Funerals for SGT Cread E. Shuey and S2c Richard J. Thomson (World War II)

| May 27, 2019

This March, DPAA announced that it had accounted for SGT Cread E. Shuey, US Army. SGT Shuey was lost in the Philippines on 27 September 1942.

SGT Shuey will be buried later this week – on Thursday, 30 May 2019, in Tucson, Arizona. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location for his funeral or interment.

If any TAH readers have the precise location for either SGT Shuey’s funeral or interment, please post it in comments below. And if any readers are in that area and have the time, here’s an opportunity to give someone lost during World War II a proper final send-off.

Also this March, DPAA announced that it had accounted for S2c Richard J. Thomson, US Navy. JO3 Guerra was lost at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on 7 December 1941.

S2c Thomson will be buried this week – on Saturday, 1 June 2019, in League City, Texas. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location for his funeral or interment.

If any TAH readers have the precise location for either S2c Thomson’s funeral or interment, please post it in comments below. And if any readers are in that area and have the time, here’s an opportunity to give someone lost during the Korean War a proper final send-off.

A very nice article about SGT Shuey is here:

https://tucson.com/news/local/remains-of-world-war-ii-pow-returning-to-tucson-family/article_7d059a7e-f8e8-54ba-b05d-312f13b8552e.html

Service and burial details are posted in a sidebar to that article.

Remember when these Warriors were featured in the ….more returned Sunday post. From the articles that OWB posted (Thanks for that Bro) it seems as if the community is doing a fine job of paying Honor to SGT Shuey. I got a little lost in the side bar articles. Wonder if SFC D may be close enough to attend.

Had a neighbor that was a Death March Survivor. Never knew until his TV set crapped out and he called me about getting a replacement. This was before the massive influx of Korean and Chinese built product hit the States. Mr. Carr absolutely refused to have anything in his house that came from Japan. He still suffered from the effects of his imprisonment when he died….prematurely.

RIP SGT Shuey and S2C Thomson. Welcome Home.
