MCSO: 1 dead in shooting following argument at private event in Buckeye
Justin Lum
BUCKEYE, Ariz. (FOX 10) – A family gathering ends in a deadly shooting at a home in Buckeye. The incident happened late Saturday night in the area of Osborn Road and 311th Avenue. The homeowner says she’s traumatized and hasn’t slept after what happened last night. But she says she didn’t invite the men involved in the shooting.
How did this all unfold? MCSO says 40-year-old Jose Vera started an argument with a man when things got heated. Deputies say Vera pointed a pistol at the man before 40-year-old Telesforo Rios jumped in and tried to stop him. That’s when deputies say Vera shot Rios as they wrestled for the gun. Moments later, Vera was shot dead.
The homeowner says the whole point of the event was to hold a fundraiser for the family of a man who’s currently in intensive care after a tragic accident. She tells us nobody expected the gathering to end like this.

Armed neighbors rescue two women being attacked by dogs in Cordes Lakes
Three dogs dead; owner cited
By Max Efrein
Two Cordes Lakes women have their neighbors to thank for coming to their aid during a vicious dog attack Sunday morning, May 19.One of the women told Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) deputies that as they got to her home in the 15000 block of S. Black Mountain Road, there were three pit bulls in her yard. When she tried approaching the dogs, they attacked her and her friend, so she began screaming for help.
Neighboring children heard the scream and let their mother know, according to the mother’s witness account. The mother quickly grabbed her handgun and went to see what was happening. She found the three dogs surrounding the two victims, trying to drag one of them under the house.
Afraid to shoot directly at the dogs, the armed neighbor fired a couple of rounds nearby as the dogs kept attacking, according to her account. Meanwhile, her friend called 911 as her husband arrived on scene. He took the handgun from his wife and ran up to where the attack was taking place. He was able to shoot one of the dogs immediately, and eventually another dog. He attempted to shoot the third dog but was unsure if he was successful. Two of the dogs ran off while the third remained where it was shot.
Scoring this one isn’t easy, because the real violator is the dog’s owner.

Wow. Three Dog Night.
“….the real violator is the dog’s owner.” Preach! Shoulda put that POS down. People like that are the ones that give Pits a bad name. My Macy Girl was a rescued brindle pit, looked intimidating as all hell, but was a big ol’ lap puppie. No one wanted to come inside the perimeter unless I was there. Once she was properly introduced to you (as all Southern Girls are) she was a perfect lady. Been a sad two years since I had to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Good score for today 3 DRTs, and a mixed trifecta. We’ll take those winnings any day. Mama Bear lookin’ good; with her Cross Necklace she can Preach the Gospel of that former Jewish Carpenter, with her sidearm is prolly familiar with the teaching of the Saintly John Moses Browning (Howitzer be his name). Prays for your Soul as she destroys your body.
Sister Golden Haired surprise? Yeeeeeaaaahh Baaaaabbby and Honey Hush. Not a big fan of Tramp Stamps, but I will put my stamp of approval on her. And that’s all I got to say about that!
Only two comments…that looks more like a Glock to my untrained eye. And can we find another term for blondes? Every time it triggers that damn song as an earworm….
You right Davy, didn’t say that the picture was all Glocked up. Trying not to offend the sensitivities of the prostituters of Bro JMB’s holy design. And we can go back to using yeller haired Miss Thang. (grin)
I’ll punish myself by imbibing some cheap whiskey. And smoking a nickel seegar. (smirk)
Go listen to some Who. That’ll get rid of your earworm. (Long Live Rock!)
Oh how I love a trifecta in the morning, and I love some gun p0rn as well! Nice Rack!!
I had to go to the Chattanoongan to read the whole story because I could not understand your math on that one. Mr. Denton who was indicated as the shooter in the first case but was released due to Self Defense, was not considered in the equation, only the two individuals that shot each other in the second half and were taken to the hospital.
Always a tricky thing when rabid dogs are involved, tuff to get an effective shot in, and not hurt the bystander/victim. Hope they educate that owner with a few thousand hours of community service.
At the very least, a citation and the loss of three dogs ought to send a message. One hopes.
Sister Golden Hair.
That is a song that has stood the test of time.
Peace to all.

Ruff morning for those dogs.
