Veteran Owned Company Releases Betsy Ross T-Shirt to Counter Nike Shoes Being Pulled

| July 4, 2019

The New York Daily News published an article saying that Veteran-owned company Nine Line Apparel has offered a limited edition Betsy Ross t-shirt to counter or fuel controversy surrounding Nike pulling its now infamous “Betsy Ross” flag shoe over complaints by Colin Kaepernick.

A veteran-owned apparel company is calling out Nike over scrapped plans to release a shoe featuring the Betsy Ross flag for the Fourth of July holiday.

Nine Line Apparel, a Georgia-based company founded by retired Army Capt. Tyler Merritt, introduced a shirt featuring the Revolutionary War-era flag as a direct response to the controversy.

Sady, I think the groundwork has been laid and anyone who buys this shirt will be labeled a racist for wearing a symbol of hate as Kaepernick would describe it.

Yet another twist in the new national past time sport of “Who’s a racist?

It reminds me of the Salem Witch Hunts and Trials in the 1690s – if you disagreed with the hunts for witches, you must be a witch yourself.

It is also similar to the McCarthy hunt for communists in our midsts in the late 1940s and into the 1950s – otherwise known as “The Red Scare.”

The similar idea – whether the theme is witches, communists or racists – it is designed to breed mistrust among us.  This mistrust can then be leveraged for the desired outcome politically, financially, or other goals.

Let’s call this for what it is – labeling somebody a “racist” is in most cases a way to control their free speech.  It is bullying someone into staying silent in opposition to the bully’s point of view.

As the economy improves, expect the people that detest this administration to become more vocal and put the focus on things that both divide us and distract us.

By the way – kudos to the authorities in Portland for calling for anti-mask laws during protests, feeling as it contributes to the tendency for violence.

[facetious]

So, Happy 4th of July you bunch of flag-waving, racist, inbred, deplorables!

[/facetious]

I wish the same to the rest of you as well.

As Americans, my hope is that we can all come together and avoid breeding mistrust.  It is a transparent tactic that people are all too willing to get behind.

The United States Flag is not meant to be on shirts, pants, bandanas, paper plates, or napkins. Fly it how it was meant to be flown, not as a decorative fashion statement.
Unless it is properly lit, don’t leave it out at night.
I will stop now.

That is all.

Happy 4th of July to all.

Daisy Cutter

I agree but I have to say I’m a hypocrite when it comes to it being worn as a skimpy bikini.

I’m not for it or opposed to it – just conflicted.

FuzeVT

Well of course the skimpy bikini would have to be removed immediately if it were seen out in public. . .

26Limabeans

“not meant to be on shirts”

The Department of Defense, LEO’s and EMT’s disagree.

3/10/MED/b

Allow me to clarify, 26Limabeans; Of course, the obvious you stated is correct, as I wore the Flag on several UNIFORMS as a member of the Army, not as a statement to show my “patriotism”.

One of the reasons I keep on TAH…to be corrected when I misspeak.

Good day to you and yours.

26Limabeans

Just being picky.
Back in the day all we had was a name tag and an NDSM.

Enjoy your hotdog!

Eden

I agree with you on anything that is meant to be thrown away after use. I don’t believe that clothing falls in that category.

Eden

To clarify, I was taught that you never make an article of clothing FROM a flag (i.e. cutting up the flag to make the garment), but I never saw any prohibition against displaying a flag ON a garment as long as it was displayed respectfully and properly.

LC

President Obama had the Betsy Ross flag flying during his second inaugural. This ‘controversy’ is idiocy of the highest degree. To borrow from “Billy Madison”:

Mr. [Kaepernick/Nike], what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The Other Whitey

On this, we are in complete agreement.

PFM

Clinton had it in 1993, too, not to mention the VA seal.

rgr769

In one of the union cav units I rode with as a Civil War re-enactor, we rode with a swallow-tail version of that flag. Somehow, fake-fighting against the Confederates (re-enactors) I didn’t feel like I was a racist supporting slavery. Kapershit is just another perpetually aggrieved a-hole looking for something to whine about to get his name in the news. But what I want to know is when was the last time he was responsible for a touch-down?

The Other Whitey

“But what I want to know is when was the last time he was responsible for a touch-down?”

Plenty of ‘em! Oh, wait…you mean for his own team? Never mind…

26Limabeans

I just knew it. Ordered a 5×8 Betsy Ross flag this morning. You knew somebody was going to jump on this opportunity and here it is.

Look for more of it.

FUCK Nike.
FUCK Colin Kaepernick.

KUDOS to Nine Line Apparel, I wish them sales success!

Club Manager, USA ret.

had the same feelings, went on line to purchase a shirt and got sticker shock. I used to sell tee shirts in Republic de Panama to deployed Guard units coming down to work on the highways so I have an idea of the profit margin. While I am sure Nine Line quality is better than the seconds or knockoff’s I sold, their prices indicate more of a profit motive rather than patriotism.

