Thousands of Illegal Aliens in California to be Eligible for Medicaid if Bill Passes

In January next year, thousands of illegal aliens will be eligible for health benefits under California law. A part of the plan, to get funding for that initiative, is to tax Californians who aren’t under a qualified health insurance program. State officials estimate that 90,000 illegal aliens would qualify. The cost is expected to run $98 million a year.

Under an agreement between Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrats in the state legislature, low-income adults between the ages of 19 and 25 living in California illegally would be eligible for California’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal. The deal emerged as part of a broader $213 billion budget.

“While it’s not all we sought, it will provide a real tangible difference for people, especially for those around and below poverty and for middle income families who don’t get any help under the federal law,” Anthony Wright, executive director of advocacy group Health Access, said. Indeed, a family of four earning as much as six times the federal poverty level — or more than $150,000 a year — would be eligible to get about $100 a month from the government to help pay their monthly health insurance premiums.
To pay for part of it, the state agreed to start taxing people who don’t have health insurance. It’s a revival of the individual-mandate penalty that had been on the books nationwide under former President Barack Obama’s health-care law until Republicans in Congress eliminated it as part of the 2017 overhaul to the tax code.

Indeed they are. A big chunk (if not most) of Medicaid is funded by the Federal government through block grants to the states.
Since they are aiding and abetting federal criminals, aka wetbacks, the federal gov needs to cut all funding off to Kali.

Why is it they are in a perpetual state of bankruptcy and insolvency and still insist on finding new ways to spend money?
Do they really think people in NEED of medical care are going without? People who are shot, have a heart attack, or are in labor are not being turned away from hospitals. The county and state end up picking up the bill, but they get treated.
TRUE, Hospital Emergency Rooms are forbidden by Federal Law from refusing service and that’s why you’ll see illegal aliens flocking to ER’s for even a runny nose and that’s a big reason why so many hospitals near the Border go broke!
Douglas, AZ has no hospital for that very reason. Illegal aliens using the ER would drain the entire hospital’s budget in 3 months. Every year.
And yet we still see agenda-loyal commie pols like Nanny Lugosi, Shoo-mah and AOC demanding that we hand them everything as soon as they cross our Border. Let’s face it, all they see in illegal aliens are future D-rat votes!

I’ve paid into Medicare for over 50 years, and had private insurance for the most of that time. Just had to sign up, jump thru all the hoops and was chastised cause I didn’t sign up when I was 65. No need, I had insurance. And because of my higher overtime earnings in ’17, instead of paying $134 a month, I have to pay $189 a month. Tho we aren’t Commifornia residents, each taxpayer in this country will be subsidizing this somehow. What these politicians won’t do to insure their re-election.

Let’s see…$98 million a year divided by 90,000 illegal aliens is about $1,090 per illegal alien per year. Wish I could get health insurance that cheap.
Why are government cost estimates an order of magnitude lower than actual? Government bean counters must be the most incompetent. Do they specifically target people who failed math?
The cynical side of me knows that it’s because the office that estimates these things has been given the nod to make it a palatable number. If they put an actual cost estimate on it, nobody would vote for it!

That means there will be at least triple the numbers of illegals signing up and the cost will be four to five times the estimation.
Federal bailouts and subsidies (“Medicaid Expansion”) next, if they can wrangle it. Higher local taxes are assured.
Of course, the locals taxed for this “generosity” will in some cases move elsewhere. This will necessitate further “adjustments”, and more relocations.
Sooner or later, they stop allowing migration out. “Exit taxes”, ” Capital Control”, “Forward Average Taxes”, and such will be applied.
California is now having blackouts, ostensibly “to protect the environment”.

Of course, this is merely “to prevent fires”. More businesses will flee unreliable power. And the most unreliable areas will not be the ones largely politically connected, or needful at ballot time.
If anything will put the knife in so deep that businesses and hundreds of thousands of people will be leaving it will be the blackouts.

Back in the 90s Californians passed a Proposition that REQUIRED Health Care Providers ( Translation Emergency Rooms) to notify Immigration Officials if a patient was suspected to be illegal.
The 9th Circus Court Struck it down.

A 4DEC2018 Hoover Institution (hoover.org) article says “The California High-Speed Rail project began in 2008 at an estimated cost of about $39 billion to build high-speed train service between Northern California, Southern California, and the Central Valley. Despite the project having been significantly scaled back, the price tag for the down-sized system is likely approaching $100 billion.”
No, $100 billion won’t do it. In spite of being drastically scaled back, I doubt it will come in under $200 billion and it will require another 25 years, minimum. It will be out of service every time there is a minor earth tremor. Every species of insect encountered will require an environmental impact study costing millions.

One of my mentored boys is in San Diego, doing contract work in the computer security field. He started a short timers calendar recently. Think he’s down to about 340 days.
