oh Crap, That Was Two Months Ago?!
https://www.duffelblog.com/2019/10/happy-birthday-coast-guar-oh-crap-that-was-two-months-ago/
I think I did do a post about that, but I’d have to go back and look it up… and that sounds like work to me… and I don’ wanna right now. 😛
Thanks, Ex!
😊
As usual, Dufflebag comes up with some doozies.
There was a post on the Coastie Puddle Pirates Birthday. I remember that one cause I forwarded the linkie to my Niece and God Daughter. (a former and still serving pp) It wasn’t too long after the post on the door knocking Coasties for the drug running subs.
Thanks, 5th!
Could not find on 2019 TAH about our Coasties Birthday around 4 August 2019, thus the tongue in cheek question based on the Dufflebag article.
Bless your family for serving in the Coast Guard. Too bad they don’t have a Football Team (I see the Dawgs are doing well this season!) 😉
The innerwebznetthingie memory is way yonder better than mine, as are the archives of TAH. I could be mistaken about the birthday post for this year/time frame. I know that I sent the door knocker one ’cause the Mama’s questioned me “Is that what my baby girl was/is doing?”, and the girls sent a chastising note. MA (god daughter) and her husband are both serving Coasties and drop by TAH for visits. I am very proud of them and my other nieces, nephews, god children, and mentored ones that are still serving in every branch.
We are like LT Dan in that our Family has served our Country/State in every conflict going back to past the Rev War. Had ’em on both sides in Native Conflicts and that great unpleasantness of ’61 – ’65. I personally believe that is why we have been so lucky in this generation’s service because of the blood that we spilled in the past.
This is more embarrassing than The Village People singing In The Navy.
Aiigghh! Make it stop! (Put on “In the Navy,” Barry Manilow, anything!)
Well, this is interesting:
“21-Year-Old Man Sentenced To 10 Days In Jail For Failing To Report To Jury Service”:
https://www.wptv.com/news/region-c-palm-beach-county/west-palm-beach/21-year-old-sentenced-to-10-days-in-jail-for-failing-to-report-to-jury-service
Evidently, the 21 Year Old said he overslept on Jury Duty Day. The Judge charged him with Contempt of Court because the 21 Year Old failed to notify the Court of his absense.
The Judge eventually either reduce or dropped some of the punishment for the 21 Year Old. Don’t know if this charge will be thrown out considering the young man already spent 10 days in jail.
Dumbass. Is 21 the new 6? Or is 41 the new 21? When do these young’uns grow up, if ever? IIRC from my jury summons it states very explicitly what you need to do and the consequences of not doing so. I’m glad that home boy is trying to look after Grand Pa, but that is no reason to be missing a jury summons. Alarm clocks are cheap. Go buy one.
Another interesting story, this time about Sailors and Beards.
Is this good or bad for the US Navy?
More important, will this help Navy beat Army in December?
Asking for a friend.
😉🐎🐐😊
“Navy Ends Medical Exemptions That Allowed Some Sailors To Have Beards”
https://www.pilotonline.com/military/vp-nw-navy-facial-hair-beards-medical-exemption-20191005-hqdsr4gtmzeadk76qix2gj6roy-story.html
“…will this help Navy beat Army in December?”
Tell your friend that the only thing that will help Navy beat Army in December is if Army doesn’t show up at the stadium. 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 bwaaahahahahaha 😆 😆 😆 😆 gasp gasp hahahahaha 😆 😆 😆 :mr green: :mr green:
HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
🤣😂😅❗❗❗
Paging AW1Ed, Paging AW1Ed: The Army/Navy Game Verbal Battle Game has started.
Whoo-Whoo!
(Rubbing hands together, puts on sunglasses):
Go Army! Beat Navy!
*grin*
I fear that 5th/77th’s forecast is true. I am disheartened, sad, and effing annoyed.
Aahh, Ex, now you make me feel bad.
Well, just a little bad.
😉
Remember: Home-Cooked Meals always cheers up a disenchanting soul.
And so does a good bottle of Wine!!
Commenting for a Friend: Go Army! Beat Navy!
😄
Polish sausages on the grill with hash browns + chopped onions on the side, and rum raisin apple brown betty.
That’s all I’m up to right now. 🙂
YUMMY!!!!
Well, Army lost to Tulane. Oh, well.
Navy is now playing Air Force.
I like both teams, so may the BEST Team win!
Good Luck to both Teams.
😊
