Marines in the Pacific

| July 3, 2019

Marines with Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, run toward security positions during a live-fire range as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s simulated Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations, Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, March 13, 2019. The Marine Corps has put in a request for funding to expand its training bases in the Indo-Pacific region, to areas including training ranges on training ranges on Tinian, Pagan and separate islands in the Northern Marianas. And Congress wants to review the request.

There is construction underway on Guam, per the article. One obstacle to this disbursement across the Indo-Pacific region is transportation, which includes amphibious shipping and sea surface lift capacity. Reducing the presence of Marines on Okinawa is part of the plan to return the territory to local government, and will also reduce the possibility that China will target that island with missiles. This applies to distributing US forces across the wider areas of US territories in the Pacific.

If you aren’t keeping up with what China is doing, the government of China under Xi JinPing is aggressively pursuing an expansion into all of South Asia, with a goal of dominating and controlling the entire area.  China’s expansion is not going away. Look at the electronic stuff you have and calculate how much of it contains functioning parts that require rare earths to do the job. It also applies to your household appliances and some of the parts in vehicles now.

I think they put some pool floaties or water wings on the island to prevent that.

And I find China a hell of a lot more scarier than Russia or North Korea (Especially their army and along with the fact that they can produce their own equipment. Decent stuff from the looks of it too. Their navy is also nothing to sneeze at either. Definitely in better shape than Russia’s and don’t get me started on North Korea and once again they are fully able and willing to build their own ships). I also hear that organ harvesting is big in China mainly from political and religious prisoners.
