Would-be carjacker fatally shot by concealed-carry holder in South Loop

CHICAGO (WLS) — A concealed carry permit holder fought back, killing a would-be carjacker after a crash in the South Loop.“It is scary but I mean unfortunately we need to do something to protect ourselves,” said Emily Kunzendorf.
The shooting happened at around 3:15 a.m. Friday on Ida B. Wells and Clark Street after a man in a Volkswagen rear-ended a BMW.
According to police, the driver of the BMW got out to inspect the damage and when he went back to get his cell phone, the Volkswagen driver approached with a handgun, demanded his keys and pushed him into the vehicle.
Both men were inside the vehicle when police said the 41-year-old BMW driver retrieved his handgun and shot the 22-year-old man in the head.

Man killed in self-defense shooting in Franklinton
COLUMBUS, Ohio – One man is dead after a self-defense shooting in Franklinton Thursday night, according to Columbus police.
Police said officers were called to a robbery in the area of West Town Street near Hawkes Avenue around 10:20 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a man injured from a gunshot wound. First responders pronounced 39-year-old Thomas Hunt dead on the scene.
Witnesses told detectives that Hunt initiated the violence by assaulting a person with his gun. Hunt was then fatally shot in an act of self-defense.

Woman shoots man believed to be breaking into her car, police say
DETROIT (FOX 2) – Police are investigating a shooting that happened overnight outside a home on Detroit’s west side. Police say a 61-year-old woman shot a person she believed was breaking into her car.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 14600 block of Coyle, which is near Greenfield Road and W Grand River Avenue.
Police say the woman heard a noise outside of her home and went to check it out. That’s when she says she saw a suspect trying to break into her Chevy Tahoe.
Police say the two briefly fought, and the confrontation ended with the woman pulling out a gun a shooting the man. A bullet hole could be see in the window of the driver’s side door.

Got this, this morning from an OKIE 3 shipmate. Ran this type of advice on the comments last year but a little shorter. Rules For A Gunfight by Drill Instructor Joe B. Fricks, USMC” 1. Forget about knives, bats, and fists. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns. Bring four times the ammunition you think you could ever need. 2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammunition is cheap – life is expensive. If you shoot inside, buckshot is your friend. A new wall is cheap – funerals are expensive. 3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss. 4. If your shooting stance is good, you’re probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly. 5. Move away from your attacker and go to cover. Distance is your friend. (Bulletproof cover and diagonal or lateral movement are preferred.) 6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a semi or full-automatic long gun and a friend with a long gun. 7. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived. 8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running. Yell “Fire!” Why “Fire”? Bad start FIRST thing this morning. Leak in the water line from the street into Firebase Magnolia. Won’t go into the gory details, but pre-stroke it woulda been fixed by the time the cat heads were ready for buttering and stuffing with bacon. As it is now, patched and to be replaced manana.
