Home intruder shot and killed by homeowner in Ferry Pass

by Chorus Nylander
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR-TV) — A man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning after breaking into a home on Lawton Street off of Olive Road in Ferry Pass. The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

We spoke to the homeowner, who does not want to be identified, he said the intruder made his way through a bedroom window. He showed us the shattered window.

“He left through my front door and came through the bedroom window, knocked everything around and slapped me, woke me up. He said something about something on fire then left out the front door. A few minutes later I heard him come back through so I went to the window and grabbed my pistol and that was over with,” the homeowner described.

Former PDX worker sentenced for taking guns from luggage

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A former airport baggage handler has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for stealing guns and ammunition from passengers’ luggage.

The Oregonian/Oregon Live reported that 27-year-old Deshawn Antonio Kelly was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court.

Kelly told a judge he stole guns from five people who checked bags at Portland International Airport in August and September 2018.

Authorities say Kelly removed firearms he knew were present due to red luggage tags and switched tags, sending luggage to different destinations.

Kelly’s attorney says he was arrested before he could sell the guns.

Business owner chases suspected burglars, shoots one of them after vehicle ends up in Truxtun Lake

by: Jason Kotowski, Karen Hua
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A business owner became involved in a chase with suspected burglars Tuesday morning and shot one of them after their car ended up in Truxtun Lake.

Officers were dispatched at 6:08 a.m. to a suspicious circumstances call at 1400 Easton Drive, police said. A business owner reported seeing a vehicle on his video surveillance that he recognized from a previous burglary.

The vehicle fled with the business owner in pursuit, police said.

A short chase occurred between the two vehicles on the bike path west of Mohawk Street. Both vehicles drove down into the river bed and one vehicle hit the other, which ended up in the water.

After the vehicle was in the water, the business owner fired a shot, striking one of the individuals he was chasing, police said.

Todays tally, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, are one DRT, two inconvenienced, and one in the wind. Mr. Business Owner had best put a lawer (sic) on retainer. He’ll likely need one.

[The American Colonies were] all democratic governments, where the power is in the hands of the people and where there is not the least difficulty or jealousy about putting arms into the hands of every man in the country. [European countries should not] be ignorant of the strength and the force of such a form of government and how strenuously and almost wonderfully people living under one have sometimes exerted themselves in defence of their rights and liberties and how fatally it has ended with many a man and many a state who have entered into quarrels, wars and contests with them. — George Mason, “Remarks on Annual Elections for the Fairfax Independent Company” in The Papers of George Mason, 1725-1792, ed Robert A. Rutland (Chapel Hill, 1970).

Sounds like Florida Man strikes again! Got into too much drugs and/or hooch. Didn’t know when to leave well (bad) enough alone.
Really!? Break into a house, trash the man’s crib, leave, and come back again?

Breaking into, and stealing guns from luggage? Another data point why I haven’t flown in over a decade, and won’t unless it’s an emergency. And I define what’s the emergency.

Once the guns are returned to their rightful owners, said owners should be allowed to use said thief as target for range practice.

Fyrfighter

Hmm, seems the whole TSA declare / tag/etc plan for flying with firearms doesn’t work all that well….

Anything and everything Teh Gubberment touches, outside its Constitutional responsibilities and duties, seems to turn into shiite.

I have flown multiple times with guns checked in luggage. I often wondered if those red tags on the bags with guns inside were likely a give away to any baggage handler inclined to steal bag contents for quick cash. This case answers that question.

Ex-PH2

What else did that creep steal from those pieces of luggage?

Womens unmentionables

Glad I put down the hot tea! 🙂

From the FL Article, “a warning shot gone wrong?” Maybe if he’d of shot his “acquaintance” the FIRST time he had issues, dippy wouldn’t come back.

Portland; Deshawn Antonio (sigh), need we say more? 6 months for stealing 5 guns. Hope that slap on the wrist didn’t leave too much of a mark. /s/ Judge musta figured 1 month per gun and then another month for the unmentionables. Wonder if the unmentionables were for a friend or for….well you know.

Bakersfield; Not such a smooth move exlax. Hope yo bidness gots enough profit to pay for all the deep water your legal problems gonna become.

I’m wid Tox on the whole flying thing. And if I really, really, really gots to, I take no more than will fit in a carry on.

Cute little shottie. I may and or may not know where a similar one in 12 g is.

The TAH Name Scrabble (Home Version)®™ Whiz Wheel took notice of the (sigh) and spins up the following:

Deshawn Antonio Kelly (DAM*) 33 x 4 = 132

Added: The Whiz Wheel wishes the judge’s name had been included in the article so that a *Dumb Ass Move score could be spun up for only issuing a six month Federal Pound-Em-In-The-Ass sentence./s

rgr769

Only six months for five felony counts of larceny and whatever the federal charges are for breaking into checked luggage. But hey DeShawn will likely be back for a return engagement. They will likely let him out of the pound to go to work during the week. Wonder if the airline will let him keep his job.

rgr769

Nice additional factoid on DeShawn. He actually stole six guns from luggage. They couldn’t recover one because Deshawn gave one to his good buddy who was a convicted felon.

MI Ranger

That should add significantly to his time behind bars…knowingly providing a firearm to a known felon.

Chasing a perp after the fact?? Bad shoot in Bakersfield Calif.
