Woman shoots at man trying to attack someone with knife in Fresno store

FRESNO, Calif. – A man is now in custody after police said he pulled a knife on a group of women in a Fresno store. Police said one of the woman then opened fire on him.It happened just before 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kearney Center in the area of Fresno and A Streets.
Police initially thought the woman had shot him, but store clerks said the man cut himself with his knife.
Police were on scene right after shots rang out, because an officer happened to be driving nearby and heard gunshots coming from the store.
He then saw a white vehicle speed away. Police stopped the car– detaining four females.
Lt. Bill Dooley said clerk said, and surveillance video shows, the women were inside the store when the male came in and a fight broke out.
Dooley said the man pulled out a knife and lunged at one of the woman.
“Another female had pulled out a small firearm, a small handgun, and fired multiple shots at the subject and then fled from the store,” Dooley said.
They clerks said the woman fired several shots, but did not hit the male suspect. Police said the man returned to the scene and that’s when they made the arrest.

Suspect shot after home invasion southeast of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A suspect was shot following an home invasion early Friday southeast of Indianapolis.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, it happened shortly after 12 a.m. Friday in the 9200 block of East McGregor Road in Franklin Township.
Police said an individual with a pistol attempted to confine people in the house and was shot by the homeowner.

Dramatic 911 call details man holding suspected burglar at gunpoint

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – A dramatic 911 phone call details the moments someone allegedly broke into a man’s house and the owner held him at gunpoint last Tuesday.
“Breaking and entering, I just got a man at gunpoint,” 911 caller and homeowner Mathew Fillmore said. “I’m holding him at gunpoint. Call the police right away, send them over.”
During the call, Fillmore threatened the man several times if he moved.
“Don’t ******* move,” Fillmore shouted. “Shut the **** up, don’t say nothing! Shut the **** up, I’ll kill you! Shut the **** up. Shut up! I said shut the **** up!”

First story – incorrect use of singular/plural. “Police said one of the woman…..” WOMEN, ya ignerent dip!
Second story – Incorrect article usage. “A suspect was shot following AN home invasion……”
As I remember being taught, lo, many decades ago, “an” is used preceding all words starting with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u, y); “a” is used preceding all words starting with a constant (b, c, d, etc).
“AN” apple, “A” home.
Thus ends this lesson. Hopefully Sister Mary approves.

Third story; I wish I had been a fly on the wall to watch that one unfold. Hopefully the po-po brought an extra pair of pants for the yute to change into, his were probably brown, messy, and wet. Hose him down outside first.
Just as hopefully, the homeowner can get the smell and stain out of his carpeting.
And for the record, I find nothing wrong with the spelling and grammar in the third story, and hopes Sister Mary finds the same.

Maybe a 20 gauge side by side. Owned a couple of 20 gauge side by sides for trap because 12 G was hard on my shoulder. Even bought two of those .410 adopter sleeves that go into the breech. Worked pretty good. I bought Herters 20G plastic shotgun ammo for the side by sides and the rounds were so cheaply made that when I fired one barrel and when I broke the barrel to load another round, the unfired round’s wadding fell out along with the shot still in the breach. Real cheap. any of you old timers out there use Herters traps, ammo etc? I also owned an Ithaca 12G pump which was hard on the shoulder like I mentioned above and tried out Herters 12G plastic shells and when I fired the 12, The firing pin pulled out the primer which lodged inside the receiver. Ah those memories.

I had a Mossberg pump in 20 but have since sold everything but 12.
I liked the 20 for Partridge due to the ease of handling but the 12 brings home the breakfast every time.
Never got a double from the 20 either. the follow up going to the first bird.

Wrong. They are both .410 shells in the breach of a “doll’s head” action double barrel shotgun. I doubt any manufacturer makes a coach gun in .410, as it is inconsistent with the entire purpose of a coach gun, i.e., defense of the coach from highwaymen. However, there were some pistol or sawed-off shotguns made in .410. My grandfather had one behind the bar when he was the manager of a pool room and saloon back in the 1910’s.
Anyone ever use those .410 sleeve inserts you could put into the breach of a shot gun which I used in my above comment. Does a Coach gun have to have exposed hammers to be called a coach gun or is that a generic term for all short barrel side by sides?
Delete the Can in my above comment. I forgot to delete it. Anyone use Herters products as I mentioned above. Catalogue was full of neat stuff including different types of traps for running trap lines. Don’t know if they are still in business but I should google them and see what’s up.
The term “coach gun” derives from the time when shotgun guards rode our stage coaches. They found the short barreled shotgun with a cylinder bore was an effective way to deal with hold-up men. In cowboy action shooting manufacturers have been making short barreled coach guns both with and without hammers. I have shot both in matches. The hammered guns are cool, but it takes an extra half-second to cock the hammers after each reload.
Stoger makes a .410 in their “coach gun” sized shotguns.
Neat little gun.
But I have never seen anyone who shoots CAS shooting a .410. IN most target displays they would not be able to knock down the shotgun targets.
Allowed for youngest kids. Minimum for adults is 20.
Kids only have to hit SG targets, not knock them down.
Yeah, the primers do look rather large for anything else.

D/A pulls knife on 4 women, what does he expect, that many one is bound to retaliate somehow. Sorry but is no – on scale so about a 2. Lucky he didn’t get smacked with a couple of bags with quarters, oh wait, that only happens in Vegas. Breaks in home and tries to confine more than 2 folks. I’d say about a 5 on the scale, more than 2 are hard to watch and a new hole in body is reward for effort. On #3, is lucky as victim must not be from state, most folks I knew when I was down there would have told him to hold still only once and then gave him a new hole if he moved, most likely a second on by police for being a D/A. 7 on the scale for being smart and laying there, home owner needs to learn something about southern hospitality given to intruders. Quick way to learn is walk up on a working Still in the woods.
Thought 20 gauge hulls had to be yellow? Never gave it much thought, as I don’t have one- 12G or .410 only; pretty hard to mix those up.
You can buy most shot shells in different colors. But 20 gauge shells are yellow to alert the shooter of a 12 gauge shotgun that he is about to drop a 20 gauge shell into his breech. If one does that in the heat of a shoot and then drops a 12 gauge behind it and fires, then the shooter is going to the ER or the morgue. A 20 gauge will lodge in the barrel just forward of the chamber; when the shell behind it is fired it detonates both shells in a blocked barrel. This can’t happen with a .410 shell (too small a diameter to lodge in the barrel). I have seen them in green, and red. The shotgun in your photo is definitely a .410, as you can tell by the relative size of the primer to the head of the shell case.
Looks like .410 to me, considering the size of the primers in comparison to the size of the shell.
Late to the party today, was making rather merry at SFC D’s pulled pork party. Speaking of pulling, we were pulling rather hard on that jug of Jamesons. I think at some point in time, at about 0 God thirty, we were breaking out into some disharmonious bawdy songs.
