Police: Wilkinsburg Shooting May Have Stemmed From Dispute, Intruder Fatally Shot In Head

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) — Police say a man was shot and killed while allegedly trying to force his way into a home in Wilkinsburg early Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Jakeem Booker, of Braddock.

Investigators were first called to the home along Franklin Avenue, between S. Trenton Avenue and Peebles Street, around 6:30 a.m.

Allegheny County Police say Booker had been pushing his way into the front door of the home in an attempt to get inside.

“From what we’re piecing together at this point, this is possibly some type of robbery or dispute in which the individual who perished was trying to force his way into the residence,” said Insp. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police.

Adults and children were inside the house at the time.

According to police, a 17-year-old boy knew Booker from “previous encounters” and knew Booker possessed a firearm.

“One of the residents of the home shot at the person at the door,” Schurman said. “It appears the door may have been opened, the person was trying to force their way in.”

‘I was scared’: Concealed carry permit owner shot man in self-defense
Police have charged a man who was shot Wednesday outside Milwaukee Police Headquarters.

MILWAUKEE — Police have charged a man who was shot Wednesday outside Milwaukee Police Headquarters.

Investigators determined the woman who shot the man was acting in self-defense.

She was only in police custody for several minutes after the shooting.

Witnesses backed up her account of what happened.

Police said Joseph Drier, 59, attacked the woman after arguing that she should not have a handicapped parking placard in her car.

“It happened so fast. All I knew was the panic. I was fighting for my life. I was afraid,” the woman told WISN 12 News.

She did not want to be identified Friday.

The 28-year-old woman said Drier attacked her as she returned to her car.

“I said, ‘Don’t walk up on me,’ and he turned around and went and got something — a weapon,” she said.

It turned out to be a steering wheel lock.

She said Drier swung it at her as she held him off with one hand.

That’s when she reached into her purse and pulled out her handgun.

Police: East valley intruder killed in self defense

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metropolitan police said an intruder was killed in self defense after breaking into an east valley home Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers were called to the 4700 block of Marnell Drive, near East Harmon Avenue and South Mountain Vista Street, about 12:08 p.m. Officers had received calls about a possible robbery in a residential area.

Police said two brothers lived in the home. The younger brother, in his mid-40s, alerted his older brother, in his mid-50s, about a people trying to break into the house.

When the older brother got out of his room, a man was in the hallway, and the two started fighting. While they were in “a struggle” the younger brother fired several rounds at the man, hitting him. The two continued to fight, made their way outside and fell to the ground in the driveway, police said.

A neighbor heard the gunshots, went to check on the house, and called 911, according to Metro.

The intruder was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was not identified and the brothers said they did not know who he was.