Eden

Their quality is top-notch, and their prices are pretty much in line with most high-quality t-shirts these days. They use those profits to support a number of military and veteran charities. Also, they have a buy-two-get-one-free deal going right now.

Just read the above comment and earlier as I was walking out of Publix, there were the American Flag napkins on a display stand. Quite a number of years ago, I stopped by my old LBFD Hose Co. 1 and there on the deck was an American flag doormat in front of the clubhouse door. I told one of the Trustees that this was a discrace of our flag, he took it away. This stuff is made in China and people buying these mats napkins etc are not thinking. I do wear American flag tees put out by the Project War Path people who are I believe running the Navy Seal Museum up north.

“So Happy 4th of July, Flag-waving, racist, inbreed (sic), deplorables.”

We’re not racin’, we’s dancin’. Dancin’ for joy that we are still able to celebrate the Birthday of The Greatest Nation on this Blue Marble.

Other than that, we resemble those remarks and will continue to demand your disrespect of us.

UpNorth

I prefer flag-waving, racist, inbred, deplorable dickweed, thank you..

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

How come the flag is racist when during that time, there were Black soldiers under GW fighting for the Red White and Blue. These asshole shit bird liberals should check this out. If this country isn’t so great, how come you have all these peeps from all over the world wanting to come here and all those Asshole hollyweird peeps who said that they were leaving for Canada are still here??

Club Manager, USA ret.

You don’t get it. Every thing is racist using the most flimsy excuse. I used a Secretary of State graphic showing two figures for poll worker training, something whimsical, and bigger than shit, some fucking activist in the audience complained because she considered using a black nondescript figure racist. I invited her to work as a poll worker in some other county. It is unbelievable the reasons these ankle bitters find to declare something racist and the remedy is to stand up to them.

Berliner

See “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinski…

Rule 13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

Declaring the flag ‘racist’ targets those who support the flag as ‘racist’. Rinse and repeat with support from their allies in the media.

X-OTM1 (IUSS/SW)

There were also Black soldiers fighting for the British with the promise of freedom after the British Empire defeated the upstarts. Also, there were Native Americans tribes who fought on both sides, and got screwed in the process.

AW1Ed

I’ve found most who use the flag in this manner are patriotic, just uninformed. What we learned in grade school has long been stricken from the syllabus. Pretty sad actually.

Poetrooper

“What we learned in grade school has long been stricken from the syllabus.”

And that is no one’s fault but ours for allowing the leftists to take over our education system.

Thunderstixx

Palmetto State Armory has led the charge on the Betsy Ross Flag themed AR products !!!
I love it !!!
No doubt that next year we will be seeing a lot of that theme in the Re-election of President Trump campaign literature and products !!!
Keep America Great my friends !!!

Come to think of it, I never really did like Nike Shoes, they fell apart after about six months much like Colin Kaepernick’s football career!

11B-Mailclerk

I guess political shit-stirring is an alternative when one’s best game is third rate second stringer.

Pity he never put that much effort into upping his game.

A Proud Infidel®™️

True, I bet that if he put even half the effort into improving his game that he did into being a bawling PC pissant he could have become Hall of Fame material!

Retired Grunt

As far as limiting the use of masks during protest, it will be challenged on first amendment saying that the masks are necessary so that they can exercise their 1st amendment rights. I do not agree with that in the slightest feel free to exercise your 1st amendment rights in any way you choose but lighting feel the need to hide your face while doing it. Say it loud, say it proud….. Don’t hide behind a mask as a means to commit violence. I’m not hiding behind my scary black rifle You’ll see me in full view right behind it when I need to use it.

OWB

Already been done. Greensboro NC has had an anti-mask/face covering ordinance for decades. Been tested and upheld. The particulars are fuzzy in memory, but iirc it came from a deadly clash between KKKers and others back in the 60’s or early 70’s.

Other communities have well established anti-masking laws and they stem from various incidents throughout history.

LRRP2

But the Betsy Ross Flag was all fine and good for obummers inauguration ceremony ????? WTFO !!

A Proud Infidel®™️

I wholeheartedly concur.

The Other Whitey

Crapernick wants to whine about something that nobody he ever met in his life was old enough to experience in this country, but he’s oddly silent about Nike’s ongoing use of slave labor in Malaysia. Hey, don’t they practice the same religion as that harpy he shares a mattress with? So much for him championing those “oppressed by the white man,” or whatever. Fuck him sideways.

Anyway, ordering two of these shirts.

Ex-PH2

I could use some new t-shirts. I will happily patronize an American enterprise, except that there isn’t a low enough price for me to buy Nike’s shoes. The one pair I bought a long time ago fell apart after about six months of wear, and I only wore them when I was running with my dog after work. Crappy quality, not worth the bother.

Eden

They have a buy two get one free code of BUY2G1. Put a third one in your cart and use that code, and the third one will be free.

SgtBob

Today is 5 July, so I am a bit late, but: Stop with the happy 4th of July BS. It’s INDEPENDENCE DAY.
